I am a director at my church, and whenever they want "ole School" material they turn to me and I turn to songs like this. Gospel music has a way of speaking to your soul in manners nothing else can. This song and so many others have helped me overcome trials and tribulations over the years and is why I keep them so close. Thank you to all that paved the way & for blessing us with your gifts. Thank you Mr. 'JD' for sharing this jewel with us.
This has always been one of my favorite gospel songs, ever since I first learned it while serving on a choir in the 1980’s. The best rendition of it is by the St. James Choir. It is one song that I can never forget; and to this day it ministers, mainly to myself, anytime I sing it in church.
Marcell77 thanks for the wonderful memories of how gospel music sounded back in the day, when we as a people was more concern about spirtual things and not so much material things. When families prayed together, children got up on Sunday morning and went to church not to the living room to play WII or playstation 3 When you knew if you didn't go to church you wasn't going out the house on sunday at all. Still ain't nobody like Rev Charles Nicks and St. James Choir, he made that organ talk 2 U
St. James originally recorded this, one of the original soloists is singing it on here. it was written by the man directing the choir Jimmy "JD" Dowell. Be Blessed.
Man...those sisters are sanging! And that dude on that organ has a touch on that organ that sends chills through my body. Church musicians these days don't have that touch. It's a lost art.
O this song would set our church on FIRE!! HATS PURSES AND WIGS would be all over the place.. yes sah sho nuff I do. I REALLY LOVE THE LORD!! YOU SIMPLY JUST DONT KNOW WHAT HE'S DONE 4 ME..____________________________________!!
My God! My God! This is Church! Bless God! jesus! Lets take it to church Yall! This is a blessing. This how church is SUPPOSED to be right here! My God!
This is a blessing for a truly love this song telling those who listen or sing it how much they love the Lord who is a great God while blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.Have mercy!Good day.
A touching song, Joyce and Ortheia did a splendid lead . I heard Joyce had passed, but where is Ortheia? Darryl makes that organ talk everytime I hear him play.
@Marcell77 - I was really bummed to read that she died, upon seeing this video weeks ago. So moving, and as someone said earlier: these ladies aren't battling. They are just singing, which is rare these days. Did you, Marcell77, know JD and Joyce? Is the organist still around? How is the choir these days? Still doing well, or . . .?
STILL REAL. STILL IMPORTANT. STILL NEEDED. MAY SEEM HARD AT TIMES. REMEMBER, WE only HERE BECAUSE OF GOD, Amen.
