    The Veeape air compressors work well. Still using the original one bought back in August 2021, and have filled numerous ebike, bicycle, riding mower, and moped tires, and even a couple of footballs with it. Recently ord'd a second one to have on-hand. My sister bought one that she uses to fill her riding mower tires with. They're good little compressors (imo 😎).

    I have a similar tire inflator, people think it's a BT speaker. 😉
    I also carry a multi tool.
    I hadn't considered carrying my cable to use with my lock, I think I'll pack that to wrap around tires & such too.

    I will have to say I'm a coward and I proclaim that all the time. Maybe the guy was talking about me and just got confused what channel he was on. In South Carolina 238 people were killed last year who were on a bicycle and a car hit them. A lot more were hit that didn't die. So yes, I'm afraid when I'm "riding with the cars" My last ride, while I was commenting that I was on a 2 lane highway that was extremely curvey and hilly with a double line in the middle I said: "There is a car behind me but there is no way he will pass me since he can't see over the hill or around the corner and there is a double yellow line telling him to not pass." At that moment he sped up and passed me; fortunately there wasn't a car coming the other direction or I probably would have been in major danger. Lots of drivers hate bicyclist and take some aggression against them. Always be a defensive bicyclist and attempt to make eye contact with drivers so you know they at least see you.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  Рік тому

      I think it could be also based on what the drivers are used to. Out here, there are plenty of bikes on the road and so maybe drivers know to watch out a little more. Still, our area has bike/car accidents all the time too. Just need to be careful out there.

    Russ I thought I carried alot of zip ties in my repair kit then I saw yours :-0. I don't have alchohol wipes (though thats a good idea) I tend to carry paper shop towels (like kitchen paper towels only thicker & stronger - find them at any auto parts store) and I carry several sets of disposable Nitrile gloves (get at CVS). The gloves are great for keeping your hands clean (especially when the chain comes off my mid-drive bike) and they'd be perfect for fixing a flat. Do you have stainless as well as plastic zip ties? I carry both.

    Thanks Russ for sharing (finally) what's in your 'tool' bag. I'm hesitating about getting a lock because of the bulk and weight factors. I have installed a 'bike alarm' (concealed) under the rear carrier rack so protected from view or tampering. I don't plan on leaving my ebike unattended for any length of time or to travel to and from a place of work where the bike has to be 'parked' outside. So I am considering an ABUS cable lock as well as with the alarm seems a sufficient deterrent and an alert if someone tampers my bike while I'm taking a 'relief' along a trail or public facility. However the assortment of tools you have is very well thought out to be 'prepared'. Ride safe.

    I rarely get flats since I replace my tires with Schwalbe puncture protection tires. Have not had a flat in years. I carry a tube and a patch kit. No slime or flatout.

    Wow, that’s a lot of stuff. I have tire liners and a slimed tube and I don’t bring anything unless I’m planning to lock a bike up, which I’m normally not. If something happened, I’d call my wife for a pickup or worst case an Uber (I guess that’s why a folding bike could be nice, though I’m usually on an EUC). I have lots of those things, but they live at home, I don’t go out planning to deal with stuff, I check my rides regularly (screws and bolts tight, tire pressure, etc.) and have tubes and stuff to replace if I have to, but I don’t expect to do it in the field, I’d catch it during a check at home. That’s a lot to be carrying around all the time.
