I didn't have to hill starts, and have to stop so often, and move back to traffic. They checked my parking, emergancy brake, city driving, and motorway skills, that's it.
Kind of nice that the UK allows using GPS during tests. Sweden doesn't; the examiner gives a destination, and the aspirant has to keep a sharp eye out for signboards, to navigate to the goal.
I can see why he got the speed serious fault. The tree on the left was covering the sign, but on the otherside of the road was a small national speed limit sign. Was quite unlucky I felt. @@dindinj2875 hi. Yes I passed first time with 2 minors, and 24 hours of overall lessons. One was I wasn't obvious with my over the shoulder check, which I did, and the other was a lady ran in front of my car to catch a bus. I thought I put gear in 1st, but unfortunately was in neutral.
very illuminating video as always. its always interesting to see what is revealed by these tests. with no cameras all around him i bet he'l fly through his practical.
22:08 When he emerged from the side road and pulled out in front of a car I think he was positioned too far back to make the decision to move sensibly as he could not could not see sufficiently far down the road. Peeping and creeping until he got the full view was required in my opinion. This is best done when it is clear from the left as it gives vehicles from the right an option to go wide and around you if absolutely necessary .
When peeping and creeping if that car from the right has to move over into the right lane due to you being over the giveway line is that a driving fault??
@@adamek9750 When emerging from a side road where it is not easy to see sometimes the length of your bonnet is such that you cannot effectively see until the front of your car is sticking out into the main road. In this scenario you must not just shove the front out into the main road and then stop. You should stop short of the give way line then edge forward as in peeping and creeping. If you choose to do so when no traffic is coming from the left (which is easier to see as it is on the far side of the road) then if traffic is coming from the right but it is not possible to see it until your front is sticking out slightly the traffic can move wide to pass you. If you move out when traffic is coming from the left and a car comes from the right there might not be enough space for both cars and your front. It's a force majeure, you cannot sit at the junction forever saying I can't see properly.. If it is a fault you have sixteen available. If cars come from both directions and one is forced to do a rapid stop it will be dangerous or serious.
Just for comparison, here in Serbia, you must engage your turn signals if you are passing parked cars or actually obstacles on the road, whether you are crossing on the opposing lane or not. It's a minor mark. Speed limits, as a new driver, you get a 2 years of "beginners" drivers licence where you have a different set of rules, one of them being your speed limit is 10% less than the one set. Also the parking tests are done on a polygon, also 24/7 blinking stop lights when you are doing any kind of parking. Also the polygon test contains a rapid speed gain in 1st gear to 30kmph then gently slowing down without locking up, then you have going 1st to second gear and gently slowing down in front of a target point (getting close to it as much as possible). Then you have to go slalom in reverse avoiding the cones. Then goes the parrarel and normal parking -> then goes the driving through the city.
His Nigel act makes for a dry and slightly intimidating examiner. Props to the student. So brave to do a mock test on camera. Hope he passed his reall tests
These videos have been helping a lot recently my test is soon and I’ve been doing well but this is a just tips and things that could be useful which trust they are
I failed my driving test. I wasn't ready. Your examiner took action During your test your examiner needed to take physical action. Your serious faults Control - Steering Progress - Appropriate speed Use of mirrors - Change direction Your driving faults Progress - Appropriate speed, 2 Signals - Necessary, 1 Reverse park (car park) - Control, 1
i hear from several people the drivers test nearest me is a quick loop around the wallmart a half mile down the highway from the dmv 😭😭😭 5 to 10 minutes and youre done lol still practicing everything i can tho no gaurantee im gonna be asked to do what they were
Totally sympathise with the parallel park nerves there! I've also got the methods of reverse into a bay and parallel park mixed up in my head, if I'm *thinking about it too hard* instead of yknow, doing as I was taught! It feels like the most difficult manoeuvre to master.
It may just be a camera thing, but at that speed and it being a brick wall, I daresay some examiners would happily mark that as a serious fault. My examiner brought up a driving fault where I was a little too close to the hedges and said it could well be a major had I been going faster. Having said that, really solid driving by Harvey and helpful commentary from you! Have you considered filming a mock test with an experienced driver or a former pupil? I feel like that would give some good learning points there too (and help keep us "experienced" drivers humble!).
“There may be one manoeuvre”….Crikey, on my test (‘82) I had iirc, turn around in the road (three point turn back then), reverse around a nearside corner, emergency stop and I think a few pull over and-pull aways, one of which was a hill start. There was no independent driving or theory, but you did get asked a couple of Highway Code questions such as how to road side park at night etc.
recently took my driving license, the amount of situations i got myself into throughout the course that were interpreted variously by various instructors and then variously by various police officers(who are present at the exams) or those that were imho unpreventable led me to a simple conclusion that in case such situations happen in your exam-drive you are done, period, no matter if you are jesus christ or f1 driver or police officer themselves. I could go on with a list of serious faults, but any insanity counts - a tree in front of a sign you didnt see? bye bye. incorrectly parked car blocking a sign? bye bye. a sign >turned 90 degrees by someone?< bye bye if you make a mistake, exam over. A MISSING SIGN ? your fault, bye bye. Car passing you on the right(im eu) going double speed limit? bye bye, your fault not his. You try to make space for them in the other lane? you blocking them, bye bye. It was aboslute insanity the amount of out-of-my-control situations that were considered serious faults, where 1 serious=the end.
i think some examiners are just jerks, ive heard people taking exams in other towns just to avoid infamous examiners, but i dont know how true that is to be able to just go somewhere else where you dont live
@@shoyrushoyru Very possible. I read on the news the other day, about someone who traveled from London to a small town with no roundabouts in Scotland to take a test because she was scared of roundabouts and wanted to avoid them. She still failed though 😃
Sounds like it could be an attitude issue. There are occasions where a sign is obscured, but you still know a sign is there, or maybe it's missing entirely but your experience tells you there should be a sign in that situation. Then you can make an informed decision to slow down and proceed as cautiously as possible. The wrong attitude would be to see an obscured speed limit sign and think "that tree is covering the sign, so nobody can blame me if I drive at 70 mph".
Well done Harvey, you've got the makings of a good driver. But mind those walls, they can be very unforgiving! Richard, just a wee suggestion, you could get a couple of toy cars to help to explain what can happen when they're manoeuvring too close to other vehicles.
Do you not have to use your turn signal when going around obstacles (such as parked cars) in the UK? Here in Czechia, you should always put your blinker on when you're changing direction to go around an obstacle and then once again when going back into your lane/side of the road. A lot of people fail because of this.
Props to the learner to agree to being filmed, if I had been in this situation, I'd have been so nervous😅

In fairness to his serious speed, that national speed limit sign was completely covered by tree
In Australia, it wouldn't be counted as any form of failure as it was only visible to the driver for a second.
But was also clearly visible on the right

22:08 When he emerged from the side road and pulled out in front of a car I think he was positioned too far back to make the decision to move sensibly as he could not could not see sufficiently far down the road. Peeping and creeping until he got the full view was required in my opinion. This is best done when it is clear from the left as it gives vehicles from the right an option to go wide and around you if absolutely necessary .
I agree, didn't i suggest this to him at the end?
@@ConquerDriving Yes you did but I had not got that far when posting.
That's quite different to the UK.
His Nigel act makes for a dry and slightly intimidating examiner. Props to the student. So brave to do a mock test on camera. Hope he passed his reall tests
These videos have been helping a lot recently my test is soon and I’ve been doing well but this is a just tips and things that could be useful which trust they are
Thank you for your videos and taking the time out to make useful tips for us! 🎉
Thanks for all of your videos. Helped me pass first time theory and practical.
That's fantastic news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
I failed my driving test. I wasn't ready. Your examiner took action
During your test your examiner needed to take physical action.
Your serious faults
Control - Steering
Progress - Appropriate speed
Use of mirrors - Change direction
Your driving faults
Progress - Appropriate speed, 2
Signals - Necessary, 1
Reverse park (car park) - Control, 1
Thanks a lot for uploading a ton of informative videos, it really helped me a lot!
Today I passed my driving test in first attempt with one minor.
That's fantastic news! Congratulations on passing!
Delighted to announce that I passed my driving test this afternoon with 1 minor
That's fantastic news! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
really nice editing! makes it very enjoyable
My drivers test in America was maybe 15 minutes 💀💀
i hear from several people the drivers test nearest me is a quick loop around the wallmart a half mile down the highway from the dmv 😭😭😭
5 to 10 minutes and youre done lol
still practicing everything i can tho
no gaurantee im gonna be asked to do what they were
Got my test on Thursday. Nervous but seeing other people's tests (even mocks) are still helpful to rationalise it
Good luck!
Watching this having passed last Wednesday, First time with 9 Minors. These videos really helped!! Especially the roundabout ones!!
That's great to hear! Thank you for watching and congratulations on passing!
Well done, Henry. Didn’t expect to see you here 😂
@@dale_1524 Small world 😂😂
I failed driving 40mph on a 60mph road and this vid triggered me 😂 great driving & great learning ! Thnx for sharing
That speed fault was very unfortunate, the national limit sign was obscured by the tree.
The sign on the right wasn't. Easier to see in person also.
It could possibly be a serious fault, comes down to the individual examiner. I may do that in the future.
The streets are so narrow in the UK... I think there is not enough parking space for all the cars on the street.
How did he not laugh when the guy went out the car and back in I would have lost it hahaha
39:45 dude just explained parallel parking in just 3 seconds! just like that!
Love mock test videos!!♥ Thank you so much! wish to see more!
recently took my driving license, the amount of situations i got myself into throughout the course that were interpreted variously by various instructors and then variously by various police officers(who are present at the exams) or those that were imho unpreventable led me to a simple conclusion that in case such situations happen in your exam-drive you are done, period, no matter if you are jesus christ or f1 driver or police officer themselves.
😂
I love watching these mock tests, very relaxing to drive and learning a lot as well :-)
If i had an instructor like richard i would be super happy
passed my driving test the other day first time with only one minor fault! thank you so much for these videos they are so helpful :))))
That's fantastic news! Congratulations on passing!
Do you not have to use your turn signal when going around obstacles (such as parked cars) in the UK? Here in Czechia, you should always put your blinker on when you're changing direction to go around an obstacle and then once again when going back into your lane/side of the road. A lot of people fail because of this.
That was a fantabulus lesson, I really learned a lot,,, Thanks Mr Sir😅
Very helpful video Richard.
Nigel is such a character, I love it
All his serious faults could have been easily avoided. I think he will pass with a little more polishing. Good driver
