Moving here from Tampa Florida this year. Weather is horrible here. We visited Denver suburbs and then visited Colorado Springs. It’s a little more our speed given we’re conservative. I’ll be very proud and thankful to live in the springs!
I am a native Coloradans here. Colorado Springs is the second largest city of the State of Colorado after Denver. Population here around 500K now. Colorado Springs has changed a lot now. More crimes everywhere, more shootings, more homeless people everywhere and many more. Colorado Springs is a military town and different kinds people came here from different States mostly from California and Texas and when you mixed them together, they do not get along. Lots of gangs here now. I still missed the old Colorado Springs in the 70s where it's nice and peaceful. Good luck to you all if you ever decide to move here. It's still a beautiful city for me.
Gangs? Colorado Springs is nice and the migration is helping it's economy. I hope more businesses continue to grow here. There are places that have exponentially more crime than COS. The local news barely has much to talk about unlike other major cities.
Yup, this is a military town, supporting the USAFA just up the road. Had to hit some older maps to determine that, indeed, Nevada Avenue is the old US 85-87 (and, at one time, Business I-25). US 24 took Cimarron Rd. to Nevada, then north to Platte and out of town (that has been rerouted several times over the years; Colorado was Business 24 ). The mountains are right on the west side of town.
Moving from Tampa, FL to the Springs soon in 2025. I'm so excited because there aren't 50,000 cars all waiting in traffic bumper to bumper. If this were Tampa you would have had a pick up truck with bright LED lights tailgating you the entire time even if you're in the passing lane.
@@LoloP-t4s I mean, despite my snarky original comment. Tampa definitely does have its perks that I know that Colorado doesn't. I just moved to Aurora, CO because of my husband's job, so I didn't end up in the Springs. But you definitely do have to worry about cold weather, slippery roads, amenities are sometimes slower here (like some businesses won't open up at exactly the time it's posted & our garbage collection can get delayed). The traffic in my area is 10000 MILLION TIMES BETTER than it was back in Florida. Traffic hour in Aurora is absolutely dead in comparison to Brandon, FL. 😆 But the more you move into Denver, the busier it gets and then I get back into the Tampa groove. Colorado Springs will probably be a lot less busy in general if I were to assume. Utilities so far have been waaay cheaper than in Florida. But I'll have to see if that changes next month. But I know TECO is raising rates yet again, and I'm so happy I'm not gonna be subjected to that BS. Groceries are a teeny bit more expensive, but marginally so. I definitely coupon clip more here than I did in FL but only because I'm cheap. Gas prices are about 20 to 30 cents cheaper per gallon on average here than in FL too. All in all, I'm super happy so far. But I'm only a month post move, I'm sure I'll find other stuff that makes me mad at Colorado soon.
Lived here for years but it has changed for the worse especially since the pandemic nothing has been the same, drugs all over the place, I work on tejon street and my car has been broken into 3 times within a couple years. You should have cruised the west side, nice scenery and authentic old Colorado vibes.
pretty city but suffers from the same problem all these post-war car dependent cities do.....besides some limited central core area that might be bikeable (not even walkable)....the rest of the city is extremely spread out and overly car dependent.
You say that like its a bad thing. We don't live on top of each other in a rat filled dump like New York or Chicago. Our kids have safe spaces to be kids still without fear of being ran over or worse. We have plenty of space to actually live without being stacked on top of each other. We also have an expensive bike network that doesn't rely on the roadways and having to fight with motorized vehicles to travel.
@@Fellzu I grew up here and live here, they're right, it is a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with dense and mixed use development or as you put it "being stacked on top each other" cities like that are more livable and offer more amenities, as a kid growing up here I had nothing to do here because of what you preach. even downtown feels like it's lacking. Americans need to understand this is not ideal living no matter how we try to twist it, and if you don't want to be "stacked on top" then there are more efficient methods to that than destroying rural areas and open natural space with more sprawl.

We are trying to figure out if we want to put roots in Tampa or Colorado Springs.
When you do move here, i recommend avoiding Academy and Powers Boulevard during rush hours. Looking forward to having more people here :D
@@DemonzSlayer49Thank you for the tips.. I’m excited for the move..
I’m moving in 2025 from Tampa too!! Won’t miss the swamp weather everyday & north east retirees!

I see what you’re taking about Mileage Mike. Not small town or sleepy town feeling.

@@Fellzuif cities would have been made more walkable, you guys wouldn’t be obese.
@renaudgg1956 Colorado Springs actually has an 89/100 walk score. It isn't lack of walkability causing obesity.

@Fellzu you're a boomer. Get with the 21st century. Car dependability is ruining cities like this
You didn’t go through the America the murder park!
He drove past Memorial Park and its toxic lake though. That was pretty brave
Lib central, no thx jeff
Colorado Springs is a Republican run city. You can tell by the fact that they invent crime here.
Colorado Springs actually is a right leaning city. I’m guessing your not from CO?
This is a deep red state and you can tell with the lack of infestructure. This place sucks ass
You got to wait 3 days to buy a gun, no thanks! 👎@@JaredRichey-ly9qr
