- An interesting use of a 555 timer. Using 2 LEDs to flash back and forth after each other.
Parts you will need:
Breadboard
555 Timer
2 LEDs
Choice of capacitors personally I prefer 10µf
10k Ohm resistor
1k Ohm resistor
270 Ohm resistor
2 Diodes
And jumper cables

Great circuit to keep on hand - makes a good 555 timer IC tester.
Yes, you are right! 555 timers are a great a microcontroller!
This is really interesting and useful. Thank you so much
Glad it was helpful!
thanks for the upload
You're welcome!
My circuit blinks both leds at the same time, at 980 Khz, regardless of capacitance, but constantly on without a capacitor. Figure something is broken, finding out what :). Leaning towards oxide on one of the resistors (it's really old) so it gets too high freq and overloads the 555, which is also old, but blinks correctly at lower frequencies in other circuits. Edit: It was a missing jumper cable. However, your circuit only blinks one led for me, in order to get it to work I have to connect one led to PIN 7 and Vcc via an additional 270 Ohm resistor. Does your 555 connect pin 3 to pin 7 (discharge)? My oooold 555 doesn't.
It seems like you 555 timer is faulty. No for mine it does not connect 3 to 7.
I tried this and mine doesn’t work I’ve done it almost 10 times at this point
Cool😎
