The song is basically them telling the world they can say whatever they want, they’re uniquely them and their hateful babble is inconsequential to their global success. I would suggest watching the explanation video by DKDKTV either on the channel or in your own time. It explains the significant symbolism in this video. Every part of this MV has meaning. Almost all of it is Korean cultural references. DKDKTV is a good way to get insight into the video. To answer your question about lightsticks, YES! You can absolutely buy one of them at their concerts. They have a specific booth just to sell them and others inside the venue to help set them up. It's actually probably the easiest way to get one if you have a concert near you and as long as you go to their merch booth (don't buy them from someone random) they'll definitely be official.

This whole video is a big middle finger to haters. They were criticized for having green screen and too much color in videos, so they went extra hard with them here. They were called too western and not having enough Korean culture and sound so they went hard with both here, and also, as you saw, at the MMA live performance of Idol. RM was criticized for using Snapchat filters on VLive so he uses them here. Suga was called too pale, hence the Snow White sweater. J-Hope was called too skinny and Bugs Bunny, hence his Bugs Bunny sweater and dancing with the skinny inflatable guy. Jimin was called too feminine, so he goes hard with a more feminine mystique here in using a feather fan, etc. V was called an old man and a grandpa for his love of classic fashion, hence his outfit and suspenders and his repeated “grandpa dance” moments in the video. I would suggest *Boy In Luv* THEN *Boy With Luv* , both are songs from MMA2019 that caught your attention (they performed them back to back) *Boy In Luv* is one of their much older stuff, when they had a darker and more aggressive sound/style, and the song centers around teen love. Then *Boy With Luv* is sort of a response to Boy In Luv to showcase their growth and change, showing how their perception of love has matured. Something like that haha

This song is and will always be iconic... It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I still remember how Exols filled the comment section with love and support! Never saw a stronger and more heartwarming interaction between Exol and Army... It was just beautiful 💜💜 and as an Exol myself I felt really proud of both fandoms. This video is such a trip. lol... And, it's meant to be. This song takes a few listens to really digest. But, it is one of their most iconic songs and plays into their concept of "love yourself". For next BTS reaction I suggest "I NEED U". It's some contrast to "IDOL" as it's not so cheerful. Quite the contrary actually, it's a sad song with a powerful sound. "I NEED U" is also song which won for BTS their first trophy and started the rise of their popularity
I watch this and I recall back to when I first found BTS and became an ARMY, it was them performing this song on America's Got Talent that drew my attention, they saved my life and changed it for the better, and I look forward to telling them some day what they did for me.

Idol wasn't my favorite BTS song at first. But, going to the concert in LA and being a part of 70,000 people of all walks of life, ages, creeds, colours and ways of living as a community screaming at the top of our lungs, "You cant stop me loving myself," was one of the most cathartic and memorable moments of my life. Pure magic! I love it and them so much more after that. 💜

The light you’re talking about is an ARMY Bomb and yes, you can pick one up at the concert. They’re about $50 USD. They connect to an app on your phone. When you connect the app to your seat location, they Bluetooth lighting content to your ARMY bomb and that’s what makes all the awesome designs and rainbows, etc. during the show. It’s awesome! I saw them perform this live at PTD Vegas. It was at about the halfway point of their concert and they were EXHAUSTED already. IDOL came on and the whole stadium was literally jumping up and down - it was this electric bolt of lightning. I will never forget it! That was when Jin said that ARMY is like a battery for BTS, recharging them! :)

Yes this was my first song of theirs, I imprinted on them immediately and took the dive down the rabbit hole. I just was amazed by the dancing and the visuals and how great they all looked (esp. Jin, who is still my ultimate bias, lol). I do love that MMA also, AND you will love it even more if you watch it with the DKDKTV explanation, because there is a lot of layers and symbolism here! I personally vote for you to react to Dope next! It’s such a bop and I’m not sure you’ve heard it at all yet. 😊 And yes, you can buy their lightstick (ARMY Bomb) at their concerts. Make sure you give yourself most of the day to spend at the venue on the day of the concert because the merch lines are insane! There are usually shorter lines for booths that only sell lightsticks but if you want anything else it’s good to go early in the day. Lightsticks are so fun to collect because every group has their own version and they are all so cool! Once you get one it’s hard to stop collecting them for the groups you love!

I haven't been to a concert either...I live in Canada, BC, but I have watched their online concerts....the bombs are amazing to see. I'm so glad you finally got to see this!! I have been waiting a long time haha. When this song came out, they had been gaining a lot of attention in America and were getting criticized for selling out to western audiences, seeking western validation but still being "too Korean" for mainstream audiences, losing who they are, etc; idol was the final title track of the Love Yourself era, and flew right in the face of all that criticism. Couple other things: if you want old school bts, watch "boy IN luv" (also "war of hormone" and "just one day", unrelated but so good lol), if you want newer bts watch "boy WITH luv" for their adorable collab with their years-long friend Halsey. These two songs aren't directly related aside from their concepts being about love and how their views on it matured over time, so you don't need to watch them in order! I want to support you getting into a bts concert so badly lol but there's a lot you need to know beforehand. Yes you can buy the lightsticks (army bombs) at the venue BUT if you choose to try to get it this way, prepare for a very very very long line, like hours long, and get there early. It is an all-day event. Supply chain delays and shortages are still the biggest obstacles to getting an army bomb right now, they're barely even available online on their official shop. Also, when the time comes and if you haven't already, get onto the weverse app and BUY THE ARMY MEMBERSHIP. That's the ONLY chance you'll have to get in on any ticket presales, and even that is not guaranteed. I know ticket selling laws are different between the US and the UK but not sure exactly how anymore, but I believe you'll have less risk of every ticket getting picked up by bots and scalpers. But if and when a show is announced, look this stuff up so you'll know what you'll need to do to get a chance at ticketing at cost. Army ticketing is legendary for being a bloodbath. One of these days I'll be able to catch a stream haha, but anyway sorry for the info dump! Really hoping they'll be able to tour a bit for you and for everyone else!

I love the message too - they aren't going to change, BTS is going to love themselves regardless of what haters and/or any one else says about them. Yes, you can buy the ARMY bombs (light sticks) at the concerts. I purchased 2 for my daughter and myself online prior to going to the concert. When all the fans are waving their ARMY bombs, it feels like you are just one big family and it feels SO GOOD!!! I really hope BTS announces their tour soon so I can plan to go here in the US. The ARMY Bomb can be bought at the merch trailers at the concerts, but give yourself HOURS AND HOURS of time to stand in line for merch. Fortunately, now BTS concerts are such a huge event, they set up merch trailers at the venues days before the concerts, in order to give fans time to be able to get it before hand. You hear the stories of people standing in line 6-8 hours, only to find things sold out by the time they get up to the counters.
They tend to sell out of the concert specific merch most of the time, they usually have a lightstick specific booth which has a shorter line. I don't think I've heard of them selling out of lightsticks at concerts, but I would still get there earlier just in case

To answer your question about lightsticks, YES! You can absolutely buy one of them at their concerts. They have a specific booth just to sell them and others inside the venue to help set them up. It's actually probably the easiest way to get one if you have a concert near you and as long as you go to their merch booth (don't buy them from someone random) they'll definitely be official.

This whole video is a big middle finger to haters.
They were criticized for having green screen and too much color in videos, so they went extra hard with them here. They were called too western and not having enough Korean culture and sound so they went hard with both here, and also, as you saw, at the MMA live performance of Idol.
RM was criticized for using Snapchat filters on VLive so he uses them here. Suga was called too pale, hence the Snow White sweater. J-Hope was called too skinny and Bugs Bunny, hence his Bugs Bunny sweater and dancing with the skinny inflatable guy. Jimin was called too feminine, so he goes hard with a more feminine mystique here in using a feather fan, etc. V was called an old man and a grandpa for his love of classic fashion, hence his outfit and suspenders and his repeated “grandpa dance” moments in the video. And so on. Even the drawings are ones they did about haters.

*Boy In Luv* is one of their much older stuff, when they had a darker and more aggressive sound/style, and the song centers around teen love.
Then *Boy With Luv* is sort of a response to Boy In Luv to showcase their growth and change, showing how their perception of love has matured. Something like that haha

This song is and will always be iconic... It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I still remember how Exols filled the comment section with love and support! This video is such a trip. lol... And, it's meant to be. This song takes a few listens to really digest. But, it is one of their most iconic songs and plays into their concept of "love yourself". It is basically telling the haters that they can call them any name, and it doesn't matter. BTS will always be themselves.

I watch this and I recall back to when I first found BTS and became an ARMY, it was them performing this song on America's Got Talent that drew my attention, they saved my life and changed it for the better, and I look forward to telling them some day what they did for me.

Idol wasn't my favorite BTS song at first. But, going to the concert in LA and being a part of 70,000 people of all walks of life, ages, creeds, colours and ways of living as a community screaming at the top of our lungs, "You cant stop me loving myself," was one of the most cathartic and memorable moments of my life. Pure magic! I love it and them so much more after that. 💜

The light you’re talking about is an ARMY Bomb and yes, you can pick one up at the concert. They’re about $50 USD. They connect to an app on your phone. When you connect the app to your seat location, they Bluetooth lighting content to your ARMY bomb and that’s what makes all the awesome designs and rainbows, etc. during the show. It’s awesome! I saw them perform this live at PTD Vegas. It was at about the halfway point of their concert and they were EXHAUSTED already. IDOL came on and the whole stadium was literally jumping up and down - it was this electric bolt of lightning. I will never forget it! That was when Jin said that ARMY is like a battery for BTS, recharging them! :)
Army Bombs (purple light- and other colors) are always sold at concerts. It’s a must for attending their concerts. You will have the time of your life when you attend their show. Idol is one of those songs that come at a point in the concert when everyone is maxed out on energy and it just takes you even higher, it's the best feeling, I can't wait to experience it live. Yes this was my first song of theirs, I imprinted on them immediately and took the dive down the rabbit hole. I just was amazed by the dancing and the visuals and how great they all looked (esp. Jin, who is still my ultimate bias, lol). I do love that MMA also, AND you will love it even more if you watch it with the DKDKTV explanation, because there is a lot of layers and symbolism here! Throw in a dance practice and viola, a full course BTS feast.

There are usually shorter lines for booths that only sell lightsticks but if you want anything else it’s good to go early in the day.
Lightsticks are so fun to collect because every group has their own version and they are all so cool! Once you get one it’s hard to stop collecting them for the groups you love!

I'm so glad you finally got to see this!! I have been waiting a long time haha. When this song came out, they had been gaining a lot of attention in America and were getting criticized for selling out to western audiences, seeking western validation but still being "too Korean" for mainstream audiences, losing who they are, etc; idol was the final title track of the Love Yourself era, and flew right in the face of all that criticism.
Couple other things: if you want old school bts, watch "boy IN luv" (also "war of hormone" and "just one day", unrelated but so good lol), if you want newer bts watch "boy WITH luv" for their adorable collab with their years-long friend Halsey. These two songs aren't directly related aside from their concepts being about love and how their views on it matured over time, so you don't need to watch them in order!
I want to support you getting into a bts concert so badly lol but there's a lot you need to know beforehand. Yes you can buy the lightsticks (army bombs) at the venue BUT if you choose to try to get it this way, prepare for a very very very long line, like hours long, and get there early. It is an all-day event. Supply chain delays and shortages are still the biggest obstacles to getting an army bomb right now, they're barely even available online on their official shop. Also, when the time comes and if you haven't already, get onto the weverse app and BUY THE ARMY MEMBERSHIP. That's the ONLY chance you'll have to get in on any ticket presales, and even that is not guaranteed. I know ticket selling laws are different between the US and the UK but not sure exactly how anymore, but I believe you'll have less risk of every ticket getting picked up by bots and scalpers. But if and when a show is announced, look this stuff up so you'll know what you'll need to do to get a chance at ticketing at cost. Army ticketing is legendary for being a bloodbath.

I love the message too - they aren't going to change, BTS is going to love themselves regardless of what haters and/or any one else says about them. Yes, you can buy the ARMY bombs (light sticks) at the concerts. I purchased 2 for my daughter and myself online prior to going to the concert. When all the fans are waving their ARMY bombs, it feels like you are just one big family and it feels SO GOOD!!! I really hope BTS announces their tour soon so I can plan to go here in the US. The ARMY Bomb can be bought at the merch trailers at the concerts, but give yourself HOURS AND HOURS of time to stand in line for merch. Fortunately, now BTS concerts are such a huge event, they set up merch trailers at the venues days before the concerts, in order to give fans time to be able to get it before hand. You hear the stories of people standing in line 6-8 hours, only to find things sold out by the time they get up to the counters.
They tend to sell out of the concert specific merch most of the time, they usually have a lightstick specific booth which has a shorter line. I don't think I've heard of them selling out of lightsticks at concerts, but I would still get there earlier just in case
