That entire sequence moved me to tears. Not bawling, but my eyes were wet. "Enough... is enough." ^That, and everything leading up to it, was absolutely the most powerful scene in the game in my opinion.
@@coolguy02536 Ps4 version had easy mode but the xbox 360 version only had normal mode. The PC release does have both the modes but changing the difficulty in the campaign doesn't really do much, if you know the battle system well the entire campaign is piss easy until chap 11. In this fight, if you Haste and Enfrost Sahz, go into Commando and spam Blitz you fill up in entire bar guage in 20 seconds because Brynhyldr has a weakness to ice and Sahz'd Blitz is unique as it hits with mulitple projectiles which are weaker but count as seperate hits, so one Blitz is like hiting him with 20 ice attacks. Knowing the enimies weakness is most important in this game as staggering gets you a fastest kill and the correct paradigms to tackle those weaknesses is what game is about and that doesn't really change on either difficulty. All I know is easy mode increases drop rates of items, increases battle time for 5 stars and lowers your damage intake, i'm not sure if it does anything else , just lets you play sub optimal for less punishment, I never played the game on easy but it did take me 2 100% playthroughs to learn everything and the speedruns to learn tricks and gimmicks with characters like with Sahz in this fight.
Anton Gashi I didn’t know this! I played on XBOX 360 back when it came out and recently replayed on PS3. I’ll have to check that out again at one point.
I'm surprised you never SCANNED them to see their rapid requirements. Because most of the Eidolon's don't require active combat. For example, Lightning's Eidolon Odin required her to protect and aid hope, as a way of telling her not to go it alone and step on those that wished for her help. Bahamut appeared before Fang to help her make up her mind to fight her fate. Brynhildr appeared before Sasz to make him realize that there were still people that required his help, and for him to live on. Alexander came to Hope to make him realize his inner potential. Get the picture?
Oh...Well, Snow was determined never to give up, even at the cost of his own life. His desire and drive to protect attracted the Shiva Sisters, who arrived to make him understand that in order to protect others, one must be able to protect yourself first. Which meant not taking such foolish risks.
Crap, and I forgot Vanille. If I remember correctly, Hecaton (cannot spell that name to save my own ass) arrived to elaborate the point to Vanille, that lying and hiding the truth was getting her nowhere. She couldn't escape the truth no matter what, because eventually, it would all catch up to her, and she'd be cornered if she had no one to stand by her side.
Which is why I prefer to think of the Eidolon's as life lessons...Manifestations of the crippling flaws in their masters hearts, the things that would inevitably lead to their death and destruction. The Eidolons appear to correct those flaws, to make you aware that some form of action is needed, or doom will beckon when next you turn your head from the path.
Nah, that's not what happened. Originally, Vanille was SUPPOSED to become Ragnarok, but Fang did the transformation in her place. After they woke from their crystal slumber, Vanille decided to hide that little fact from Fang, who eventually recalled anyways. Which was why Fang's Brand was Sealed...she was practically destined to become Ragnarok again, and she nearly did. Vanille is literally a tragic case of "the little girl who tried to shoulder the burden of the world, and failed."
This game has a great story and well developed characters. Depends on whether you like how it's told. 15, meanwhile, has barely any story or character development to its name.
it's more like they appear when a person's will isn't in line with their own heart. they aren't following their own nature and are giving into despair, doing something very uncharacteristic. Like when lightning tried to abandon hope, or when fang tried to challenge the party instead of saving the world. or like the scene with sazh giving up. things like that force an eidolon to act.
most emotionally thrilling eidolon scene ever. I mean it shows that Sazh truly gave up and strayed from his focus, but the brynhildr came and she set him straight. I love Sazh! Time for a pain sandwhich!
I remember being absolutely blown away when I got to this part of the game, man it was so beautifully written with the music too! Final fantasy XIII is such an extraordinary work of art, even if there are others who don't appreciate it I personally loved its compelling storytelling and amazing combat mechanics. :)
Sazh jumping into the car after the battle completely threw off the seriousness of the cutscene. But god damn this gave off the Goofy death feels of Kingdon Hearts 2

Sazh, Vanille, Hope, Lighting, Snow, and MY LOVE FANG.....They all had soo much interpersonal interactions, desires, flaws, dreams, and ambitions with each other, all I can say this is what made me love this game despite it's short ass story and tragic ending (which didn't feel like a FF ending).
This probably sounds stupid, but every time I watch this, I keep wanting to add dialogue for Brynhildr. Something like, "Rise L'Cie. I'm here to show you what you're capable of." Maybe even a bit of taunting, like "GET UP" when he knocks you over. And maybe when you beat him he says, "CLAIM ME!" It probably sounds dorky, but I think it'd be cool. :)
This was my favourite scene in the entire game. This one even topped the ending. Vanille is my favourite character in the game, and to see her so upset over what she did made me like her even more! : )
Coming from a long time FF fan, I just played this game for the first time ever. The Sazh scene shocked me more than any other FF scene that I can remember, including Aerith's death. Didn't expect to see this from Square...
well this came at a time where open world jrpgs were at a popularity boom so most people just hated on it due to its linearity people hated this game but liked 10 which also had linearity to some degree that is some grade A hypocrisy. Plus I kinda get the linearity portion for most of this game the game designers focused more on story in the beginning chapters of cocoon so people wouldn't get too distracted with the enviroments and instead opted for admiration for the backgrounds Nautilus is by far my favorite location on cocoon. also don't let the linearity fool you GRIND YOUR ASS OFF!!! if you don't wanna die in one shot to strong enemies grind CP chapters 7-10 offer PLENTY of opportunities for grinding

Gotta say, the cutscenes bookending this battle and the one following have gotta be some of my favorite scenes of all time. It just grips the heart and shows true emotion. These definitely are in my top 10, no prompted me to make a top 10. With no other cutscenes it. Maybe I should find the other 9.
After failing a couple of times, I decided to go with your methods...Starting off with Undermine *really* helped, and I got it in one try taking a similar route as you did with the Paradigms...Thank you for helping me not get pissed off!
I knew Sahz wasn't going to kill Vanille. He has too much heart and he has seen the good in her. Game story is a bit predictable. It would've been a nice twist if you get to fight Vanille.
+hotman718 That would be unnecessary. In a way, yeah we can all predict he won't do it, but I think you are missing the point. It isnt that she almost died by him, it's about how all the build up of emotions and compassion they had for each other, was gone because of him finally knowing the truth. It wasnt about if he pulls the trigger, but it was him coming to the reality and realization of who she really is and he had to find out what path to take. Forgiveness and grudge. And it forced Vanille to finally confront her own feelings instead of just running away. That's what the scene is all about, the gun represents Sazh's emotions that cloud his judgement.
some people dont like it cause its all levels and bosses and not open world with sidequests like most FF games. plus the summoning bosses are are a pain. but the director said it wanted to make something completly original, and i think he has done it.
This was the best cutscenes in the game. This is the one they should have made an FMV out of. The battle was easy. Tide turner to get haste. War and peace to establish a chain, dualcasting to sent the gesault gauge sky high. Also having a maxed doctors code on sazh helps allot. potions do double the healing and you don't have to wait on vanille. 49 seconds is my best on this boss.
I love the 13 series. However I didn't get attached to the second game. Really with the way the first one ended, they could have stopped there. But the second game in my opinion just jumped the gun into something so whacky that they had just to nuke the universe and restart it at the end of the third one just to fix those story errors. (I happen to looove the gameplay of lightning returns tho)
This was a good cutscene. It was so good that I actually looked up who Brynhildr was because I thought Square was making up some more random names again. Im not a mythology major, sue me.
@gearsofcake12 if not using haste/vigliance: 1 start in Symblosis, cast buffs while Vanille heals don't use tide turner 2 change to undermine to start raising the chain gauge, change to war and peace to heal/freeze the chain gauge 3 use duelcasting/slash and burn to raise the chain gauge (don't let it drop back to 100%) and war and peace to heal 4 when the chain gauge in high enough use duelcasting as long as possable before healing i won doing that with the doom counter at 83
I was thinking that too. Just giving him a race car and extra ATB meant he was definitely gonna live. I don't mind too much since Sazh is my favorite from this game.
These comments make it obvious who has played other Final Fantasy games, and who hasn't. Yes Shaz is a slow attacker. He's the mentor of the group. That role has always been slow in past FF games (Vincent, Auron.) Vanille is the group ditz (yuffie, selphie, rikku). This is the first game where the ditz played a major role in the story, however. Gameplay? I was fine with it. If you want more gameplay over story, go play FF12, but you'll be back on youtube complaining about the lacking story.
Took me forever to beat her :( 7 tries, because I didn't learn haste and had no cp. If you have the same problem, use fortisol before entering the battle
@OmnislashDS Yayy thanks for that tip....tried this boss 5 times and died, then saw your comment and completed it first time!!!!! Thanks so much, you're a gem :)
Eidolon fights are more than just about acquiring the ability to freely use them. Think about when the appear, and what fighting them means to character development.
Don't complain about not having haste, the fun about these battles is trial and error, for me at least. I figured out about Brynhildr's weaknesses then just casted bravery to vanille and sazh, then let loose a barrage of magic spells(other than fire), then heal when needed to.
Tip: us tide turner and make sure u uff up ur team. then switch to dual caster and use aero everytime while vanille had blizzard. once u get to yellow, switch to yin and yang and keep atacking while vanille heals u. then swich back to dual caster. hope this helps.
@MasterNinja1250 maybe you did what I did the first time and accidentally pressed it :> When I get angry i tend to press a bunch of buttons. Cause i remember i was completely full and I had like 100 until i died, and I just started pressing buttons :D
@Slevinkelevraable Well, what's kinda' funny (and unfortunate) is that I ended up in the same boat, having to look it up... only to not need any of the information I found. I just reverted to before the boss that leads up to Brynhildr, ground up some CP and rethought my strategy. Next thing I know, I've got a good 350+ left on the timer when the battle ended. I was honestly shocked. For those who don't mind the grind, the little Zwerg droids are worth 128CP a pop.
@jdzspace Not to be snarky, but have you tried hitting the Gestalt button? I noticed it popped up during this video, and presumably the player hit it to trigger.
@LAGGZZZ haste is the first Synergist move Sazh can learn at the start of this chapter so it doesn't require that much grinding for him to learn it: learning how to use Sazh later in the game..now THAT takes some "grinding" for the players themselves LOL
@royery Just grind for a few minutes. It's not that high up on the crystarium. I always looked ahead when the next level was unlocked. I saw that Sazh would get Haste so I got it before they even left the station in Nautilus.

Or vanille fighting shadow Sazh
+hotman718 That would be unnecessary. In a way, yeah we can all predict he won't do it, but I think you are missing the point. It wasnt about if he pulls the trigger, but it was him coming to the reality and realization of who she really is and he had to find out what path to take. Forgiveness and grudge. Don't complain about not having haste, the fun about these battles is trial and error, for me at least. I figured out about Brynhildr's weaknesses then just casted bravery to vanille and sazh, then let loose a barrage of magic spells(other than fire), then heal when needed to.
The song is called 'Eidolons on Parade'.
@MasterNinja1250 If playing on ps3 press square when you fill it up, but on xbox it's x.
anyone know the song that's playing when brynhildr comes out?
Any tips to beat her? I was switching paradigms and almsot filled up the Gestalt meter but ran out of time
anybody know what the name of this soundtrack is?
Tip: us tide turner and make sure u uff up ur team. then switch to dual caster and use aero everytime while vanille had blizzard. once u get to yellow, switch to yin and yang and keep atacking while vanille heals u. then swich back to dual caster. hope this helps.
@Sevvy413 its Eidolons On Parade
For those who don't mind the grind, the little Zwerg droids are worth 128CP a pop.
i looked this up and played it as it was loading...i didn't expect to beat it first time without video. XD
Arguably one of the best Final Fantasy in my opinion. Arguably the hardest Eidolon to capture. Pokemon on steroids.
@jdzspace Not to be snarky, but have you tried hitting the Gestalt button? I noticed it popped up during this video, and presumably the player hit it to trigger.
2 ways to die from these bosses :
1 : hp gits to 0
2 : clock of doom goes to 0000
It's always the second one for me
Does anyone know the track name to this theme? It is amazing.
@LAGGZZZ haste is the first Synergist move Sazh can learn at the start of this chapter so it doesn't require that much grinding for him to learn it: learning how to use Sazh later in the game..now THAT takes some "grinding" for the players themselves LOL
People love to hate on this game.i been playing this game since 2011 I fell in love with it.i play all the xiii games in Xbox 360
@gigante1593 But Vanille didnt give up when hecatoncheir appeared. Was it because she lied?
@royery Just grind for a few minutes. It's not that high up on the crystarium. I always looked ahead when the next level was unlocked. I saw that Sazh would get Haste so I got it before they even left the station in Nautilus.
Ppl were mad cuz they couldn’t go to the little towns and steal stuff from the one room hut npcs house lol
i forgot this music plays for this Eldolon fight than it does for the other Eidolon battles, i like both but i like this music better
*Eidolons on parade*

@@Noyojo001

@@monkeydjimmy5169dunno if you found it since, but the song in the scene after the fight is called "Game Over"
@Sakurairo250 I read the lines are slightly different in the JPN version does anyone know what they are??
@amyroseyougirl Sazh didn't die, you can tell by how they say his ATB bar gains a section, and lol they wouldn't give him a eidolon if he died
I love Vanille! she is so cute!
