A leading figure in Korean abstract sculpture, Park Suk Won

A leading figure in Korean abstract sculpture, Park Suk Won has spent the last 60 years working with traditional sculptural materials such as stone, stainless steel, and wood, emphasizing the pure physicality of the materials.
He introduced his Informel abstract sculptures in the 1960s, and from the '70s onward, he presents his Accumulating Meaning series. Repeating the geometric cutting and stacking of traditional sculptural materials, he is recognized for his minimalist abstract sculptures with themes of 'repetition' and 'multiplication'.
With simple forms that are completely devoid of any representational elements, his work has established a new stream of Korean abstract sculpture through his own unique method of 'accumulation'.
