Did u say u connect pin 4 on top to pin 4 on the lower end then pin 3 on top where the label is to the same pin 4 on top then u connect a your switch to pin 3 and pin 4 to fully turn it on I just wanted to be sure

Viola, it's powered up without doing any jumping of pins. Just plug it in. Green indicator light comes on everytim
I have the exact same PS, I bought a delay relay for 6 bucks on Amazon and I was able to set the relay to delay trigger pin3+4 together to automatic turn on the PS after power each power cycle. I am sure there’s an easier or cheaper way but this is a painless solution since I only pay 15 bucks for the PS. Thanks for the video

@@jzonneveld9849 haven’t done it yet, ended up buying a lab/bench PS, but still plan on it soon, will update when I do but I’m sure it’s as easy as buying a relay that can be set time wise and soldering it in between the 2 correct legs of the PSU
Help. The light on my psu does not turn yellow even after waiting for more than 5 mins. There is nothing else on the web about this psu specifically. Can you tell me a solution?
Is there a specific method on this PSU for running them in series/combining them for higher amperage output? I’m looking to buy 2-3 more and wire them in a way that would provide 90amp x4 output, I’m going to build an enclosure for them as well with meters and hopefully a way to adjust the voltage from 12-15v, if possible. Been searching and can’t find any info on either subject I just posted, I’m still new to all this 😅
Thank you Matt for this nice video on the dell I have a dell switching in 750 watts and I would also like to put in series to have 24 volts I followed your recommendation and removed the 3 screws used for grounding, Can we optionally no longer use the metal box? and put a wooden box? is it possible? risk of overheating because the wood does not evacuate the heat? You have to remove the ground to the case if the cases of the two power supplies are touching each other when operating in series. You could run these in a wooden box, but they do get pretty warm when operating at half load and up. I would make sure they have plenty of ventilation. I think a plastic project box would be a better option than wood.
@@matthone5346 Yes you are correct. There should be no resistance between the ground tabs. Also, there are at least two different pin-outs for this power supply. On mine, both the large tabs are ground. There is an additional tab that is 1/4" or so wide that is positive. It doesn't seem big enough to handle 90 amps. And as I said before the green light on mine comes on and the unit is powered up when I plug it in. No need to jump any pads. I ordered a couple of 750-watt units where the pin-outs look like the 1100-watt unit you described. I hope I can get them turned on. Thanks for answering.
Why would you want to eliminate the DC ground? I need a cheap alternative to the expensive bench power supplies to test car audio amps, etc in the garage vs using my car and am about to buy this same unit for $17 shipped. Plz lmk, thx and great vid!
If you wanted to hook two of these power supplies up in series to create a 24v DC system, you would have to eliminate the ground in order to avoid a short.

I’m going to rewatch the video and search for more vids/info/other comments to see if I can get the voltage up to about 13v/14v but honestly even the stock 12v range will be fine for my testing purposes so not a huge deal, but would be nice. @@robinwagenaar9998 Ok, I just got the 555 timer circuit working with the power supply at the breadboard level. I'll post a schematic when I get the chance. But I'm doing a monostable delay-on 555 circuit and the resistor is 1.5 Megohms and the capacitor is 10 microfarad. You just need to make sure the 555 chip can work down at 3.3V, I'm using an ICM7555IPA chip for this, but there are others that should work too..
If you look through the comments, someone talked about how they added a transistor with a capacitor to automate the process. I put the power supply in a project box and added a on/off switch to control those pins.
Thanks for this I used your connections on a dell DPS750TB/ R510 750W power supply and it worked, the green light does not turn yellow it stays green but when pins 3 & 4 are connected I get 12.233V output I have not had chance to check if I get the full power output as I have just finished wiring it as per your video. Hey I am also running the same supply and was wondering how you connected it ? Previously I use the HP models where u had to connect pin 33 & 36. So as I understood you just connected all pins permanent ?
@@iTzMineCore I am sorry I can't tell you the numbers of the pins but after watching the video I bridged the 4th short pin from the left on the top to the 4th short pin underneath (again from the left) I added I short lenght of wire to this pin and put a switch on it then from the switch a short piece of wire to the 3rd short pin from the left I dont think it matters whether you use the top or bottom pins. the green light turns on when plugged in but stays green I then turn the switch on and it works. I have not tested it on any more than 7amps so far I hope this helps.
@@thingys-rd7id Did you used a resistor or just a wire. This pinout seems to be correct as the top 4th pin should be Return which is basically GRN and the bottom 4th pin is PS_ON and the 3rd is PS_Kill. So that should work perfect. I guess I will receive my psu tomorrow and give it a try.
@@iTzMineCore I just used a u shaped wire to connect the top and bottom 4th pins together and just wire from that bridge to a switch and just wire from the switch to the 3rd pin from the left as you look at the power supply with the pins facing you.
yes, you can buy a breakout board for it, then you can hook your atx psu to it so they are chained per say, so when one turns on they call come on, or one goes off they all go off, check out parallel miner . com
I picked up a dell 500w years ago mostly because it was cheap but most of them are but it was 80 plus platinum and I found the info but this would have been useful and I wasn't going make a video on it

You should practice a little bit more with the camera... The important steps such as the pins and connections are out of view.

I can't get the voltage to change, however. Also, there is a resistance between the two ground tabs. ??? Low just a few ohms.
I was never able to change the voltage on these. The ground tabs shouldn’t have any resistance between them.

I haven't tried putting them in series yet as I have no need for that much power. Let me know if you try it and it works for you.

If you want to double these in series to make 24v, the cases will short out if they touch each other.
