Hi. Thanks for the vid. Unfortunately no matter what I do to the hosts file, I cannot pass step 3. When I go to install, and try change path to the ip address etc, when I click next on language, it goes to the welcome screen setup, but defaults back to my synology address and not the domain address. Any ideas would be greatly received and appreciated.
I haven't seen that personally happen, but if it keeps happening, you might have to push through with the IP. You CAN change that field later - it's just not always the easiest.
@@WunderTechTutorials Thanks for getting back to me. The issue is, I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to these matters, so do you have a video of how to make those changes. @@77seiichi Unfortunately, if it didn't install that way, I think you'll have to go in and edit it. The steps can be found online (there are a few, so I can't document them all here), but that should solve your problem.
H, thanks for another great video. I do have a few issues. Since I'm on DMS 7 things are a little different. For one the virtual host is not in the same place but I managed to find it, LOL. (Web Station/ web service portal/create service portal, click on virtual host.) And I had to figure out that I needed to go to web station/scripting language and double click on the WordPress profile then extensions to tick "mysqli" 🙂 When I go to create the virtual host, web-packages folder is not an option, only web/web-images show up. Any thoughts on that. Also, the url in WordPress setting is greyed out, not sure if that is related or not, so I cannot change that and it still only works under .../wordpress Any thoughts on that? Thanks, William
I will have to look into this. My best assumption is that this is a permission issue on the folder (as of DSM 7) since the option isn't there for me either.
Any chance that you'd do another tutorial for setting up WordPress on the 7.X DSM versions? Lots of settings have changed and it's proving pretty difficult to navigate since the Web Station package can't see the WordPress installation directory without pointing to it using the Package Server Portal option. This also causes a lot to change when wanting to drop the /wordpress extension from the website's URL. Thanks, @WunderTech
@@WunderTechTutorials It still mostly works with some slight troubleshooting. So there's not a ton that changes, but for more first-time users it could be nice to see how to deal with the changes. Thanks for the vid!
I love docker for the portability, but when I was hosting my website on my NAS, I just used the package. Depending on what your goals are, it might not hurt to run it on docker - especially if you'll consider moving it to a separate device in the future.

Hi, the video is great and all, but i'm stuck in the stage of creating the virtual host. Can't select the wordpress folder because it's in web_packages folder, which isn't showing. I am using DSM 7.
I haven't tried this on DSM 7 yet unfortunately (still just have it migrated from DSM 6), but does the user you're logged in as have access to that folder?
I found the solution to this, under web station, go to web service portal, then create service portal, then create a package service portal and select WordPress. This lets you edit the domain and ports etc, without the need to put the path location to the WordPress web_packages directory, it already knows it's for the WordPress package.
