    Hi! I came over to this video after seeing your post on Instagram. 😊 The work you have put into this ballet studio is such dedication and already it looks BEAUTIFUL! It's truly a dream home studio for any dancer. The transformation of this space is amazing to see in all of your before and after shots. It will be exciting once you finish the floor, mirrors, and everything else needed, but already you have a great area that can be used! Thank you for sharing and this will surely be helpful to other dancers who are looking to take on this type of project! 💕

      Thank you!!! I do hope this video can be helpful to anyone else doing a project this size - I certainly scoured UA-cam for every flooring video I could find haha :) Thanks for coming over here from IG! 😃

    Nice video and dance space. Can you link us to how to make DIY ballet barre or ideas for sturdy practice barre that is portable as in throw into small SUV and use in the field/gym?

    Wooo! This is so cool! My first thought was actually that you needed to get some art, so I'm glad you've got some coming. And you have sky-lights! I've seen people make sprung flooring out of pool noodles.. definitely more labor-intensive, but an alternative for people who just want to make a small section of flooring perhaps?

    • @BallerinasByNight
      @BallerinasByNight  2 роки тому

      Right?! I can't wait to start adding in some warmth and personal touches with art work! I considered the pool noodle route, but knowing they would all need to be cut precisely the same stressed me out and seemed like more work, so I was excited to find a ready-to-stick option! I think you're right though that it would be a great option for a small floor!

      @@BallerinasByNight also, I love plants! I have quite a few at the moment, but some of my low-light/corner of the room favorites are my spider plant and snake plants. I love me some viney plants though, and wish I had more.. any ideas what kind of plants you might be interested in getting?

    Congratulations!! What an incredible private dance space - a dream for any dancer! You can take class with friends, teach class, use it as a photo studio, rent it out for ballet themed parties....! It's really great to have you posting on UA-cam again!

      I agree how amazing! I am so happy for you and also I’m awe. I hope one day I can have a space like that!
      I am going to use your tips. I have a house with wood floors but it’s on a concrete slabs and I take mostly zoom classes. I am trying to save my knees and ankles and was looking up spring floor options and they were all so so costly like the pre made or semi premade ones , I really need the padding I can’t be jumping on literal concrete 😢
      I am gonna try to copy your ideas and make a large low spring floor to hide under my area rug in my living room. I’m excited and thankful there are options for an 8x10 or so for me that won’t cost a crazy amount! I also need market for pointe work I am slipping a lot as I get to more complex work! Even in flat shoes I am slipping it’s time to get a dance floor for safety.
      ! Thank you so much!!!

    Hey there, thanks for the video! Can I ask, now that it's been 2 years, and in hindsight, would you do anything differently? Is it workiing well?
    I'm going to build a contemporary dance floor in my new studio :)

    How close together are the foam blocks? Looks like every 2 feet? Or every 1 foot? Thx

  • @isaacscot8602
    @isaacscot8602 Рік тому

    Great video, thanks for sharing. When you mention screwing it in, did you mean screwing the top plywood layer down into the bottom layer? If so, how often did you place screws, and did you have to be careful to miss the foam blocks? Thanks

    • @BallerinasByNight
      @BallerinasByNight  Рік тому +1

      Yes, exactly! Screws went in every foot or so, I believe? I'm having a hard time recalling now! We were concerned about hitting the foam blocks at first, but since it was so hard to tell where they might be we just went for it and didn't have any issues!

    Looks good so far! Also I have been looking into getting a ballet barre or making one actually so I'll definitely check your video on the one you have. Buying barres seem so expensive :/ And I am so worried of buying one and it being wobbly and cheap lol.

    • @BallerinasByNight
      @BallerinasByNight  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Yes, everything ballet can get expensive haha! If you want extra stability with the barre tutorial I would get a thicker pipe than in that video! I have the thicker one for the barre here!

    how is the heating/ac in there? is that door to the left side a bathroom? would be super handy! it looks beautiful !!

    • @BallerinasByNight
      @BallerinasByNight  2 роки тому +1

      Heat is good, air can have a harder time keeping up with the Oklahoma summers! It's a wall unit, so it's loud! That door goes to a single car garage. No bathroom, unfortunately 😭 Super excited nonetheless!

    Why 2 layers of plywood?

    • @BallerinasByNight
      @BallerinasByNight  2 роки тому +1

      Stability! The single layer would be too bouncy so the weight of the second layer makes the floor more solid. Two layers are done on top of traditional lattice sprung floors as well 👍
