Dang I've been trying to get this working for ages and now I find out it's so simple... I made it way more difficult for myself than needed be. Thanks so friggin' much for this :D
the best video for that matter, the only issue is that for the old DSM, but if you know that changes you can still apply, hope the video maker @TechCoreDuo not stop creating Nas videos .. Thank you
This worked like a charm! After a day of misachievement this made everything up to me! Thanks thanks thanks. So clear and straight forward, no bla bla. So refreshing! Have to say it again: Thank you!
This has probably been the most straight forward video concerning creating, hosting, and accessing a website on a synology NAS. This was awesome, and thank you a ton for posting this video. Being that I do not have a static IP, I need to use a dynamic dns for this. Have you had luck with setting up working with a DDNS for this process?
I'm a filmmaker and purchased a Synology DS920 to only hold files couple of months ago. Before this year, I'd never heard of the company, but now that I'm watching your video, it's exciting to know I can host a website for my film, without having to pay someone else to do it! How exciting! I wonder what else can the unit do?
Thanks for the tutorial - how can we get SSL certs on these sites? If we secure our whole NAS with a letsencrypt cert, will that carry over to sites hosted through Web Station?
Thanks for this! Do you know what would be the steps for adding a subdomain? I already have a website hosted in synology but would like to add a test one as a subdomain.
Hi, I wanted to know, If I buy one domain, can I create sub domains using this NAS device? So that way I can host multiple domains on the nas. This would be helpful for the kind of requirement I had to host 3 websites. Thank you.
no mention of domain names. My service provider gives me a random IP address. ~Now through the synology I can use the DS apps like DS Photo and DS Cam but how would I access my web page?
Can you host multiple websites via the NAS? I have a readynas and it’s basically the same process as you did but i can’t wrap my head around on how to host multiple sites. Please help, thanks!
Yes! You can create separate folders within that web folder. But under the web virtual hosts you would need to select that specific folder as root. Let me know if that helps.
Hello. I did this and found working good. However can you elaborate on how to use wordpress and also with secure certificate so that anyone who looks at the website feels secure.
I had tried to publish a simple website which I created on dsm 6 but the issue was when I try to connect from outside on my phone it opened too slow but in the lan everything is ok. Have you tried like that or the idea is only for home users?
Hey, great video. I was wondering if you knew anything about hosting Python Flask applications on Synology NAS servers. I have a domain, I have the Flask app programmed, but I can't seem to get it running on the NAS. I assume the process would be somewhat similar to what you showed in the video, but I can't find any good resources online. Any tips?
Ok, I am confused... I don't seem to have any option to create any virtual hosts? There's not even any mention of anything called "virtual host" in my web station?
in newer version dsm 7.0, then you got to web station then-> web station portal (the icon still the same as on this video) click on it , then -> "create". and you have to choose-> "create service portal". than you'll be creating yours virtual host same way as on video. synology had some changes in UI.
I'm in the exact same boat. I'm trying to work through it as I have myself set up with a DDNS service. just don't know how to link it to google domains in a way
To the Author? Are you interested in working remotely to get my Site up and Running on My Synology? Please let me know and I can get in touch with you. Thanks ... Don Tyers, Burlington Ontario
Can I hosting many different domain on synology server with mailserver with ssl protocoll? Would like to build my own hosting server for different domains different company's.
I believe you can, but unfortunately I have not set up mailserver yet. So I'm not entirely sure. I do plan on making a video sometime in the future and will keep this in mind!
I’m gathering what I need to know and questions I need to answer to host my website from my Synology nas. This was great thanks. Now Because my internet is from Wowway I’m assuming I have a dynamic IP situation. If so then is it true I need a DDNS service? Then my domaine name has to go to, through the DDNS service? Is that correct? Thanks
Hi! Under "Control Panel - Security" you can import your SSL cert. You will have to apply it to your domain from the configure button that is in that section as well.
the new basic page on Synology is no longer the blue one on the video but the one showing a female and on the bottom states "your website is not set up yet" , you can delete that page and replace it with your template or custom webpage.
than your screwed- but it should not happen much maybe only 1x/month just let your clients know it might send them to a porn or different site and they should retry the site in about 10 min
I've done everything exactly as in the video, but sadly I still can't reach my NAS outside of my network. When I type in the domain name I assigned my external IP to I get the message ' This site can’t be reached '. Ports are open for the network address assigned to my NAS, but I just can't get this to work. Anyone had a similar issue and resolved it?
Much has changed using DSM7.2, its such a pain in the lower extremities
Dang I've been trying to get this working for ages and now I find out it's so simple... I made it way more difficult for myself than needed be. Thanks so friggin' much for this :D
Thanks a lot, buddy! You just made it simple for digesting. Bravo!
the best video for that matter, the only issue is that for the old DSM, but if you know that changes you can still apply, hope the video maker @TechCoreDuo not stop creating Nas videos .. Thank you
So nice and straight forward tutorial without a blablabla.... Thanl you very much!!
How about using DDNS? Not everybody has a static IP address.
This worked like a charm! After a day of misachievement this made everything up to me! Thanks thanks thanks. So clear and straight forward, no bla bla. So refreshing! Have to say it again: Thank you!

Ha, yep, straightforward except for the trickiest part.

it costs 12$ a year to rent domains from google, so its not entirely free.
Thanks for the tutorial - how can we get SSL certs on these sites? If we secure our whole NAS with a letsencrypt cert, will that carry over to sites hosted through Web Station?
Extremely clear and works like a dream. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thanks .. 2 hours trying .. and you solved it for me in 6 minutes :)
Great Help!!!! now I have 2 questions. 1. how do I get it to display the site name instead of my ip address? 2. How do I make it secure?
Worked on the 1st go for me. Thanks much.
Thanks for this! Do you know what would be the steps for adding a subdomain? I already have a website hosted in synology but would like to add a test one as a subdomain.
Você poderia fazer um vídeo mostrando como instalar um site feito em php e banco de dados maysql?
Hi,
I wanted to know, If I buy one domain, can I create sub domains using this NAS device?
So that way I can host multiple domains on the nas.
This would be helpful for the kind of requirement I had to host 3 websites.

Awesome video, lot of good stuff in this one. This is exactly what I needed.
no mention of domain names. My service provider gives me a random IP address. ~Now through the synology I can use the DS apps like DS Photo and DS Cam but how would I access my web page?
Very helpful explanation, thank you.
Can you setup SSL between your domain name host and your NAS?
This would be my question too. Did you figure it out?
You can setup cloudflare easily. no changes required in the server side.
Very helpful and compehensive, thanks!
Do you know if it is possible to enable directory listing (e.g. by using an Apache Server backend and a .htaccess file)?

Nice and clear video
Hi, how to add a phpmyadmin database in there ?
I have an older version of Synology NAS.
Does it matter if my NAS is a little older than the current model?
As long as you have web station app it should be fine. May run a little bit slower depending on your model, but I don’t think it should be a problem.
definitely helpful ❤
How do you make it secure or rather how to add certs?
Ou should buy an SSL certificate
I’m gathering what I need to know and questions I need to answer to host my website from my Synology nas. This was great thanks.

Yes, that is correct. You will need a service to make sure it updates on its own.
Awesome.
how do you apply SSL certificate to a website here ? Pls suggest
Hi! Under "Control Panel - Security" you can import your SSL cert. You will have to apply it to your domain from the configure button that is in that section as well.
@@TechCoreDuo can we use backend languages also like python and php
I followed every step & for some reason it does not work. :(
Thank you sir
I followed EXACLTY every step but it doesnt work. "Your website is not set up yet."
the new basic page on Synology is no longer the blue one on the video but the one showing a female and on the bottom states "your website is not set up yet" , you can delete that page and replace it with your template or custom webpage.
