PECS or the Picture Exchange Communication System makes an alternative communication system for children with ASD to convey their thoughts and needs. Learning is made easier in autism when it is done visually. In PECS a child can initiate communication by showing out picture cards relating to what she or he is trying to say. It could be picture of a fruit indicating that the child is hungry. We follow PECS in our centre to help children with autism.
