Love my Z and ESP Cicadas.
The Cicada flies exactly like a River for me. Super glidey and just kinda slowly goes forever. A lot more squirrelly than the Passion though which is a disc I truly love. The Passion is more like a Teebird. Hard to get it to flip on its own, very torque resistant as well. Imagine your straightest mid range with dependable fade and now imagine it flying the same and landing the same but going 25% further. That's the Passion.
Passion all the way. I started with a Comet so I like the feel and they seem to be the best at staying on a line without fade or turn
I think your assessment is true. I bag both, but the passion fades more, and the cicada has a better feel. Tailwind Cicada, headwind Passion for me.

Havent thrown either, but having felt the Passion, I can tell Id like the Cicada more. Love the Hyzer Flip 7 speed
Your assessment of both is dead on. My cicadas are my go to straight 7 speeds. Have my passions as backups but prefer the cicada.
I ended up putting a cicada in the bag to mess around with !
I haven’t tried the passion yet, but I LOVE my cicadas, currently bag an esp and jb z flx one. My esp is a little beat in so I use it for turn over shots and ez hyzer flips and my other is dead straight with a little fade. Great vid got me curious about the passion and its hand feel haha
I'll go ahead and say it, the Mantis is a better disc than both the Passion & Cicada.
