A few years ago I met Bruce Mahler, the Rabbi, in a coffee shop in Virginia. He was great to talk to and showed me photos on his phone of Larry David and himself when they were in the Fridays show. When I was a kid I watched Fridays as much as I did SNL. I loved his skit of the piano dude boiling chicken on top of his piano. He was in some Police Academy movies. Really nice guy.
Such a tremendous show; excellent writing along with casting and acting...Jerry and Larry really caught lightning in a bottle with the show about nothing.
@@billolsen4360 Maybe it's a rabbi that Jerry Seinfeld or Larry David(or even the actor )knows that speaks that way. That performance had to come from somewhere, it's kind of distinct.
His still delivery shows how completely he is detached from being a human being and only can relate to them from his position as a religious person, as he has been trained to be, with no actual feeling of being a human. This is why he has no tact and no understanding that what he says will make George uncomfortable and in trouble, and even why Elain would not want this information made public and would hurt her friendship with George. "Why? Is that a problem for you?' One of the most hilarious and su scenes and characters in Seinfeld, with a subtlety that one would find in very few other shows. Maybe in Frasier.
This skit of all the shows was one of my favorites...a non-stop laugh riot. Rabbi clouding the waters of all others who might interfere with his desire of requite for his love from Elaine. Skillful acting and oh my my just how did "Elaine" look...? What a knockout she was.
He and Larry David played a pair of martial arts rabbis on the show Fridays. They did a routine called "Matzoy" in which they karate chopped pieces of matzah.
The Catholic bishop in a sermon: This fellow talked to me recently about his ED... I don't know... lets call him... Matthew. I told him that God is all the love he needs. But the poor fellow's travails with ED... that's for another sermon. :)
I can watch that episode over and over again always puts me in a happy mood. That Rabbi he's one of a kind a friend of mine let's say his name is George he thought if he went to a prostitute is it considered cheating what a line
Now I have to go back and have a look at The Final Chapter again. Somebody else mentioned that he was in Police Academy and I think I remember him from there also.
Because he's not a Rabbi. He's the character of a Rabbi written for laughs. Of course, a Rabbi would not reveal private thoughts divulged in a private conference session.
Doesn't give you any joy to see your friend enter into this holiest of unions?? Elaine.. Always a pleasure to see you. Elaine you seem if I may say, troubled??! 🤣🤭🤪😝
Reminds me of my Aunt Barb...just blabs on & on to Anyone About Anything At AnyTime. Complete with real names & dismissive Judgement as she holds Whoever hostage to her gossipy ramblings. I hear wedding bells for Auntie Barb & the Rabbi...😂
I love this Rabbi I remember seeing him on the police academy movies. This route I can't keep his mouth shut going on TV talking about Elaine's friend if it's okay to date a hooker they'll never know they'll never see each other and of course George is watching the episode with Susan!!
I once knew a Catholic priest who had his own weekly one hour show on a Christian television station. He often used examples to make his points in the discussion. I later found out just like this rabbi, the priest was lifting his material from real world events experienced by his parishioners.
@bobinsuffolk I know! Why don't you call me names! You know, like lazy bastard and imbecile! That way we'll be sure to take you seriously and you wont sound at all like you're in junior high! The Rabbi is not very discrete He used the actual names of the people he talked about, and discussed their personal problems to others. Elaine and George may want to consult attorney Jackie Chiles for defamation of character.
This is my wife's favorite episode. She laughed until she cried.

I recall the word loser, peppered throughout the conversation
I don't know where the rabbi got that. I said "I'd never seen you looser"!
Ha. That’s the best part
For sure
Outstanding irreverence albeit staffy
that rabbi was in one of the Police Academy movies, I just saw it
The rabbi was one of the funniest single episode characters in the show.
He was in at least 3 episodes.
Perfect acting
I agree
Last scene with George and Susan was one of the funniest ever on Seinfeld, I remember loosing it when it originally aired.
💯😹
Did you find it?
@@ModMokkaMatti Wow how clever, you might be the next Seinfeld

George's face at the end of the video...Priceless......gotta lov this show man
The Rabbi's acting is so good lol
They had so many funny characters on this show, the Rabbi, The Librarian, the Mohel. Hilariously portrayed.
Love the part at 3:14 when Jerry smells the flowers, you can see how happy he is. They really enjoy each other's misery.
Yup they used to date kind of realistic thing that happens between exes 😂😂😂😂😂
“Elaine, very often we cannot see the forest for the trees…”
Yeah, I don’t know what that means 🤣
