Not sure if it was mentioned, but these amps were a collab not just with Paisley but also the late Ken Fischer of trainwreck amps. Probably the best way to get something with trainwreck flavor without paying the mythical prices of those amps

There is definitely something special about a minimalist circuit. The sound of the guitar with as little tone and gain manipulation...just what is necessary to get the job done...way more open sounds and really nice response to pedals...love this type circuit!!! I pride myself in finding unlikely pieces of gear that end up sounding great for modern metal, specifically 8 string, severely drop tuned types of metal and I gotta say, this amp sounds FANTASTIC! I think you made the right calm with the guitar you used too ;-) that super saturated gainy fuzz tone is really nice! Love it when unlikely gear ends up making out a great gain tone. I've found a few myself! Some examples of 8 string/bass VI style complementary gear I've stumbled upon would be.....
Nady Mosfet 140 Instrument Rack Amp
Advanced Audio Designs 101G Guitarist Pre
    Intersound IVP Instrument Preamp (MIDS!)
    EnVoiceMindprintMK1+Guyatone MetalMaster
Guyatone HIP HGP-1 Instrument Rack Pre
Boss GL-100 Guitar Driver Rack Pre
ART SGX LT Rack Pre (Hidden gem!)
    ART/Pearce DST 80/80 (Absolute Monster!)
Behringer Virtualizer & Virtualizer 3D (GAIN!)
Digitech MM4 Metal Master Rack effect
    Digitech Legend/Legend II goldface Preamp
    Roland GS-6 Rack guitar workstation
Carvin Tone Navigator (An absolute FAVORITE)
Voodoo Labs Rack Guitar Pre w/Cab Sim
    Rocktron Replifex (SO underrated!)
    Rocktron mAXE Rack preamp
Rocktron GAP series, ESPECIALLY GAP Ultra!
Crate G60XL Preamp removed & Racked!
    Digitech VTP-1 + Swollen Pickle + Velocity 150
BK Butler Real Tube II & Blue Tube series
    Mitchell Pro-100 Tube Head + Nady TD-1
It goes on and on. Don't even get me started on the 100s of thousands I've put into cab, speaker and parametric eq combinations to boot! Lol. I would certainly add the Wreck JR to uncommon/unlikely producers of awesome metal tones! Well done McFluffensteinz!

The caz can def do way better. I never loved the dual recto. It was long of hard to dial in. I much preferred the stiletto. It’s the only amp I’ve ever sold I kind of want back. The caz can def nail those tones. But is more articulate and cleaner. So maybe it’s more like an slo. I’ve never played one of those. I know dr z said they brought in every big name high gain amp out there and made sure the caz could do what they did and more. I def agree. The caz just feels more immediate and responsive than any other high gain amp I’ve played. I still want to pick up a stiletto to compare side by side. But I’m sure after doing that the stiletto would be sold and sent on its way.

@@cmatte82 that sounds super cool. I need to look at it. How is the clean channel?

    • @cmatte82
      @cmatte82 Рік тому +1

@@wheresallthezombies it’s a single channel amp. But it has a sensitivity knob. Instead of a high and low inputs. So you can dial that and the gain back and get some fairly clean tones. It also responds very well to your guitars volume knob. Even at higher gain settings. It probably won’t nail super clean blackface twin reverb cleans, but it wasn’t really meant to do that either. The other cool knob is the “aggression” knob. With it turned down, or even off, I’d say it’s more vintage sounding. And as you turn it up it gets more aggressive. Obviously. But it also seems like the sound is jumping out of the speakers more or something. Also the master volume is really smooth. And it sounds great at levels you can talk over.

The Z-Wreck is an homage to the Trainwreck, which is closer to a Vox voicing than anything else. As to whether it is a country amp, well…it was originally designed for Brad Paisley so…

@@Burnt_Gerbil it’s as ‘country’ as pretty much any other amp. I play pretty much every style except metal and have yet to find any amp that can’t be used for just about anything.
I just don’t buy the comment that a tweed amp is the only ‘country’ amp - anyone who thinks that really only needs to watch Neil Young…
I own Dr Z amps. They are incredibly versatile tone machines. Are they ‘country’ amps? They are certainly well-suited to the task - as are Marshall, Tone King, Fender, Mesa Boogie, or just about anything else when they are used by someone who knows how to use them.
Just my opinion. That and $2.50 will get you a small cup of coffee…

I'm glad it doesn't sound any better than my sub $500 amp with a $30 KLON clone. And that's cleanish. Not even talking about using an OTT metal or fuzz pedal etc.

Maybe I just got lucky with my personal amp and my LPC. We play Stonesy stuff and a good portion of the classic stuff was played on SS Vox or Ampeg combos. So a very expensive but generic sounding amp doesn't do it for me. I dont care for PRS guitars for the same reason. I like raw rock n roll.
