To detoxify youtube home. we can create a extension where we ask user to define keywords and channel names, then using this parameter we can blur all those video which is not related to user given values on youtube’s home page. By this we can remove distractions also if user want to add any blur video/related channel into his parameters we can add. We can also do same this with search screen where if we can get search value from search bar we can apply blur on those video which not contains any related texts. Also we can give turn off turn on button anywhere in youtube’s ui if user wants to actually wants youtube’s recommended video to watch in his leisure time. By the way it will work only for youtube website not in the mobile app.

what if user wants to learn something that is not on his home page . in his example at least this was not the issue because when it surfs video on user's behalf , youtube recommend more of those videos on home page .

Talking about the detoxify idea:
UA-cam lets you create multiple UA-cam accounts under one Google account. You can use these multiple accounts to create different spaces with specific feeds according to the space.
For example, I have three accounts: Music, Work, and my main account.
The Music account has a feed full of music I like, and likewise for the other accounts. The only thing I have to take care of is that I don't watch pastime videos while I am logged in with my Work account because it can mess up my Work feed (only when I do this for a day or two).
In other words, watch and search for content according to the space you are in.
Also, switching to a different account is just a task of a few clicks. You get used to it after a few days.
I started doing all this a month ago, and I can already see the change.

I know this but still just one yt account works very well for me. So I never felt need. Even tho I have more than 6 yt accounts.
There is an extension called unhook. It can hide recommendations so you don't get distracted.
I use this one is for daily use, one for coding, one to explore, one for learning language

Bhaiya could u make a realistic capability expectations video for a fresh beginner. Starting from python then dsa then normal coding then web dev languages and at what stage should we be able to create xyz kind of projects.
You can start anytime after you have grasped the basics of programming properly (this doesn't mean DSA) after that languages and frameworks are tools to accomplish your tasks. essence of engineering is building things and you will learn by building so start to build these or any ideas as soon as you can!
Your question isn't wrong but as someone who has been in the same situation I have to tell you this -
Following any syllabus or roadmap of doing things won't get make you capable of building things, it doesn't work linearly like you are expecting it to like I learned python & DSA now I should be able to learn some technologies or be able to learn web dev. Or I know X amount of web dev now I should be able to build this project, Its not like a video game that you learn x concepts and unlock the ability to build y project.

Hi, currently I'm learning to code, but I'm stuck with understanding how things work under the hood. The main issue I faced was that I couldn't understand the functionality of the code I had written. I jumped straight into the development part. My question is whether I need to learn data structures and algorithms first or focus on development first.
You should do some basic dsa questions before development to get a grip on how code works

Detoxify is a good idea but the UA-cam data API operates on a quota system. Every time you make an API request, it uses up a certain number of quota units. You have a daily limit on how many of these units you can use. If you hit that limit, your API requests will be denied until your quota is reset the next day.
What happens when you reach your quota?

Hii ik this isn't related to this video but I have a question about gsoc and other such open source competitions....everyone says to get comfortable with one particular tech stack (I am good in front-end and familiar with backend, working on mastering it) but whenever I look at past projects on gsoc website, I can never understand them, they're always so complicated and use more than one tech stack and don't seem beginner friendly, how can someone who just knows how to build websites upskill themselves to understand all that complicated stuff?

Some of these projects are pretty much full blown apps. That's a lil too much if you just wanna get hired. But these are great to really test out your skills

Harkirat Bhayya , The doubt I had for project - 4 (uptime managemnt) if the website that has to be tracked has some sort of logic for api-rating / and if same url hits them bunch of times , what if the website stop responding to them , How uptime management software handles that ..? Or whatever I said makes no sense ..?😅😅
For that you can let the webmaster whitelist your server IP. Even companies like Google use this method for their crawler bots to show website content in search results.

I already made that UA-cam DOWNLOAD project 1.5 yrs ago lastly i might have updated its UI and crazier part you can download 2160p with audio. It was real fun making that project just bunch of integration i will say except for the UI and DB part otherwise its all the magic of the youtube_dl and pytube library.
I dont know If I should host it for commercial purposes. Any suggestion...?

is it just me or anyone else feeling these are not for junior developers. i only know MERN and i dont think i can create project i m interested in like youtube downloader without npm ytbdl package and that detoxify app.. they are just high level for me...

The good thing is that you are just 17 and know all of that ,polish those skills and look for more knowledge ,eventually you'll be playing between techs
bruh in 2 years you should be doing much more. not complaining, given your age, but try to explore more, other than just MERN. too much crowd. if you chose a niche, like web3 or maybe build your own prods, test them, cause youhave a lot of time

Detoxify sounds good. But from UA-cam or Instagram's POV, isn't it a bot adding farmed views? Can be a sore spot, especially for video SNS.. valid or am I overthinking it?

most problably yt has some criteria of when to actually count a video as viewed vs clicked. so , if the algo customizes our feed based on click , then it shount be a problem. but for view, yeah, it could be a sore spot, fake views, etc etc

I think detoxifying a great idea but I don't think the logic is correct. If you spam surf all the best written videos around a topic, then it won't show up in their feed as it's already seen, resulting in missing good content.
