As of a couple of days ago there was great news here in Canada that Terry Fox will now be on the Canadian $5 Bill. An honour well deserved and long overdue.
So happy he's being honored this incredible man , Proud to have him on our 5 dollar bill . I did many runs in his honor TY Terry ❣I still remember the day he passed 💔
Thank you for posting his interview. It was bittersweet to hear his voice again. Terry and family were neighbour's and friends with my family. Terry and I spent years picking strawberries together to earn money for back to school clothes. Terry was just as you see him in this video, determined, thoughtful, and so grateful and humble. Rest easy my friend❤
This made me cry. Terry was just a kid really, only 22 years old. He died 3 months before l turned 21, the Marathon Of Hope Run is in my birth month, September. I am 64 now, Terry should be 66 with grandchildren. I don't have grandchildren either, but l have always loved Terry. In his short 22 years he became the kind of Hero that could inspire anyone. Here in Ottawa we have a miniature statue in City Hall and a life-size statue across from Parliament Hill. No Canadian my age will ever forget the day we lost him. Terry Fox is a beloved Canadian Icon whose wings forever shine.🕊🤗❤️☘️🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦🎄
I have done the Terry Fox run several times (I walked) but I did finish them. Not enough people globally know about Terry and that is a shame. Terry Fox is a true hero in every sense of the word.
I would dispute that global part of your comment. The Terry Fox run is held in over 60 countries, and is the largest one-day fundraiser for cancer research in the world.
One of my all time heros, and the greatest Canadian of all time, not even a question. He will never be forgotten, we are still teaching people today. I donate every year, in memory of my uncle. Thanks for showing the video, though it's hard to watch, so heartbreaking, the courage of that very young man.
I was lucky enough to see him during the Marathon of Hope. He stopped in Gravenhurst, Ontario, for the night. It happened to be his birthday, so there was cake. I remember looking at him and thinking, "Wow, he's really just an average guy," and that's when I fully understood what a challenge he had undertaken. We finish it in his honour. ❤
If it weren't for Terry Fox, my older brother would be dead now, and I would probably be dead as well. I was treated for cancer in a fabulous facility that only exists because of him. I've long told people that he should be on our currency, and I will be thrilled to see him on the five dollar bill, just as I was delighted to see another true hero, Viola Desmond, on the ten dollar bill. These are the kind of people who deserve it.
So proud British Columbia has so many warriors: Terry Fox, the original Rick Hansen, parapalegic, man in motion, accessibility advocate, spinal cord research Michael J Fox, parkinsons research advocate
Don't know if you recognized the man in the wheelchair at the end of the video, but it was Rick Hansen "The Man in Motion", who a few years later had his own fund raiser, He wheelchair'd around the world for Spinal Cord Research.

Terry Fox wasn't one of the greatest Canadians. He was one of the greatest human beings.
He embodies what it means to be CANADIAN. Do what we can for each other. Thanks Mert. 🇨🇦🐉🤷♀️

I wrote to Her Majesty to have Terry knighted, but he died before I could send it
