the studio version is really, *really* nice. like luminous and vibrant and immediately captivating nice. i'm attributing this performance to a bad day or bad sound mixing. the NPR Tiny Desk performance is closer to this one, in that it's got more casual swag and less polish than the studio version, but it actually works imo!
