Nice catch.... It originally stemmed from poor technique on my grip of the sticks.... I played with larger sticks when I first started and would power through cymbals and it would alleviate stress on my wrist.... I still catch myself doing it from time to time

I try to watch the little things. They tend to make the difference. Haha. Interesting stuff though. Glad to know there's some logic there though.
