- Cycling and Camping in the Rain | Bicycle Touring Europe: The road from Catalunya to Aragon gets blocked by a hectic maze of busy roads but we eventually find a way through. It leads us along Montserrat a.k.a. The Serrated Mountain, one of the most iconic mountains in Spain near Barcelona. A lovely local invites us for a cup of tea just when the rains begin. We cycle our way up the mountain and when darkness falls we find a great little spot in the woods to pitch the tent. The next day we climb and descent into Aragon on a mixture of asphalt, some sketchy offroad sections, accompanied by almost constant rain.

At least , finally, she's not flatty Maudi , Looks like we figured out the flat thing, Yeah, for awhile there, I thought you guys lived on bread, coffee, and cheese. loved the colorful veggie stew shots. And those faces . Those faces are my fuel. ONWARD!!!!

The joy and ease that follows cycling days in the autumn rain-is indescribable. I just did 5 days of almost constant deluge in eastern Scotland, it caused epic flooding and landslides. I’ve never seen rain like this outside of monsoon season in India. It’s very satisfying to overcome challenging circumstances. As the saying goes, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.” Touring is a privilege and to enjoy it you need to be able to embrace and welcome the challenges.
Sounds like you had quite the epic adventure 💪🏼 Memories for live I imagine. All the best 🍀

Hi, we just watched this video this evening and saw you putting up your tent in the rain near Barcelona. We have bike packed in some heavy rain in BC, and there is a way to put up & take down your tent in the rain keeping the tent body dry so it doesn't get your sleep pads and bags wet. I can explain if you haven't seen how to do that. It is a little slower than putting it up the normal way, but keeping your stuff dry is worth it. ;)

@@WheelstoWander more or less yes. If you layer the ground sheet together with the fly, then place on ground.
Slide the poles in between ground sheet & fly.
Put the poles up under the fly.
Put the tent body up inside the fly.
Taking the tent down is the reverse of this.
This way the tent body, the top of ground sheet & inside of fly stay dry.
I carry the 3 fabric pieces of the tent in separate plastic bags to stop them make each other wet.
There are probably videos on how to do this on YT.
Hope this helps you stay dry.
Btw, I suggest practicing putting it up & taking down on a nice day. It is slower than regular but works well.
