      She programs her " Loop station " she plays far more than just a violin

      I think it’s a backing track. There are multiple strings playing behind the main violin that she is playing. You get the same thing at 2:15.

      I hated the song at first until I relistened it a few times. If it helps - the studio version is of course better

      the studio version is really, *really* nice. like luminous and vibrant and immediately captivating nice. i'm attributing this performance to a bad day or bad sound mixing. the NPR Tiny Desk performance is closer to this one, in that it's got more casual swag and less polish than the studio version, but it actually works imo!
