Rebekah was kind to give Eliezer a drink from her jar and humble with the heart of a servant to water the camel's for Eliezer. She had a strong countenance and did not shirk from hard work and sweat. That is most beautiful in God's kingdom! Do not look for physical beauty, Physical beauty is fleeting. Her character lasts her entire lifetime.
@@1966bluemax Does this verse say anything about an arranged marriage? Was the marriage between Rebekah and Isaac arranged? Is an arranged marriage a crime?
@@1966bluemax Please refer to Genesis 24 for the complete narrative on how a wife (Rebekah) was found for Isaac. It does not even look like anything you are implying. Abraham commanded his oldest servant Eleazar to go find a wife for Isaac from Chaldea, my country, my relatives but not from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live. Eleazar then says to Abraham, "Suppose the woman is not willing to follow me to this land? Should I take your son back to your country? Because she has the right of refusal, then how is this looking like an arranged marriage? Jesus' favorite retort to the Pharisees (I am not saying that you are one?) Have you not read?
@@wetlandweasel all I am saying is it is not the typical boy meets girl then they get married. It was arranged in a sense that Elizier, not Isaac, arranged it. Sure, Rebekah has the right of first refusal. But, it was still arranged. We can call it partial arranged marriage or arranged marriage with conditions. But, it really does sound arranged to me. The question is is this prescriptive or just descriptive. I guess it’s just describing the way marriage is arranged in a normadic, middle eastern, background. Hence, the question: “does this mean the Bible prescribe arrange marriage?”
