  • Not sure what to say on this one. I'm sure theres another one that works better. but this one seemed to take enough static out when installed properly to for me stop being concerned about such things.

You still also need to have the rig body grounded to the car body with grounding braid (like 1/2 inch or 1 cm large) which is as short as possible. You also have to attach the filter body to the body of the vehicle if i remember well.
So, grounding is the best you can do to have your radio as quiet as possible.

Direct to the battery is the way to go, get rid of all the computer noise of modern cars. We just have to cope with spark and motor noise, but now there is a computer thrown in as well!!! Running screened wires can also make a huge difference, sometimes screen both wires. Also watch where you locate the antenna, right in the middle of the roof is best. Keep the coax away from wires with noise in them, also LED lights on some cars are making things even worse!

Connect directly to battery for best results but you will still pick up rf through your antenna.

This is your cars alternator.. Choke out your coax, powerleads with FT240 Ferrite or check out Palomar Static/Noise Reduction units. Palomar my friend.... three or four S points in reduction.

Dude it's coming right through your antenna as far as the fuel pump you got to put a filter right at the fuel pump I used to have a 86 Ranger I put a CB radio on that thing as soon as soon as you start it up I used to get like 6 pounds of fuel pump noise

    Thanks for the review.
Yes it did work from what I could hear. I have an Apollo 2, which is the same as the Stryker 94HPC, and I have alternator whine noise. Ran 10 gauge wire, hot and ground, connected to battery. I tried different ground spots in the engine bay, and the negative battery post was best at reducing the whine. It's still got some whine and light popping noise.
I found a website on the net, and it shows how to make a noise filter. By the time I purchase everything nowadays, I might as well just buy one. Found about Navone Engineering, and they have what seems to be a good noise filter. It's basically the same as the home made one. I will link the do it yourself noise filter below.

Mr Reviews it all why thanks. Just got my second stryker sr-94HPC . And a stryker A-10 antenna. All hooked up, on cb freqs. It has almost perfect swr. But haven't got a single voice or radio Check on it yet. It blast the cb in my rig, but when I talk back to it from my cb it won't receive. Guess I'm calling stryker Monday morning to talk to their tech. Good people over there. Like the radio, haven't unlocked it . But wouldn't surprise me if I set something wrong. Lol

This is run (Stryker sr94hpc) in a crown vic police interceptor. Off the plug that ran to the trunk for their amps etc. I have same noise problem. Which you wouldn't expect considering the car. Same as the hot wire they left that runs from battery around front of car to inside drivers side. My solution is to run power wires inside of ,believe it or not, those metal braided washer machine hoses two connected together will give you 10 feet of completely shielded power wires. I'm found this today because upon acceleration the noise is terrible. I'll let you know. Also all my antenna wires are in the roof by removing headliner and running then through the frame cavity above the doors. Down the passenger post then behind glovebox. Probably going to wrap the antennas wires with metal tape where they go by the heater motor just to be sure. I'll let you know how it works. Even my trunk mounted stryker A-10 antenna is run up through the roof framework. Let's see how it goes. I have a quad band radio (uhf, vhf) on the roof ,center , a10 on trunk and second short type cb also on roof offset from center.

If you think posting shit like this in the comment section makes you seem smarter it doesn't. It just makes you sound like you need to go back to church.
