I adore this woman, she is a splendid violinist and she seems like a beautiful person inside as well. Thank you for this video, and please thank her for this very helpful suggestions.
I know this is NOT something easy, but I think I would very much love to see Mrs. Adams do a video demonstration of orchestral excerpts of how to practice, how to play them, etc. Thank you!
The LSO channel is awesome, not only do they provide incredible performance clips, but they offer very useful advice on how to succeed in their auditions....Applause :)
Hi Kathryn, they would be useful for auditions for any orchestra or college - they weren't meant to be specific to auditioning for the LSO, but should you find yourself in that position in the future they would probably come in useful... ;-)
Glad it was useful! Yes it's a general guideline but of course having sat in on a decade of auditions at Lso I am putting my own expectations across. The only thing I'd add is since the video, there have been some comments about wanting auditionees to play from memory. This would be made clear hopefully in any information u receive before any audition. All the best!
Romantic concertos tend to be more of a challenge technically and expressively. Not that Bach’s concertos can’t be these things, but romantic concertos consciously push the players limits in these areas which make them more suitable for auditions

vln111 are there scales at most auditions? And arpeggios? How fast should we play them, and vibrato or no vibrato on scales? Thank you soooo much!
Daniela hopefully this is something that I can ask the Lso to look into!
So great! Thanks, how about scales and arpeggios? How fast?
Fantastic video, and not just useful for string players! Is there any chance of publishing audition tips for timpanists and percussionists?
Can you suggest a good violin solo for performing arts hs audition?
com muito respeito a senhora, ficaria mais bonita naturalmente, sem tanta maquiagem.
es uma bela violinista. Brasil
Kiki o do u mean a piece for solo violin? Usually a violin orchestral audition will require 1st mvts of Mozart and a big romantic concerto.
Alright thanks!
Super
Hii is it possible to pass the audition without any music degree? It there any limited age?
I like this girl
Are these audition tips for Lso?
Why is it always Mozart's violin concertos?? Why can't it be Bach's violin concertos??
bach's ochestra's differ from philarmonic orchestra's i believe
because they want a romantic concerto
