    Hey this was awesome as always and you triggered lots of happy memories and connections for me again ❤. So, it was via fundraising gigs for Task Brazil and Casa Jimmy that I ended up meeting Jimmy in November 2005!. I honestly thought Montreux was just the two numbers,wow.... but I love the video of the guys recording my bucket's got a hole in it... it's infectious and such a joy to see Ahmet so happy. And fun fact; my Brother plays hurdy gurdy and is friends with Nigel Eaton!!!
    Now, I wanted to close with a theory, maybe a fantasy... Robert performing Stairway the other week, and Jimmy back on stage a few days ago..... maybe another chapter is about to be written? A super solution for World Peace if ever there was one. I live in hope. Thanks my good Friend ❤

      Martin i love your theory! Had the exact same thought the minute i saw Jimmy's DoubleNeck. That would be a monumental chapter for Peace and also would make us think...time is running out. Your brother is friends with Nigel? Wow that's so cool and the fact you mey Jimmy himself. Do you think your brother could get me in touch with Nigel Eaton for an interview? :)

    JCM, you wizard. Silently zooming in on Page fidgeting like Bunter Hiden at a WH office party luncheon. No narration necessary.

      Thanks John! This period was fascinating. Montreux has always been home for memorable performances of course. It's quite a forgotten show in the Page and Plant world, funny right? I thought they did a great job overall. The 2007 reunion was really the perfect moment to hold such an event, unfortunately at the expense of Ahmet's passing almost.

    Nice! 19:49 Page dips into his rockabilly run from the “Whole lotta love” medley from “The Song Remains the Same” concert..Not as powerful, but Jimmy doing his thing with the people Robert most likely wanted on stage- 72/73 page for me is the greatest guitarist of All-Time with JPJ and Bonham engine, but Ive loved Pages playing in any decade. I hope you’re feeling better Jose. Amazing how you find all this footage. Great summary. I saw the Honeydrippers back in 85, it was hard work trying to enjoy it. I understand that these two feel a need to represent the music that inspired them….but leave it to the Stray Cats, who do it real justice. The Strange Sensation proved to be Roberts last real stab at having a rock backing band. Jimmy fell in love ❤and maybe out of love with music other than 2007. Love these anecdotal episodes that really tell the story of Page & Plant, you can also see how huge Peter Grants influence was over the product Led Zeppelin, without his guidance, it would have collapsed after 18 months. Keep on keeping on JCM.

      Hey Paul, thanks for your comment. The Honeydrippers in 85 yeah....a different concept from the organic 1981 stuff. I know what you mean, i remember going through those recordings thinking, this is a bit too much. The Stray Cats were great yes! I say the Strange Sensation was one of his last stable bands for sure. A fantastic cast. Peter Grant and John Bonham kept that ship going. The more i look into things...besides being a musician, as a business/marketing major i am fascinated by the case study method into analyzing the world's greatest rock band!

    Robert has always been the musical chameleon, and I hold him in great respect for that. His work with the angel Allison Krause proved that beyond any shadow of a doubt. He went to brand new, beautiful places with their original material. Many Led Zeppelin fans have no idea what a challenge it is to do that. Jimmy’s adaptability seems more forced for him, and I do not criticize him for that. It’s a big deal to make such a jump.

    Thanks for another great episode! First thought, why didn't they play Hot Dog for that show? It's the most rockabilly thing Zeppelin ever did. Candy Store Rock is one of those numbers that should have been an outtake. Now for my main thought/question. Plant could work with just about any guitarist in the world, so why doesn't he choose Jimmy? I used to think more that it was because Plant didn't want his older self unfavorably compared to his young golden god days. With the body of work they have done, you'd think they still have some magical partnership that could still create greatness, but now I'm thinking it's more about Jimmy. Page was fully on fire for only 10 years, 68-78, and since then, it's been 45 years that he hasn't really done anything new that's legendary IMO (other than Unledded). Part of it is that he never developed as a singer and he cannot really lead a band by himself, he needs a frontman, and the only real frontman he's ever worked with is Plant.He's dependent on Plant to fully shine, but Plant is not dependent on Page. Jimmy is a phenomenal talent, but it seems that he never developed a writing partnership with anyone other than Plant, and maybe Jimmy's creative juice is gone. He seems to be only capable of going back to the Zeppelin vault and he can't break any new ground. There are millions of people who would love him to play Zeppelin until the day he dies, but Plant is no longer interested in that. I just wish Jimmy would go back to the creative well and crank out something. With his prodigious talent, there must be something possible. Maybe work with Rick Rubin? Come on Jimmy, show us what you've got while you still can!!

    • @RainsonZeppelin
      @RainsonZeppelin 10 місяців тому +5

      Yes I agree. Jimmy looks to the great past, Robert always looks to the future, to do something new. I once read that Robert asked Jimmy to compose some acoustic guitarwork, but he never did come with something. If Jimmy would compose new things and I hope with John Paul Jones together, that would be a way to get those great man together!

For him it was full project established to made records n'stuff, but record with premiere material didn't really delivered, so... back to LZ tracks. Plant crowl out from collaboration just before he would be artisticaly dead.

I think I still have it somewhere mini disc recording made by a friend. that was the last time I saw Jimmy Page in person (except one other time in front of his house, as he opened the door for his house cleaning lady). I saw plant at least ten more times, also forming relationships with some of his collaborators (I'm a musician too). in any case I congratulate you, I spent my entire adolescence studying, collecting anything that had to do with LED Zeppelin...then I stopped dedicating myself to other things but your storytelling work brought me closer to my favorite band !

Just bouncing from thing to thing, reshaping Zeppelin along way and removing the soul from it. So many covers, too. Old age comfort food. Jimmy at least had passion. I don't think Robert wanted to grow with Jimmy. Jimmy would have. Robert's muse is spent and is non-compatible with Jimmy anymore.
