The only reason people are saying start him is "Whatever, let's do it" or "It's football... be a man." Those aren't particularly great reasons not to put him out there when he's shown the right things in practice. This team is going to be awful either way, so no reason to ruin him against a team like the 49ers.
I was begging for the patriots to Draft Drake over Caleb and Jaden. The kid is a phenom. I’m still happy they did not start him. I feel like next game. Jacoby will come out early after taking a big hit and Drake will never give the job back.
Jacoby is the starting QB. I agree with that decision…. Not because I think maye is bad but because I would rather see him stay in the bench the entire season so he can learn!!!!
I think the patriots know that. They know how good drink will be. He just turned 22. There’s no need to rush it. Use next Draft to get the best tackle sign a veteran receiver go from there.
@@nihilo616 ya, great choice. We don’t need to get the best receiver in the league and pay him a boatload of money. We can do something like Chicago did with Tina and Allen. A very good veteran receiver. Not top five.
As long as Brissett is able to go then he needs to start. Maye needs to continue to develop from the sidelines and absolutely needs to stay on the sidelines until the OL is fixed. One of the questions I would like to ask Mayo and Van Pelt is this. If we had an all pro OL right now, would Maye still be on the sidelines? My personal feeling is no, he would be out there.
Maye will 100% be the starter at some point this season. What I don't want to see is the Patriots rush him into a situation where he's set up to fail (like so many fans are clamoring for), and he develops bad habits, loses confidence and breaks like so many other young QBs before him.
Putting Drake Maye out at QB1 behind that O line right now would be a HORRIBLE idea! Drake Maye will get sacked 60+ times, losing all confidence in the prosess and he may never be the same. DO NOT put Maye on the field until that O line has been addressed and fixed...
No need to rush him out there and potentially hurt his body or confidence. Let him sit this year and learn. Pick up some pieces to help in the draft and free agency, then give him the keys to the car next year
Lets be fair here, Yes Drake Maye did have some good plays and got down the field. Did he have to convert multiple 4th downs that would've just normally ended in a punt? Yes. Was he facing a Jets defense that knew they already had the win? Yes. Do the patriots have one of the worst o lines in the NFL? Yes. Do rookie QBs continue to struggle with there new offense and transition to the NFL? Yes. Drake Maye is a fantastic future for the patriots but no way he should start. Have him learn, get used to this new coaching scheme, AND BUILD AN O LINE.
They should start Maye only if they want him to suffer a season ending injury. 50% pressure rate? They are historically bad right now. Not only should they not start Maye, but they should hurry up and sign a veteran backup because the brisket is being beaten to a pulp and won't last much longer.
I think he should start week 5 when KB and strange comeback and i would keep lowe out till week 5 as well id feel more comfortable wit that line up and just let wallace develope at right tackle because i like mike at Right Guard 😂😂. They got that giant LT from greenbay. lol, get his big self out there, lol. But that would be my ideal solution, but im not opposed to letting him develop.
They know he’s the better player with the higher upside. It’s just that they have a plan and their sticking to it . Either way this season is going to be what it’s going to be . There’s no rush to get him in . Let him continue to develop.
@@stin3781 so hed be like Jaden Daniels with situation or JJ Mcarthy. Either way he should still learn what a bad oline is and if he can adapt imagine with a good oline. Burrow and Herbert showed that but yeah. At least have him take snaps even if they tank
I disagree. Both Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe were so traumatized by the lack of pass blocking that it effectively ruined them. The QB is not the problem. A young QB cannot develop if he is running for his life for 4 quarters! The saying that the game is won or lost in the trenches is true!
He will be before the season is over and you will see how raw an unprepared he is at QB1. In the NFL .Hope I’m wrong but I doubt it. IMO he doesn’t belong on the field this year. Not with this O-line no weapons. It’s a recipe for disaster.

@@PowerHourNFL I believe your expectations are to high. Manning and Aikman barely won a game there first season. Mahomes sat on the bench. Let’s build a team before you send him to the wolves
I'm really sick of hearing "let's start Maye." Of course he's a more physically talented QB, but he's just a kid. He lacks any real experience. He NEEDS time to learn. Notice that he didn't take 1 snap under Center. Let him learn. They're preparing him to be a QB1 that can lead this team, BUT why risk ruining him behind this OL if it isn't necessary? NE will really be in the shite if they start him before he's ready and it messes up his preparation or even worst...he gets seriously injured.
