トレインキルン 8回目｜trainkiln 8th｜つちこねる#52｜薪窯

8回目のトレインキルン焼成の様子です。
稲穂が美しく実る信楽です。
今回は近隣の方から頂いた古い木材をメインに焼成をしました。
薪の水分が抜けておらず昇温には時間がかかりましたが
素地が赤色になる緋色が鮮やかに出ました。
今回の窯焚きで初めて茶粥を作りました。
窯焚き中は暑さで食欲が減りがちです。
信楽で古くから窯焚き中に食べられてきたのが茶粥です。
あまり上手に炊けませんでしたが、ほうじ茶の香りで
お米の甘みがとても美味しく感じられました。
また挑戦しようと思います。

This is the 8th firing of the train kiln.
Shigaraki has also welcomed the season when the rice ears are beautifully ripening.
This time, I mainly used old wood given to me by a neighbor for the firing. Since the moisture hadn’t fully left the firewood,
it took longer for the temperature to rise,
but the clay developed a vibrant scarlet hue known as hi-iro (flame color).
During this kiln firing, I made tea porridge for the first time.
The heat during the firing tends to reduce my appetite. In Shigaraki,
tea porridge has been traditionally eaten during kiln firing for a long time.
I didn’t cook it very well, but the fragrance of roasted tea made the sweetness of the rice taste really delicious. I plan to try it again.
