Saw them during “Innocence Is No Excuse” tour. So that’s my #1. There was about 300 of us in a Boston nightclub. Wintertime. Loudest concert that I ever experienced in my entire life. By far.
Ya, god knows i gave it a try... i still like it, but it's not my fave... but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion right? :) One reason i created this channel was to see everyone's different tastes! Thank you for watching! Much appreciated!
@@offthecharts2272 No problem. Into The Labyrinth is probably my least favourite of the last 8 or 9 too, it’s more power metal or something yet you have it really high. Funny how people hear things differently. My least favourite is maybe Metalhead or Dogs Of War None of these are bad though. I do love Innocence Is No excuse though. That and Forever Free are really underrated
@@JCStorm76 LOL Ya, the first song on Labyrinth (batallions of steel) is very powermetal... but the rest not as much... And ya, i have it quite high (special memory for it also) - At least we agree on Metalhead :)
First saw Saxon on the Crusader tour, so that album is quite high on my ranking, my #1 has always been Wheels of Steel, followed by denim & leather, Strong arm of the law, Power and the Glory, other ones near the top of my list are The Inner Sanctum, Carpe Diem, Lionheart, Sacrifice, Thunderbolt & Battering Ram, it's fair to say they haven't really done a stinker, of the middle era I probably listen to Killing Ground the most.
@@stephennorris2524 Saxon (obviously 😂), Iron Maiden, Tygers of Pan Tang, Judas Priest (not sure they fall in there), Wichfinder General, old Def Leppard, Samson…. To name a few. You?
Another Saxon fan here. I haven't heard all of their albums though - I guess it's time to troll through Deezer again. My favourite of the few I've heard is "Strong Arm of the Law" - I got a copy of that when it was first released, and of course had on replay at neighbourhood-annoying levels on my dad's big Pioneer system. My guilty favourite off the album is "Taking Your Chances" - when Biff is singing, it sounds like he gearing up for a fight, and this sound was a perfect match for that, LOL. Sadly, I lost access to my original vinyl recordings of Strong Arm of The Law, Denim And Leather and a few others, and the recordings that are available these days seem to be poor copies of what I remember those albums to be like, with for example the volume of the guitars being decreased when the drums or main part of the track starts up, suggesting that too much compression was done on the track. I also have the CD copy of "Destiny" (special order from the UK as I was living in Grenada at the time). Sure, it's more commercial, and they were clearly aiming at the American market, but I found the recording to be pretty decent, with some standout tracks like "Ride Like The Wind", "Calm Before The Storm" and "Red Alert".
Thank you so much for watching! My Saxon episode seems to be one of the more popular ones!! Thats what happens when you have such a great catalog as a band! I hope you are able to find your lost catalog one day…. 🤘🏻
One of my fave bands, Saxon! And best band of the NWOBHM! :-) Odd thing is that up until the pandemic, I only had 3 - 4 albums of theirs, a couple from the classic early 80s era and a couple of newer ones.... and I had long sold the copy of Unleash the Beast you had borrowed from me that made you buy all the rest of the collection! But in 2020, BMG came out with remasters of something like their first 10 albums. I took the opportunity to buy everything I was missing and even re-buy the classic era stuff that I would now be getting remastered. So yeah, I listened to a lot of Saxon in 2020. Thinking back, I don't think there is any metal band with their amount of albums (23) that have been as consistent. Yeah, they went a little more commercial in the late 80's, early 90s, and people generally dismiss that era's output. I personally like it quite well for the most part and like you, I would say Saxon doesn't have a dud among all their albums... and since 1997 (Unleash the Beast), I can think of no other band with their consistency and quality. If you'll allow me, here is my revised ranking 🙂 Their newer one, Carpe Diem, is climbing 🙂 1 Power And The Glory - 1983 2 Lionheart - 2004 3 Thunderbolt - 2017 4 Unleash The Beast - 1997 5 Denim And Leather - 1981 6 Killing Ground - 2001 7 Call To Arms - 2011 8 The Inner Sanctum - 2007 9 Wheels Of Steel - 1980 10 Battering Ram - 2015 11 Strong Arm Of The Law - 1980 12 Carpe Diem - 2022 13 Solid Ball Of Rock - 1991 14 Innocence Is No Excuse - 1985 15 Sacrifice - 2012 16 Into The Labyrinth - 2009 17 Dogs Of War - 1995 18 Forever Free - 1992 19 Crusader - 1984 20 Metalhead - 1999 21 Saxon - 1979 22 Destiny - 1988 23 Rock The Nations - 1986
