    Guys I just watched woodstock '99 documentary, and Michael Lang seemed very responsible for what happened by taking shortcuts etc... what do you think? He didn't seem to care much during the interview, laughing and awkward dialogue when discussing what went wrong, i just got a bad feeling from it.

    I went to woodstock, and was changed forever I play music now and can't imagine doing anything else. to me Michel Lang is a hero, right up there with jonas salk, and many others. he opened the door to the soul of many. I for one, am so grateful. I only wish, I could give him, and those who believed in him, something, a gift as a thank you.

    Thank you Michael Lang for sharing your memories and vision of the 60's and of Woodstock. As we mourn the recent passing of Joe Cocker, I'm sure that many others like myself are thinking about this past era. As a nine year old in 1969, I can remember sitting on the curb at the corner of my street in a small town in northern Pennsylvania, watching all of the car loads of young adults on their way to Woodstock. Memories of that time in our Country's history live on, as well as the wonderful music. May we and our children know peace and love for everyone in the World.

I think Michael can afford to stay looking young, but an early hippy myself, I do not think of myself as 69 and people tell me I look ten twenty years younger, and that's because the 60s liberated me from matrimony and mortgages and I have been a free man, still looking over the next horizon-flower children never die, we just groove away.

The division in our country over race, equality the war, fashion, length of ones hair, Politics the music OMG Hendrix, Stones, Who, Joplin, Doors, Dylan etc. One of my favorite TV shows was The Wonder Years I felt I was watching my childhood.. Great post and Mr. Lang took me back to 1969 , in the perfect way he explains the happenstance of Woodstock. Also besides Kent State , the Charles Manson murders ended an age of innocents and trust that the music, tie-dye, peace and long hair was much about. I turned back and went home to mom and dad that weekend , was one of the many that tried to get to Woodstock !

Many against the war that were drafted went into the military because they couldn't get out of it. Woodstock was also an event that had the best musicians of that time. There was no prerequisite to be against the war if you wanted to go.

    Was it not just Crosby Still and Nash, Neil Young hadnt joined them until well after Woodstock, Deja Vu Album 1970, with Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves.

    • @ovethehill5252
      @ovethehill5252 6 років тому

      Neil Young did play with Crosby, Stills and Nash at Woodstock. He was drafted in just beforehand. He seems to have spent the rest of his life regretting it as he refused to allow his performance to be used in the film. He thought they played very badly.

    • @abw48
      @abw48 6 років тому

      GladToBeGrey: Ive never heard this before that Young played with CS&Nash and he, Young, is wrong in my mumble opinion, that they played very badly as considering their circumstances, playing for the first time publicly, and in front of so many, I thought they sounded great.
      Neil Young has gone off his head in the last couple of years after leaving his lovely wife, looks like hes smoking ganga again thanks to his new flame...
      Nash has also left his wife of 30 years and run off with a girl old enough to be is daughter, WTF is wrong with these guys???>

    • @ovethehill5252
      @ovethehill5252 6 років тому

      I am right with you on ageing rocks stars dumping their wives..pathetic. I could bore you to tears with more background on CSNY at Woodstock. The best parts of their show were when Neil wasn't involved and I think he knew that and it was most likely because he thought they were under rehearsed. For example, there is a version of "Sea of Madness" on the second Woodstock album that was almost certainly not recorded at Woodstock but from a gig they did 6 weeks later.
      I agree that things Like Judy Blue Eyes from Woodstock are sublime and, as you say, given the physical circumstances they were in the quality overall was very good indeed.

      Glad TBG: Im British and never made it too America until 1982 when I arrived in NYC with $27 a three week tourist Visa and didnt know a single person, pus it was the middle of January and its was snowing but it was one of the happiest days of my life. Im now a Naturalized US Citizen after living in SF CA for years as I married a lovely lady from LA, now divorced and live in SE Asia.
      We in London in 1969 watched this film on large screens, mostly stoned or trippin as we all were in those days gone by by I couldnt get myself out of London in the late 60s until i finally manged it in 1970 and never lived there again, now its the pits... Nash was known to us as he was a singer in the Hollies and he was also the Best Man at one of my school friends older Brother, he was the guy that made Donovan famous as well as the Walker Brothers.

    There will be many attempts in the generations to come to recreate the original Woodstock Festival. They may look the same or even improve in population, no of performing artists, physical setting. logistics-lol etc. W69 was far from perfect. But.... they will never match the powerful "spirit & soul" that Michael Lang and his generation envisioned, brought into this event and shared as their final closing statement. It was special, It was unique, It was Human and endures in history today because of that. Those who were there or grew up during those times lived that idea and spirit and know that's true !
