Hi folks this tune (with the entire solo and everything) along with many others has been transcribed in the soon to be released Official Rosenberg Trio Tab BOOK , made by yours truly, I just finished transcribing the last tune today :-)
I get to learn French and this piece ! Come si come sa! But I like the chords and the solo. This is Gypsy Jazz like Django and while it is a little hard to play there is a trick to the solos. Django only had two working fingers so many of his lines are easier when you do them with just two fingers and not four. They flow better. The chords are not hard, not if you already play jazz. I play Flamenco and classical and jazz. I have been playing longer than most people have been alive. 55 years. So you think it would come easy but you get used to your fingerings and this is nice to shake things up a little. Also I have to get through my arthritis a bit. I'm not as fast as I once was but I play with more passion. And I'm as fast as I ever was, once.
Oh my God, Stochelo is a magician! Loook 1:13 he makes a pick appear out of nowhere! Seriously, how the hell did he do that? I'm trying to figure out how to transfer from fingers to pick in this song, which I love with all of my heart.
That's true! For everybody trying to buy stochelo's guitar. They say he plays on a Eimers guitar but he never plays it. He always play on his Selmer. This Eimers guitar story is just a commercial stunt.
hey man.I dont know if your still interested in learning Gypsy jazz.if so my friend has a really great music school .its called dc-musicschool. it skips all the nonsense you find with many sites or 'gypsy jazz lessons' he has a course that breaks down the rhythm properly and gives you almost 30 different songs.then others for lead guitar that are all tabbed and come with spoken instruction from yorgui loeffler a well known master in gypsy jazz. anyone can learn if you dedicate yourself
(without too much music theory)Em, Em(with a Bb in the middle of the chord) Am, B, Em (in a nut shell). then the major part is Em to EM, Am, D7, GM7, CM7, Am6th, B back to Em.
Sorry Latches, this is NOT Stochelo's Selmer. Very easy to see, this is a way more recent guitar, probably the Eimers or something like that. His Selmer is easily recognisable, since it does look it's age.
It's an inherently difficult form since the musical standards are so technically demanding. I realize that Gypsies themselves start off at Gypsy Jazz and perhaps that's OK if you're 9 years old and beginning with competent, native instruction but for everyone else, having a firm foundation in, say, standard western jazz is probably the best way to approach learning jazz manouche.
No, it was from an extra in a french guitar Mag... No other tracks (I guess) and no subbing... Stochelo Just recorded a series of Tutorial DVDs, though, which will probably be released around June 2009... Check my vids for a clip on the "making of" those...
@astralfarts Stochelo doen;t use tritone stuff here... It's Eminor and harmonic minor at the dominants... If you want I can send you my transscription... Regards
gitane has modest copies ... they are good enough if you are not a serious player like him ... a freind of mine's got one and it sounds and plays great
I´m really interested in learning gypsy jazz, does anybody have a good idea where to start? Most of the songs are too hard for me, so something quite accessible would be very much appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
Because 99% of the european players are inspirated by american players. I am a player too. But my heroes are Django, stochelo, deLucia, Cristian Escoude, Catherine, Jan akkerman. I love european music. But most of the players like cowboy blues :)
john le voi makes the best gypsy jazz guitars in the world you can pay up to £7000 for a favino witch are good guitars but the workmanship isnt perfect, when you see a john le voi for £1500 and the workmnship being 100% perfect you no what to choses
Hey dmmc1043 Let us know where we can get this book when it is published. Thanks. As far as starting to play at 6 years old I did. But I really was on again off again on practicing as a kid. I wanted to ride my bike too. Not much has changed I ride my bike and play guitar. However when I was 15 to 33 I practiced and studied 12 to 22 hours a day. Nothing like acne and no self confidence to get you to lock yourself in a room and practice guitar non stop. By 17 and a half, when I blossomed I was an amazing guitarist who no longer had acne but had two girl friends and girls everywhere. I played guitar for the girls modern dance classes in high school. Lovely girls in tights siting on my lap and the teacher wow! Flamenco guitarist get all the women. The funny thing is you work hard and study and you have talent and you get better. Then you meet a symphony orchestra conductor, sit and talk about music and and you realize you're a moron. He's doing Quantum Physics and your doing basic math.
that's not really interesting, he just said "i would to show you some tricks for the intro's song "for sephora", I heard many guitarists playing it, and it was not really well played, so the intro is like this" *play* that's all
The E minor 9 he strummed before starting to speak was a small bit of heaven!! 5 stars!!
who can play better than stochelo? NOBODY !!he is a genius!!
Let's be stateless musicians on Earth together Lippy and Pompy. The web has set us free, we no longer have to be our nation's mouthpieces.
im 16 and ive just recently been comin across gypsy jazz. i just wanna say ive fallen in love with jazz and im lookin forward to a life of it. XD
Wow, 15 years later and I must ask how things are going.

Does he use his little finger to pick the string? There is no other way...He can not use the index finger since it is holding the pick. Rİght?

Alguém pode me informar quais são os acordes que Ele esta usando?
Don't worry, i would be very happy with only 1% of Stochelo's abilities! :)
I won't be taking a detour thrue regular western jazz to end up in gipsy jazz. I found that going in head first is going not that bad. Thanks anyway!
