Railroad Crossings of the NS Memphis District East End Part 2 (Decatur, AL to Fackler, AL)

- See Part 1 (Sheffield, AL to Decatur, AL) here: • Railroad Crossings of ...
Continuing east from the Tennessee River Bridge, we have the next part of the Memphis District East End all the way to its end in Stevenson, AL, though there aren't any signalized crossings owned by NS between Fackler and Stevenson. This part of the railroad was built by the Memphis & Charleston Railroad in 1857, with plans for the line to originally continue on its own trackage east of Stevenson to Chattanooga, but those plans were never realized, and the railroad has to use the NC&StL line (now CSX Chattanooga Sub) to get to Chattanooga, TN, a situation that still exists today. IIRC, a few remnants of the construction that was started for the portion of the line to Chattanooga can still be seen today near Stevenson, if you look hard enough.
This portion of the line has a lot more crossings along it, with a total of 44 public crossings along the main line, and a lot greater variety in the crossing equipment, with a lot more mechanical bells, quite a few gateless crossings, 8 inch lights, and even gateless crossings with 8 inch lights and mechanical bells! This portion of the line also has the only remaining gated 8 inch crossing along the line, along with the only remaining Modern Industries lights and General Signals Type 1 e-bells along the line. NS is exceptionally lazy along this part though, as two of the three crossings with mechanical bells have one of the bells dead or dying, including the only RACO mechanical bell left along the line. Also, out of the 44 crossings along this part of the line:
3 crossings have LEDs
15 crossings have mechanical bells
5 have 8 inch lights
There is also a total of 64 signalized crossings along the NS Memphis District East End's main line, but the number goes up to 75 when you include the branch lines and spur lines. - Наука та технологія
IDK how it happened, or how I managed to miss this, but somehow, the video for Moontown Road in Brownsboro, AL (at 1:05:12), got messed-up when processing the video. Normally, I'd take the video down and re-upload it, but due to the length of the video, I'm not going to bother. If you want to see how the crossing looks, please click the link below!

Nice catches! My favorite one was 911at 1:19:40 leading a manifest. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
I have seen Norfolk southern 911 in person in brimingham Alabama years ago it has been a while since we saw it
I love when the type Gs 2 and Gs 3 and safetran type 3 E bells rings when the gates are going up after the train goes past
.., !
I love RR crossings. You have the best collection of RR crossing videos on UA-cam. Well shot, great sound. Thank you.
Thanks!
Wade Scot
I rlly liked Segers Road (Huntsville, AL) & Sullvian Street (Madison, AL) bcause it had the same train & it was a rlly cool train bcause of the 2 BNSF’s & 2 NS’s! Great video!
Thanks!
I seen sw1500 trailing on a manifest with NS 4822 leading!
The dust from the first train.. oh gosh!
Moores Mill Road (Huntsville, AL) - the wimpy E bells returneth! (Gotta be the contractor.)
клунлшшшшшшшшьб7ьлш
Crazy amount of crossings, even in the stairway...
The one "in the stairway" is actually on a road, it's just that there's a set of stairs on a sidewalk next to the crossing.
Hhhbg
Nice shot 10:39 10:40 10:46 and 10:47 great cool awesome shots 😎
Oakwood Avenue (Huntsville, AL) - Tied with Shelton Road in Madison as the best E-Bell in the District.
We have a new wimpiest bell in the District - Pratt Avenue (Huntsville, AL). Upgrade ASAP. Add gates, too.
0:30 I can tell it's a norfolk southern train track because of the railroad crossings
Nice NS Coal Train along with a Citrail (Old highway 20 (Huntsville, AL)) 10:50 - 12:44! ☺️🤗
I spot a whelen 2906 at 2:33. Nice video!
do you mean siren?
the first crossing must have had a sick e bell
I love train and music 🎧
Music?
1:22:00 That Union Pacific train has really cool and loud Nathan K3LA train horn!
1:24:14 That Norfolk Southern train has a really cool and loud Nathan K5LLA train horn!

You done got me drooling over the aces.
You caught NS 911 3 times years apart!
Dug Hill Road (Ryland, AL) - Another solid E bell.
We have crossing gates at the zoo at tracks next to elephants and across from the giraffes and ostriches and in front of the pig me goat coral
Sullivan Street (Madison, AL) Very Serious bell upgrade needed - at this point, the weakest bell at ANY crossing in the district! (Even Greenbrier Road is not this weak.)
12:44-13:00 loud buzzing screech. Same to the next train.
People ignoring the red lights at 8:50? 😱😱
2:15 the Bell turn on before the crossing
For whatever reason the bell there was set to start before the lights at the time. The relay case at that crossing has since been replaced though.
2:20 what a loyal driver HE WAITED FOR THE GATES TO GO DOWN most ppl go through them
the fire alarm guy of ppl don't like trains they go through. but of they likes trains they wait. i will wait of i like trains. i don't just like trains I LOVE TRAINS
Some people are actually smart like that.

In Brownsboro road, the crossing used to have a 1st generation Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bell
Actually, 2nd Gen.
i almost like the sound to make me sleep💤
Love trains
Great video my friend
2:31 thats a Whelen WPS 2806 or 2906 next to the crossing gate
The screen in Moontown road Brownsboro, I saw that the screen is green. i saw it in the TV.
I know. It was a rendering issue from processing the video, as I mentioned in the pinned comment.
1:05:12 I know because if was shaking so much it probably messed it up.
No, the file was corrupted when he process the video.
Slaughter Road (Huntsville, AL) - Bell upgrade needed. Derrick Street (also in Huntsville, AL) could use a bell upgrade; the gate runner should be taken out and flogged. Church Street (Huntsville, AL) - What is it with Church Streets and unserious E-bells? This is #3.
my tall brother likes train and me
Greenbrier Road needs gates AND a bell upgrade; that is a very UNserious Bell.
Hordan Road (Ryland, AL) Again with the wimpy E bell.
DPU ALRIGHT NORFOLK SOUTHERN
Love the SD70ACe❤
My son loves your videos! Thank you!
The Greenbrier Parkway is a very safe grade crossing. Not only are there four gates, but there are also construction signs telling people not to enter. I don't foresee any collisions between trains and cars happening at this grade crossing.
The one after it, nowhere near as safe. There were no gates. Three people crossed when the lights were flashing. These people do not seem to understand what flashing lights mean.
Well, Greenbrier Parkway is open now, so people are going across it.
poop
Quietdale Drive (Huntsville, AL) - How did this unassuming street tie with Oakwood Avenue as the best E-bell in town?
I love your videos
+daniel Britschock Thanks!
freebrickproductions your welcome. just wondering do you like e bells better or mechanical ones

I will be in New York City around July 22, but don't worry, I am going to be in Huntsville soon. I need to see more Norfolk Southern, I only saw CSX though.
Meridian Street (Huntsville, AL) - Not as bad as Pratt, but little better.
Ryland Pike (Ryland, AL) - They got it right.
wow this was a awesome video thanks :-)
Thanks!
Cleveland Avenue (Huntsville, AL) - You do NOT put a wimpy E-Bell at a three-track grade crossing; just NO. Upgrade ASAP.
Where was that?
Eh man i found a jailbar thunderbolt in hoover al some were !
Yea, Hoover has one still standing (though sadly, dead).
Nice
Thanks!

Those engines at 12:44 made a weird noise.like a howling sound
Well, they were running pretty hard, probably at Notch 8.
@@freebrickproductions what is the maximum notch for a NS engine
@@UsTrainsAndSirens Should be 8.

Shelton Road (Madison, AL) - How all E-Bells in Madison (if not the district) should be judged.
2:07 Whelen WPS-2906!
this place in china a train always stop at a random time
And do you think we’re gonna go anywhere near China?
2:40 a Whelen WPS siren
All in Alabama
I take back my comment about Sullivan Street; there IS a weaker bell - in the same town, even. Church Street (also in Madison, AL). Are they afraid of the church pastor?

2:13 Whelen

1:19:43 NS 911
Then the zoo has the crossing bell lights
I see that green screen looks like your Camera is messed up you know what I think you need to get a new one because that one looks like it's very old probably you might have a new one you just buy a few weeks or a month ago soap that one's okay cuz it looks like it's not okay but nothing's wrong with my tablet but it's got a lot of cracks on it so have a good day bye.
The messed-up video clip was a fault of my video editing software, not my camera itself.

hi
What’s up with all the BNSF foreign power? That’s WAY more than usual foreign power.
Multiple BNSF run-throughs. NS 264 is a run-through to Austell, GA (with NS 265 being the counterpart heading back to Los Angeles), along with pretty much all of the coal trains on this line.
I see a Whelen
