    Wow I'm surprised that everyone in the comments is talking about the speeding fine, and not about how awesome it is that Louis is going to be planting trees in Zambia on a road trip with Ben!

      I was surprised also, I thought that was much more interesting than the speeding fine.

      I think it's because he mentioned in the title.. and because he called it 'stupid' it's a bit controversial, so although the Zambia thing is more interesting there's more to discuss with the speeding fine :)

      Yep. Expected him to be planting dandelions.

      +CodyBuffinton They didn't say much about it other than they're planting trees which is great. The ticket thing was at the end and is surprising he'd have to go to court and it seems a bit ridiculous so that's why everyone was talking about it.

    Dude, so stoked to go on this Zambia mission with you and ***** ! I've been a bunch of times - it's rad! For the people reading this, I'm not sure if many of you know, but Zambia has one of the highest deforestation rates in the world, so the work we're going to be doing there is super important. Amped!

    Speed limits exist for a reason and it doesn't matter how much over the limit you were, you were still over.
    The police chasing you up about it is less about you and more about showing everyone else that speeding of any kind carries serious consequences.

      @ddha0000 9 років тому +6

      again, there is virtually no difference between 30 and 36 when it comes to stopping distance. Everyone goes over 30, its extremely easy as its a very low speed, in fact, its more dangerous to constantly think about your speed but looking at you speedometer every 5 secs to make sure you are not a few mph over rather than just concentrating on the road ahead and know that you are roughly at the correct speed. i think there should be a little common sense here, going over by 6mph should maybe warrant a reminder letter or warning, a fine is ridiculous.

    • @AlexGCronkleton
      @AlexGCronkleton 9 років тому +6

      the good hustler 36 or 30 is not nearly as slow as you think it is. Locked in your car and in a rush 30 feels slow, but standing on the street, or living in a house on a street with 30mph speed limit you will recognize how viciously fast it is. And hitting an obstacle at 30 will make the point vary clear.

    • @ddha0000
      @ddha0000 9 років тому

      Sam Kent ffs dude. so your telling me you can stay at a constant 30 throughout a journey and never look at your speedometer. If so then well done you but most people are going to dip over 30 from time to time. Again, I would rather people concentrate on the fucking road than worry about their speed being exactly on the limit. a few mph over makes no difference. Come on dude, please tell me you aren't this stupid.

    • @ddha0000
      @ddha0000 9 років тому

      Alex Cronkleton that has nothing to do with anything, we are talking about a 30mph zone, 36 is no different in modern cars.

    I used to think god it's only a few miles over 30mph who cares. Then I watched a video about emergency stop times in residential areas and if you're over by even a little bit you can potentially kill someone and this is when someone is actually anticipating an emergency stop. When you're driving you cannot anticipate a child running onto the road so your stop time/distance is going to be even greater.

    • @aidanbk
      @aidanbk 9 років тому +13

      theres a reason people are fined for being marginally over the speed limit. faster speeds increase the energy of a crash by an even larger factor. the energy of a crash at 36mph is 50% bigger than a crash at 30mph, this can make all the difference if a car hits someone!

    • @missmeowsby
      @missmeowsby 9 років тому +1

      I agree he shouldn't have to go to the court over a fine and he should just pay it but usually radars subtract a few mph, or kph depending where you live, just in case. So he could of be going 40+mph. He did what was right by paying it but maybe they wanted the court hearing because he has received a certain number of tickets, we don't know.

    • @JoeRabone
      @JoeRabone 9 років тому +2

      The86Campbell the reason he has to go to court is because he got caught in September last year and you get a time in which you have to pay your initial fine, if you don't they take you to court, but obviously Louis has been out of the country for months so he probably didn't know about it

    • @JoeRabone
      @JoeRabone 9 років тому

      ***** you say that but can you imagine the sheer amount of letters he gets? He'll get official looking letters almost everyday, plus it's not his parents fault he was speeding...

  • @Simserlee
    @Simserlee 9 років тому +102

    i think it is a bit silly that you need to go to court, in australia if you are caught speeding you just get the fine in the mail and if you disagree you can go to court to contest it, otherwise you just pay it

If he sees it fit to include an intro just a few seconds longer (which i thought was brilliant and really shows the amazing way that Louis has inspired real people to make the most of their own lives), i think we shouldn't nitpick too much out of it. plus Louis did mention that his at-home vlogs chilling with the family are a bit more 'uneventful', so he could've thought that the intro might be a bit of a boost as well. all in good spirits man

    Yes okay it was only 6 miles an hour over the limit, which isn't a great deal when people are doing 100+ down the motorways, but you were ONE FIFTH over the limit, which is a lot. How about leaving places earlier and stop rushing everywhere because you're late before you've even set off.

    About your fine. They have to have a cut off somewhere, and you may have gone over. Here in NS Canada our cut off is at 3. We travel in km/h. Speed limit say is at 100km/h you can go maybe 103km/h and its left to the officer to whether you get pulled over get a ticket or a warning. You can post the fine lose your licence for one week (they choose the week and you are notified by mail) or go to court and protest.

    "Stupid Speeding" would have been more appropriate. Stick to the speed limit, and you'll never have this problem. Reckless driving is nor attractive. Speeding increases the risk of being involved in a casualty accident. Excess speed makes a significant difference to your ability to stop. For example, driving at 50 km/h you can stop your car in approximately 41 metres, but at 60 km/h it will take up to 58 metres before you can stop. Every kilometre of excess speed makes a significant difference to your chances of being involved in a crash.
    In a crash, the faster a vehicle is traveling at the time of impact, the more severe the injuries to the occupants of the vehicle/s involved.
    Crash, boom, bang, live the adventure!

  • @rocky315w
    @rocky315w 9 років тому +5

    It's not the fact that you were only 6 mph over the limit it is the fact that you were 20% over the limit. From a guy that does nothing but travel around the world living off of that very travel, should set a better example for his young viewers. You should simply pay the fine and admit your wrong doing and perhaps just one of your viewers would leaR SOMETHING OF VALUE.

    I'm not hating here but I just have to say this. It may have been 'only' 6 mph over the limit, but speed limits are implemented for a very important reason. You may think it's silly having to go to court, but if the government don't take this kind of action then people will reoffend and it potentially puts other people's lives at risk. The faster you drive the less time you have to stop therefore endangering other people. Just look at the statistics then you will realise the importance of speed limits and why it's not stupid at all to take someone to court for going over the speed limit.

  • @emilysal

    Hey here's an idea… Don't speed, don't get a fine! You do the wrong thing, then you can't really complain when you get punished for it, no matter how little over the limit you went. I don't know if you understand just how dangerous it can be if an accident were to occur at just a few miles over the limit.

    6 mph, thats almost 10kph. Thats a lot over the speed limit! In Australia if you go 3 kph (which is almost 2 mph) over the limit and the police catch you, you get a fine!

    He's not showing the best example to younger viewers about this speeding fine. It is what it is, and if you start playing with the law, it'l be a criminal record he'l have next, which could potentially stop him from entering certain countries. Going back to when he got into trouble with the RSPCA about the whole animal eating thing, which they found out about, you would of thought he would be a bit more mature about it, and realise what he has done wrong, and set an example to the younger generation of today, rather than complaining about how he's only 6MPH over in a video.

    Yes, speeding is speeding, I agree with everyone on the matter, but the fact that he's being dragged to court which costs thousands of pounds per hour. Then when Louis gets to court they'll give him a small fine (compared to the cost of running the court session) and points on his licence. It would be much easier to just give him the points and fine straight away.

    If you stole something as insignificant as a penny sweet, that's still stealing.Therefore while it may seem petty, in the eyes of the law, going just 6 miles over is still speeding and is still a crime.

    In America, well atleast in Florida, you can pretty much do 10+ mph over the limit with no real issue.....UNLESS it is close to the end of the month and you get a cop that needs to reach his monthly quota :/
