Cool dude, and he is a rare example of a new frontman to a well-known band with a very very distinctive sound and singer, who fits instantly, not being a copycat or anything, he got his own style. New album is great!
He`s fantastic! Really reccomend checking out The Good The Bad And the Zugly, his other band who he played with for some years before joining Kvelertak. They kick all kinds of ass.
Ivar could have been a big rock star many years ago, but I don't think he really wanted - or wants - to. Couldn't have been a better fit for Kvelertak! And everyone should check out his other band, The Good,The Bad and The Zugly as well. He already sings on two of the best albums of the year with his two bands!
Every friday I get to steam off with Kvelertak. Norwegians gets to evoke how it is to live in arctic to the point where you understand. Splid was introduction to the band. They are sneaking to be one of the greats where you think, well, that make sense. I don´t give a f who is who, but Ivar, you f-ing rock! This summer I planning to experience you live. So what about add yourselves to more of Scandinavian festivals, ´cause this summer looks golden! Copenhell?
i dont think anyone can fully replace the stage presence and black metal shrieks of the wild man that was erlend. However, Ivar is doing a great fucking job adding into the more punk rock elements of the band and has a better suited voice for those aspects.
After Erlend quit the first name in my mind was Glenn Reaper, one of the old singers in Purified in blood, esspecially considering they had a brotherhood as both bands grew, I even thought "if it isnt glenn they go for that gutural voice of Hallgeir, but that really isnt what would look good on them." This dude is totally nailing it, I'd go as far saying he outshines Erlend Vocally, esspecially because of the more melodic and harmonic guitar melodies we heard on Natteferd, his voice is so much more dynamic for this band that I can only say it was an upgrade to get him. Glenn would have sounded like a more higher pitched singy voice compared to Erlend whereas this guy has the harsh voice they need, but still alot more dynamic than Erlend. Still does'nt mather, I loved erlend's vocals, and i hope he will return to a band anyday soon!
Kvelertak managed to replace a great singer with another great one who has a similar tone of voice but not a copycat. It makes me think of AC/DC when Brian Johnson replaced Bon Scott!
Another example is Mike Patton replacing Chuck Mosely in Faith No More, Mike was not a similar tone but just a way better singer with shitloads of variety which suited their sound.
Undoubtedly one of my favourite vocalists ever 🤘
Soon in europe ...
Silver will forever be my favorite band. Fucking love Ivar's voice

Silver were the best scandinavian-kids around 20years ago!

This guy is like a norwegian Axl Rose or something, which I love btw 😂
Very good comparison ! Very punk attitude
Interesting interview!
Thanks

Shit, viste ikkje om at di tenkte å ha Reaper i bandet etter Erlend
Erlend is in a pure black metal band actually
@@LetsPlayKenny Which one?
@@blackantares it's called djevel(devil) search djevelheim
Edit: nevermind he quit that in 2016. Worth checking out though

Yeah this could go down in history as a similar thing!

cool dude
Did he enunciate the K in Kvelertak?
Yes..
This guy is trying so hard to emulate fenriz
Is he drunk? :D
No
Kvelertak was never a really good fit for Erlend.
why not?
