There are a couple of ways you could do that. the most straight forward would be to automate the wet/dry amount knobs either inside whichever delay plugin you choose to use, or the wet/dry knob on the corresponding FX slot in the mixer insert.

When you're trying to automate a knob or wheel that you cannot right click and select, create automation clip. All you have to do is, after you click Browse Parameters, at 15:04 from the drop down menu, with the library open. Move the knob or wheel you want to automate, the channel should be indented in the library list, and the list will auto-scroll to show the channel. 15:17

Awesome vid thanks! I wanted so many knob tweaks I couldn't get my head round it, no one can't point and click that fast, even with a massive external midi controller I needed many extra hands and very complex knob memorisation, that put me off using FL in the past.

I have a question. Something I haven't been able to figure out for years. Say I wanted to bring all the automation nodes down by 50% without moving them one by one. Does FL have a tool for that?
Please help me with this issue with automation clips:- Whenever I automate anything, like volume, and when I go to change the levels on automation, the line of automation starts creating "markers/level points" on the line WITH LEFT CLICK!!!
i mean, normally the automation level-markers would be created with RIGHT CLICK just like you did it @ 5:00 .. the problem is that it is not letting me adjust the levels because it simply DRAWS the levels as long as i left click and move mouse on the automation clip. : ( this problem started suddenly today

When you open up a new vst, two windows will show up: your plugin window, and Channel Settings. There will be visable a keyboard, with orange mark on "C5". You can change it to any key. C4 will make it one octave down, C6 one octave up, and so on.
But I highly recommend you to buy even the cheapest keyboard. It will speed up every process that is related to music production. (I suggest CME M-Key v2, it's cheap and awesome, I have this one for a long long time now and still works great).
Hm, strange. Even in FLs 10 it works normally. Sorry, I don't have 11 yet. But you may want to see settings in Optins>MIDI Settings within FL studio. Or.. maybe it's just that FL11 have a different settings for computer keyboard, and it may not work in the same way as in the previous versions. But if I were you, I would check MIDI settings. Good luck.
ok thanks, but i mean in the piano roll of fl it self the notes have different settings and dont know how to change it there. I want it z be the lowest sound and p or ] the thighest sound and in fl studio 11 it changes that, that layout notes was in fl studio 9 normal like how i want it like the z button is the lowest sound.
I cannot edit my automation clips, I create them but I have no way of tweaking them. I have used them heaps of times in FL 8 with never an issue, now using FL 11 I can't do anything except place them, right clicking them will only delete them. Can you help please?
Great video, as always! One question.... what if I want to do very specific automation, so for example I want to add some delay to my snare drum at bar 16? So I guess what im trying to ask is how do I automate effects into specific channels without the effect being added to the whole pattern.
Hi Seamless great tutorial! thnks for this! Is it also possible to select multiple points and move them all up or down? So say you have a volume level automation clip and you want to bring the level down.. How do you do that in the automation section?
My keyboard layout is massed up, if i type zxcvb its low sounds, but when bnm pressed its very high sounds. do you how i can reached the settings of my keyboard layout? i want the sound from Z (low) till letter P(high). cause i dont have a piano yet.. lol
Seamless, when you set down new points within the automation clip, you do so rather quickly, so as a whole are ctrl+clicking or right clicking? Basically I have trouble making the peaks/ dips so symmetrical and can't really edit them so quick
I knew about the "last tweaked" feature awhile ago before I stumbled upon this video. In my case I applied this to a third party VST or two.. and in lesser words, it was like Armageddon in underruns on my CPU. This also happens when I automate the tempo in FL. I have pretty good PC specifications so I'm sure it's not a memory/processor issue. Have any ideas on what might be causing this?

To all the noobs (yes, you, reading this right now, unless you're signed to a label), learning to automate things can make you a much, much better producer, because it helps you create variation without using more instruments and sounds.

is there a way to automate a pattern that I've made from scratch? I want the automation to control the volume of the whole pattern, does anyone know how to do this?

Hey there, you can instert all of the layers in the pattern into 1 channel in the mixer, then underneath the selected channel their should be a volume slider thing, that controls the volume for all the stuff that has been inserted into that channel, right click that, hit create an automation clip, and fwala!

Cool, all stuff I have came across and figured out just by using the program, but good information for those who might not know.
What pisses me off is the undisablable smoothing on Automation Clips. Say I want to for instance make a sawtooth-esque automation shape with a quick attack. BULLSHIT! There's always too much attack and release added in by the FL Engine. So instead of a saw wave I get an undefined blob with no precussive attack at all.
I have an idea based on what you demonstrated with the LFO modulation of "mod X" from Sytrus around 9 minutes and onwards…
Well, when you make synths, you use parametric EQ's to do frequency automation and one of the ways in which you do this is to have a single band pass, along with three notch filters and then you automate the frequency of each filter to create filter movements right? And you do this by drawing in your own points randomly as well.
So basically, what if you do exactly what you did with "Modulation X LFO" at around 9:14; where you automated the LFO speed, but you can also automate the amount along with the speed at the same time (the amount would be how far the LFO moves up and down) but instead of modulating the "Modulation X LFO", you modulate the "parametric EQ band 2" for example which could be your notch filter or band pass filter. This will create the random filter movements which you do manually but it may achieve better results. I don't know. Maybe give it a try?

I was wondering how I'd be able to automate the melody I used from Nexus and Serum to start low to high...couldn't seem to figure it out yet in FL. Could you guide me in the right direction? It's amazing how most beginners can't keep up,but before i saw this video....I had to teach myself how to use automation clips. (Only through countless hours of reading the FL Studio Reference Manual lol) but this video taught me WAY more than the manual did though.

What about removing automations ex: volume. When i deleted the volume automation the song still uses the last "removed" automation. It will automaticly move the volume knob even tho the automation is removed from the playlist. Got any clues how to fix that?
reset the volume knobs controller from the automation
Right click on the volume knobs that you made an automation clip on, and hit reset :)
I would always have this same problem :/
You can find out what parameter you're moving in the list to the side by keeping the list open and moving the knob. It'll auto-go to the parameter on the list.
In FL12 at least, idk about below cuz I did it on 12.
I want to know how i can do if i want to record automation clip using my midi controller. Now i link to controller the parameter that i choose, but when i will go to record (in the playlist, like a song mode) fl studio save the changes in "Edit Events", i dont know why. I want to know if is possible record (using midi controller obviously) the classic automation clip with which you can create inflexion points. I hope u understandme, i dont know speak english so good.!

NI Massive does not have x and y modulator. Not every synthesizer have one.

FL studio was invented by Image-Line. SeamlessR is not working for IL.
I'm having a problem when I highlight the area and create a envelope/automation clip it continues to play through the whole song.how can I make it to use the envolope only where I have it highlighted?
Im having a problem where my automation clips aren't letting me edit them. Like you know how when you usually make an automation clip and it has the two dots on the ends and the circle in the middle. It doesn't have any of those and its just a solid line that i can't grab and manipulate. Any ideas?

hi seamless, dope tutorial homie.. im kind of frustrated because when i try to automate a certain part of a song on a specific track, it affects everything before the point i want it to affect, andf then it stops the automation. i have tried closing off the little points on the automation box thing witht the dots but it still somehow affects the entire track instead of a specific point, please help! this is so frustrating

hey man how do you reset an automation clip? i think i accidentally made a pitch automation clip clicked in it and then deleted it(i was in auto mode lol) instead of undoing the pitch change and then deleting it and i cant seem to find the same automation clip again to fix it?

im using fl studio 12 but my automation clips dont work on my project. They appear once i add it in my track but i cant edit them at all.
+Lorand Zonda Make sure they are un-muted, if that doesn't work try going into your browser on the side of fl studio, go to Current Project>Patterns>Initialized controls. There you will find all automation clips in your project, select the one that doesn't work and delete it, try making it again and see if that helped.
