- Today we spent most of the day picking up our new piglets. They will be living out their best life with us! We are also moving out our meat birds from brooder to tractor, they are excellent fertilize spreaders for our pasture and the plus is you get delicious chicken on the side. Tonight we are having pork chops, sweet potatoes, and corn on the cob for supper! Thanks and yall have a good one!
We get our pigs from Rock Ridge Farm profile.php?...

Love how Andy shows so much respect for Meghan’s knowledge and experience. That’s a real husband!
Your kids are adorable and learning how to do skills!😇!!😇!😇!😇!
We had a great time getting to see everyone Saturday when y'all came down and I really appreciate you giving Melissa a shout out for the pigs. She works really hard to take care of her sow herd and loves knowing her pigs are going to a great family who will take good care of them. Thanks again for the business and we look forward to taking care of any of your pig needs in the future.
yes sir! anytime
Ya'll are so darned precious. God bless all of you.
Your piggies are so cute and your supper looked delicious like always ❤
Memaw ❤ My grand babies call me Memaw also!
Those pigs curly little tails are so cute!
Great looking pigs! This is making us want to farm again so badly! 😍
Great stuff! You guys are really good at showing the daily life of a small farm and family. Love how you show dinner at the end of the day. 🤗
thank you
That little girl makes my heart sing
good haul on the pigs.. i can smell the smoker gettin excited. Bless yall!!
Maggie sure looks like her grandma.
Those pigs are so cute, and I would love to have a couple of the kittens, they are beautiful. Maggie is so cute, she is such a good little helper.
Looks like some Fine Swine.. Bacon in the Makin!!
I got my Cookbook today!!!! Yippie!!! Great Photos Megan!!!
I wouldn't plant any root crops in the chicken manure and wood chips , there's always the risk of salmonella and listeria. Cabbage, kale, mustard and broccoli should love the nitrogen and no fear of the above mentioned problems with above ground crops.
Gotta risk it for the buscuit 😁
All of y’all’s videos are good ! Proud that y’all are raising them kids right and them pork chops looked mighty fine !
Pork chops to celebrate the new piggies.
I'm with ya!!!
I grew up on a 10,000 layer chicken farm. We used to spread 1-2 inches of chicken manure on our garden in the spring. Our garden would flourish. We used to get some potatoes that weighed 4lbs. We had lots of kinds of farm animals. I appreciate your channel. Thanks from Canada
I’ve watched this twice I just love yalls pigs. My GrandDaddy in Alabama raised Durocs when he retired to the farm. Along with cows horses chickens of course 😂 But he really enjoyed his Durocs he pasture raised them they were really pretty. Love yalls channel ❤ Lord bless you
I would suggest when planting in raised beds with the chips, rake the chips to one side, plant and rake the chips back on top as a mulch. Do not incorporate the chips into the soil for a while. Enjoy your videos!
Thanks for the heads upon the pigs! I live in Thomasville also!
My great-grandfather would put nothing but chicken manure and hay on his onion beds...made them very flavorful, but also made them very strong!
It seems like our tomatoes haven't been doing very well the past few years with chicken litter. Someone suggested cow manure or horse manure so we will see how that does this year. Last year we did have one of the hottest summers on record down here in East Texas. I love to see Maggie being such a good helper. Thanks for the vids.
Enjoyed this video. No slackers in this family❣🥰Dinner looked delicious! I like to peel and grate sweet potatoes and fry 'em up like hashbrowns. Yummy.
Gosh I’m so jealous…I would love to live your life! I’m in Knoxville TN and aiming to get there…Thank you for teaching us! Impressive Maggie, you did so good taking care of those pigs 😊
Enjoyed watching!
It’s so awesome. Y’all are a blessing. Have fun.
My vote - Hoppin & Poppin!
I put wood chip chicken manure on my garden every year plus some cow manure and straw if I have it. Everything grows very well!!
Maggie is adorable as always take care and God bless.
Those are some great looking pigs. Chris at Homesteading the Hard Way, always said that Duroc/Hampshire cross was a great cross. Megan's Cornish Cross chickens are looking good also. By the time she gets grown, Maggie will be able to take over the farm. I love her slop recipe. Y'all have a great night.
I wanted to comment on the video where Megan was sitting at the table answering questions, but I can't find it. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all your advice. And me and my family here in Texas were very much encouraged by it. I wanted to thank you for sharing your adventures on your homestead. God bless you and your family.
awesome!
If you have problems with worms on your brassica, get some netting. Lots of people are using it and it works. ❤❤😊
Maggie has so much fun making the piggies lunch !
Lol
I still say that, aside from seeing the 'normal' activities of your farm life, I truly enjoy watching your youngsters as they grow and learn to do the very activities they will be performing for years to come on your farm. I think these lessons will give them a great advantage in the future, and I hope you can continue to instill in them the qualities that are necessary to keep food on the table and help enrich our population with good citizens. Thank you for the video, I love it!
Maggie is the cutest. Good looking pigs.
Awesome looking pigs Thanks for the video
Good looking future hams
I love how you call Maggie “Maggie Moo” my daughter’s name is Megan and I have always called her Maggie Moo even though she’s 34! 😂😂
Ain't it amazing how fast pigs turn into dogs? They'll relax in no time. Nice little bacon bits.
Maggie is growing up to be quite the helper!!
Plant some tomatoes in them boxes 😀
Another great video❤ thank you Maggie for trying to tame and spoil those kittens love yal Soooo much. Memaw
so many new babies yay~! team TG ~!! yum
Pure preciousness!!!❤❤🙏🙏xxoo
Team work makes the dream work. ❤ Watching from Kentucky 🐎 🐴
Many blessings to you all. My favorite part is the dog, she always wants to be in the action of things. 😊
yes she does, shes always by our side
What cute little piggies !!!🐝💐🐝💐🐝
So good your kids experience what real life is.. not through electronics, fresh air , dirt, animals and how to use their heads for more than a hat rack as my pop would say😅
haha i know thats right
Great job y'all 👍🤓👍. Thanks for sharing.
Summer brings a new change and a new beauty of nature
With it. Much ❤ to y'all from here in Michigan
From start to finish this was a great video. Those pigs running made me think of the pig races at the fair 😄 Maggie feeding the pigs and taking care of the kittens and Jacob sitting in the stall with the pigs...all kids should be so lucky to live that lifestyle. Tiger watching the pigs thinking bacon, bacon, bacon 😄
Awesome stuff! 👌 😊
LOVE your channel!!
You could try to spread it out over your fields to green up the pastures. ❤❤😊
I'd say that wood chips/chicken manure mix will do great on your raised beds since it'll be a couple weeks or so before you plant. That way the sun can help bake it out good! Those are the prettiest and cleanest little pigs! The people you got them from definitely takes good care of them! I love the red ones and the tan/white one! Supper looked so good Megan! The ear of corn looks like it just came from the garden!!🌽 Do you have a video of how you put up corn? It really looks like fresh corn on the cob that you cooked!
I don’t believe there is one, we just shuck, wrap in cling wrap and put it in a freezer bag. Don’t wash it or anything, keeps great!
@@TrueGritAppalachianWays Thank you! I will certainly try it this way when fresh corn comes in this summer!!!!!👍❤
I love it when we get to see all the animals. They are so fun. The cats are so full of color, and in demand with 2 already spoken for. Both your Moms are just beautiful ladies. You are so fortunate to have your parents and Grandma too.
Those are some good-looking, healthy pigs.
Maggie is a hard worker
Love it!
That would be so great to do that
Growing up, my mom would read us the Little House On The Prairie series. I remember that during the hog butchering Pa would blow up the pig bladder, tie it off, and then let the kids kick it around the yard like a ball. I'd love to see you try this in the fall.
haha we done that years ago
@@TrueGritAppalachianWays . Did it work like Laura Ingalls said it did? Some folks would be really disturbed seeing people kicking a pig bladder around. Of course the people that would be disturbed by such a thing wouldn't have any idea what it even was. That's great though. I'm happy to hear someone has tried it. Thanks for the response. I don't normally get to communicate with celebrities.
Coming back from town yesterday seen three standing in the road
wow
Hopping and popping!!!❤
I love how you said "little pigs". Lol. They look pretty big to me.
haha they only about 8-10 weeks old
Good Morning! great vid thanks
I throughly enjoy watching your videos! I love how the whole family gets involved with the farm chores. Those two kids are living the best life, especially in this day and time. They’re learning a lot more than they’ll ever get n an enclosed classroom. They are learning how to survive with or without modern technology. I just live the look on ole Tiger’s face as you’re moving the meat chickens! God bless you in all that you do!
Y’all tell that precious Maggie of yours that I’ve got some cats too, and one is black/white and that’s his name too! Lol.. I have a gray/white named Grayson, she’s the mama to my boy named Timothy, then I have a Henry( it’s a girl cat too), Scotty, Graylin and then a fairly old one that just showed up, we call him Bud. She can use any names I have if she wants.
I wish i would have grown up with the experiences that your kids will have. Love your channel!
Hello from Strawberry Plains Tennessee. I have been watching your channel for 6 mts or so. I have learned alot! My husband & I look for a new video every morning. We drink our coffee & see what your family has been up too. I got your cookbook so I can try ponebread. Think butter is next on my list. I love to see your kids playing outside, using their imagination to have fun! We don't comment on every video but we are watching! Thanks for taking your time to teach & entertain us.
thank you
Congratulations on what you all are doing , team work , good luck , stay safe .
We still got snow ❄️ on the ground here in Newfoundland Canada 🇨🇦.
Wow!! That's a good looking lot of meals you are going to be eating!!!
Tell maggie cheese doodles will make them her bestfriend ❤
Always exciting to get new piglets! Maggie is an awesome helper on the farm and in the kitchen!
I think that manure mulch is gonna be great for the raised beds. Can’t wait to see the results
As long as you don't get the manure on the actual plant and your careful of what you plant as far as salmonella is concerned you should be fine. We at our home prefer to pile it up and let it sit a season
Maggie getting that slop ready, great job!❤ nice pigs!
I put the chicken 🐔 leavings on rhubarb and boy howdy did it get big.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Maggie the Cat Whisperer😻😻😻😻😻😻
Keep it water
I’m afraid that you may have added a lot more nitrogen to your beds than the vegetables can handle. I built a bed several years ago in my backyard using only soil the first year I had an abundance of tomatoes and onions, peppers. The next year I added several bags of store bought compost and worked it in,the tomatoes grew about nine feet tall with tiny little fruit, about the same with the onions and radishes they grew tall tops and the bulbs split mostly.Causes them to grow too fast, I limed it heavy but it didn’t help, so I started planting flowers and bushes in it and they do great. Good luck to you tho.
Thank you God bless
That was a great family outing for the Bacon. Maggie is having a great time mothering the kittens for MeMaw and the little piggie's to get settled in on the farm. Jacob has the right idea, just set still and sooner than later one or more will come around. You all did great. Megan, we need to hear more about the fried sweet potato and fried apple combination, sounds interesting. Is it in your cookbook? I have been meaning to order your cookbook anyway. Stay safe and keep up the great videos. Fred.
It sure ain’t, I hope to work on a new book soon
Oh how fun to get the piggies!!!! Nice to see your mom and dad, Andy! I love how The whole family has pig day together! Well I must say my pick of the bunch is the little blond one with the black spot on its back 😍 but I think all little pigs are cute! Awesome to see sweet Maggie takin’ care of business! I got tickled at y’all and the smell of the chickens. They definitely have an odor of their own🤢. I’m on the fence about the chicken manure / wood chip deal- I’m anxious to see how it turns out. Hoping it’s the best thing y’all have ever done! And as always Megan your supper looks delish!. I’m gonna try the sweet potatoes like that sometime . How did you slice those so thin? Maybe do a video on how you do it ? God bless y’all!
I used a potato peeler!
Those pigs look great ! And how cute are those kittens..... Farm life is so rewarding and interesting. I had all that stuff years ago and watchin you folks brings back happy memories. Thank you for sharing your farm life with us. ......... Also, Meghan, your dinners always make me hungry ! Looks fantastic and tasty !
I think you will be ok, I took some out the other day and put it @ our tomatoes and they are looking really good.
Homegrown pork & chickens own way to live in 2024 . Your right about chicken 🐓, pigs 🐷 are a clean farm animals. Put chicken manure in 55 gallon barrel mix with water because it very very rich buddy . 😊
❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's a pretty slick pig handling system. Note on the chicken transfers, if you can wait until nightfall to move you can catch them a lot easier with much lower stress on man and beast both. Then when they wake up the next morning at the new digs they know right where to go back to.
your Dads shoe remined me of my cousin who was a Dr. Got a bone disease as a laad and who is raised shoe is whole life. worked or over 50 yyears as a Dr. a surgeon
my daddy was in a farming accident when he was 8 and his leg never grew after that, and yet hes still the hardest working man i know!
Can you tell me the brand of your husband’s boots please? Maggie is such a great help! She was perfect with that chick crate opening it just in time and shutting it back. A hard worker like her mama!

@@TrueGritAppalachianWays thanks a million!!
chicken liver gizzard intestines tasty for me sir also cow tripe and intestines
I love this channel I hope I’m a subscriber.. let me chck😅. Magan you are just cool to me . Love the content of the pigs they are so pretty😮. I also like seeing you cook
♥️✝️🇺🇸
Meagan I'm gaining weight just watching while you're cooking 😂😂😂, I do have a question though, do you have a recipe for what I call pickled green beans, they're not pickled using vinegar, they are actually fermented using nothing but salt and water, a lot of the old folks use to do corn and green beans in an old crock or what I call a churn,I've tried many times but never got it to turn out right and I miss eating them so much
I sure don’t, I don’t usually make any of those
Andy and Megan were do you buy your pigs from good looking
a local lady in Thomasville nc
What kind of wood chips did you use?
They will determine how big your regret will be.
it was some we chipped ourselves a few years ago I dont even remember what kind they were now
@@TrueGritAppalachianWays
Well, cedars and pines would be your worst.
Reckon y'all should've let em cure a bit, but too late for that.
Couldn't really tell how thick you had it layered, might not wanna leave it too thick though.
Do you just get the meat chickens once a year?
lately its been once in the spring and once in the fall
Do you process all 6 pigs at one time or are you gonna breed some for future?
No we spread it out over a few weekends when the time comes
@@TrueGritAppalachianWays cool, that's a lot of pork! But these days is a lot enough? 😉
Would y’all sell us a cured ham ?
I’m sorry we don’t sell any of them at this time 😟
