God bless OMD for their life's work. There will never be another one like them. I dont care what anyone says, the crap that passes as pop music today is total CRAP compared to the freshness, honesty, and pure feelings of what OMD did in their heyday. God bless you guys! JG
I must have been about 12 when my older sister gave me my very first OMD cassette, which I surely played until I wore out my old-school tape deck. lol. ;) This will forever hold a very special place in my heart. ♥
This video is a clip from "urgh! a music war" I have it on the now obsolete very large Laser Disk format, far superior to VHS but still an analog system. My disc has been played only one time to capture it to very high bit rate MP4 so the disc never gets damaged. This is the best performance (urgh! a music war) of this song ever. Someday I'll post the MP4 here but I have questions about copyright that need answering first.
That's what I call a Fantastic Live performance!!!!When you listen to the meaning of the words(lyrics)they are sad..but the song and the music here in this video are simply Awesome! Thanks so much for uploading! This is one of those timeless numbers that stay in your head and can't get it out for a long time...
62 more days and i'm seeing them at the Nokia theater with both of my lil bro's it's gonna be AMAZING!!!! I may have not been born in the 80's but New Wave is the Best screw modern Hipster music :D
thisd was from the early 80s and it was great . this was one of theose great bands from the ealry 80's there first 4 albums were great. dont forget joy divsion and the smiths
This guy could play bass and dance better than any white man I have ever seen... I saw them several times in Hollywood in the early 80s... This band was really special they seemed to truly Love their art... The 80s were the last days of truly original music...
Yes they are. They come from a village near Liverpool, as far as I know. Enola Gay is one of may favourite song all along. Great song and great memories!
Wow, this live performance is so good. I remember this song when i was in college at the Univ. of Miami back in the mid 80's. Miss those days but at least can re live it on YT.
la chanson la plus triste et le plus dansée. "Enola Gay! tu aurai du rester à la maison hier" est la première phrase du premier couplet. Hiroshima mon amour ...
No youtube, no mobile telephone, no internet, no e-mails, no Ipods and Ipads, mainly still vinyl everywhere.. Yeah, it was more fun: people still could say "hello" to someone that joined in waiting for the bus or train. Now everyone is living in a cyber bubble, with headphones on, or playing with Ipads or laptops. When I was young in the 80's, I wanted to live in the 1950's: cool cars, good ole rock'n"roll and amazing views about how the 21st century would be...
That was one of the fascinating developments back then. When analog synthesizers first hit the scene, people would go see artists like Gary Numan and Tubeway Army and they were shocked that the quality of the sound was so much better than the old school guitar, bass, drums band. The bottom line is those synthesizers sounded even better live than they did on the record compared to the old standard rock band sounds from concerts in the 70s. Especially if it was a show at a venue with decent sound quality.
Great live performance. Great band and sad we don’t have bands like this no more where they put everything into something and make songs like this. Glad I was young then to enjoy this.
Conhecia a canção mas não sabia que era dos OMD musicas lindas dos anos 80/90 décadas de ouro da musica pop que passaram mas que deixam imensas saudades !!
I was looking for the WWII Enola Gay plane but came across this and thought eh this is going to suck why am I going to watch this. After watching it I think it's pretty cool. lol. The music is very catchy! Great Song!
mil neuf cent quatr vingt ! debut de la music electro ! un groupe d antologie qui encore menant ferait un carton ! vive omd vous etes ma generation quatre vingt ! vbravo bisous a tous les fans !
I remember when I first heard this song and didn't quite understand all the lyrics and thought it was about a girl! LOL But then once I had the CD and read the lyrics about the plane it was sooo sad!! Weird how the music's upbeat and the lyrics are sad.
Alot of people never realised that this is a very sad song too.....upbeat song about death, destruction, doom!.....drink a few beers and remember the people who died and the person flying the plane that dropped the bomb, god rest his soul!
I'm going to see them in Montreal, the next March 6th...I'm sure it is going to be very good !!!!!! All fans will be there !!! Viva OMD ! Montreal ROCKS !!!
Great performance and excellent vocals. This song just rips me up with conflicting emotions. But one hell of a guitar rift. Thank you for posting. JF Portland, OR
Real music with very early memories from the very early 80's when i was about six..A real band not like the shite we here now...OMD are simply ledgends!!!!
Probably the best sound i have heard from a synthesiser, magic song.... Was intriqued how such an awesomely uplifting and wholesome sound could be associated with such a dark event.
Hi from Portugal I hope this music can remember for all because the terrible atomic bomb. This tjings can not happen again, we need peace and love in the world. Peace for all from Portugal
Whatever about the discussions about the bombs, what a great pop song. And a great pop song that has intelligent content in its lyrics. There were not that many bands who were doing this. Maybe if there were the teenager's focus on the affairs of the world could have - and could still be - redirected. Great tune with perfect dodgy 80s dancing!
It's eight fifteen And that's the time that it's always been We got your message on the radio Conditions normal and you're coming home Enola Gay Is mother proud of little boy today Ah-ha this kiss you give It's never going to fade away

I love this song! It has this beautiful touch of the 80's but still is timeless... best synth pop ever!
I hate the fact they were often mistaken for a "boy band". These guys were vey talented both vocally and instrumentally.
Excellent song, great to see it performed live, thank you.
God bless OMD for their life's work. There will never be another one like them. I dont care what anyone says, the crap that passes as pop music today is total CRAP compared to the freshness, honesty, and pure feelings of what OMD did in their heyday. God bless you guys! JG
Every time I hear this song, I want to get up out of my chair and do those funky 80's dance moves! You all know what I'm talking about! Hahaha!
One of the best synth pop songs ever written about an airplane!
One of the best synth pop songs about anything :)
I must have been about 12 when my older sister gave me my very first OMD cassette, which I surely played until I wore out my old-school tape deck. lol. ;) This will forever hold a very special place in my heart. ♥
This has to be one of the best live versions of any track, by any artist(e)s, I've ever heard.
Epic
Well to balance things out, here's a normal comment. Great video and sound quality, a real '80's classic for sure 😃😃😃☺

Correct. Enola Gay was Paul Tibbits's (the pilot) mother.
