24:00 When i was a teen, we went on holiday to Majorca. We met a young German lad who had been living in England for a year for school, so he had picked up our sense of humour. One night, we were leaving the disco at about 2am, and as he walks away after we all say good night he said "i go put my towel out now!" and we all fell about laughing.
I had no idea Mr Lock had been on so many Qi. It's lovely to be able to see him again. Gone but will never be forgotten. An actual legend in his own lifetime 😂😂😂
I’ve written this in other places, but it’s appropriate: when I first started watching QI, I saw that people had expressed their sadness about Sean’s death and how much they missed him. It was a very short time of watching that I realized why so many people had said that. It’s obvious that he was gentle, funny, charming and gentlemanly. I’m glad when I come across him. I’m sad that I didn’t “know” him until after he died. 😒
That would be good, you're right. But also how about we just be grateful that someone uploaded these highly convenient, uplifting compilations for us to enjoy for free.
Most (all?) of these clips are pulled from the QI UA-cam channel, which has already cut them that way. You can tell because occasionally there’s a tiny bit of the outro audio the QI channel uses left in that this channel cuts out when compiling the clips.
I'm English, married to a German and have lived in Germany for over 40 years. Every time there is an international football competition, I hear from my neighbours that Germany was robbed in 1966! Also, I once left a towel on my garden sun longer. My teenage daughter moved it and sat down . I said "As a half German , you should know that when a towel is on a seat, it's reserved" To which my German husband replied"As a half English person, she doesn't give a damn'"😂
26:50 when I was 7 years old, my family and I lived in Germany and we kids would race snails down the front steps as a game, Other times we would wear the snails on our face. Thank you Stephen Fry, for the memories.

@19:53 Obama said he was the 44th person to swear the presidential oath. I’m sure that anyone that served as President twice, had to swear the oath both times. The question was not how many different presidents there have been.
Yes, but saying "the 44th person" is still saying that 44 different people had done so. He didn't say "the oath has been sworn by people 44 times," he said "I'm the /44th person/..."
You CAN smoke cannabis mixed with tobacco as long as you keep your tobacco hidden. Once its in the joint the police dont have the right to open up your joint so you're fine. Outside, you csn smoke whatever, wherever, just around central station and the old city centre, you might get a fine....but probably not as most inhabitants AND the police oppose the restriction. I know this because i work in a coffeeshop in the centre of Amsterdam and explain these ridiculous rules daily.
I had a great time in Amsterdam for obvious reasons, and every coffeeshop I visited offered straight cannabis, cannabis with tobacco and cannabis with hash prerolled. It was genuinely this episode of Qi that set my expectations for how difficult it would be to have a spliff in your wonderful city.
The fact about slavery is incorrect. Slavery was abolished in the early 1800s. "Anti slavery day" was started in 2010. Its purpose was to "raise awareness"
The Spring reference to daffodils is absolute nonsense. Where I used to live in Upper Sydenham there was a tiny patch of land, with daffodils and other seasonal plants. The daffs would bloom at Christmas. Every year. Wells Park Road j/w Halifax Street, SE26. Now I researched that there are dozens of strains of daffs, and they flower from mid December to the end of July.

Galileo’s reasoning about gravity and falling was stupid. He said that if a light object falls slower than a heavy object, then if you attach them together, the light one will slow the heavy one down, and the heavy one will speed the light one up, which is impossible, therefore they must fall at the same speed. Although his conclusion - that they fall the same speed - is correct, but he’s not correct that it’s impossible to have one thing speeding another up, and the opposite doing the opposite. It’s essentially what a parachute is - the parachute slows down the person, and the person makes the parachute speed up.

@zirk007. His humour comes from acute and subtle observation. It is self-mockery in that he projects a certain kind of over-the-top Welsh earnestness. The “character” has no sense of humour whatever. And that is very funny in itself. You either get it or you don’t.
