The whole video I was thinking about one thing. The skatepark that Ben is skating in this video is pure genius. Not that it is a best park ever, it is definitely not. But the place itself and the park has so much character to it. I love it.
The sound of the concrete coping! music to my ears, haha. Thats a very interesting shape. the tapered tail almost makes the board look wider. I dig it.
Dude I randomly just found your channel and I’ve been hooked ever since. I took a hiatus and have been riding bmx for a year or so and I’m seriously about to go to the skate shop and buy another board. Watching your videos and explaining different things when it comes to shapes and sizes makes me realize I’m a pure skateboarder. These are all things I take into consideration when setting up a board and I can tell just the minor of differences. I completely support your videos. Thank you dude!! A skateboard is calling my name.
i skated 2 years on 8.0 board. First element and then real, twintail! After i noticed that i keep making to many rocket flips and make weird landings with one foot touching the ground i switched to 8.25 boards. The 2 last years i been riding 8.25. And first i had real dubble tail and now april board! I tryed to skate with 8.0 board after!! and it was super sketchy when riding in full speed in higher bowl and on other aspects. And it really felt to small. The board im looking on is april 8.125 board, they for some reason say its 8.19 in april homepage. Has 14 short wheelbase. Im super exited to try this one out! Could it really be enough wide to make landings normal without any foot touching ground. And same time give that extra kick and light feeling for flip tricks! Its takes absolutly alot of time and effort to find the right setup! Defenetly like your videos and the sharing of personal experience!
The flatground masterrrrr! Puts on a new deck and within 2 tries or less does all his tricks plus some rare ones he doesnt often pull out. I hope this is where I'm at in 6 years!
Nice! I'm really impressed with the audio quality. It picked up grind noises from really far away. The zoom in looks best! The crook on the marble ledge was butter.
Great content on this channel! As a fairly newbie skater who is recovering from a serious ankle injury that recently required surgery, I find your channel both informative and inspiring for when I can finally get back on a board again! (It's been over a year) Keep up the good work. Subscribed!
Interesting graffiti near the London gap. Great video that almost makes me forget about proper recovery and physio to go skate. Almost, one more month and I see myself cruising around unless my physiotherapist bans it. Thanks, I enjoy vicariously through your skating.
@@yung___lx It is not that she recommended not to skate it's that I was hardly able to walk. I'm recovering from one torn ligament and one sprained ligament in the left ankle. When I started was unable to stand on that ankle balanced for 2 seconds, now after a few months of exercise I'm able to stay over a "balance pad" for longer than 30 seconds. When I close my eyes I can't keep my balance for longer than four seconds. I went from being able to walk 20 minutes slowly with pain to be able to walk "normally". I am following a six months program to recover the strength in the ankle, it's working so far but I can tell my balance is not what it used to be and better forget about forcing it. 30 lateral jumps and it is swollen and hurting for hours. I'm supposed to be halfway into full recovery.
😎😎😎....did you ever go back and try the Destructo D1s at all after trying the D2s ..i was wondering bc i was curious about the D1s myself after having indy and thunders...to be honest i really like my mini logo trucks size 8.38 on a 8.5 or 8.25 deck they are great imo and what ive been skatting as my main for awhile
This park is a dream, the height of the ledges, the slappy stuff like the curbs and low rails, the banks aren't too steep. Sooo reasonable! This video Ben filmed never gets old
Wish all this info was available back in the day. One of the best decks I ever had was the green Chad Muska 'Kamikaze'. Of course, 7.75 was considered regular-large back then.
Since you have a truck addiction, kinda like I have a new board addiction, how are the modern day Krux & Tensor trucks? I mostly skate Grind King Disruptors, and Indy Hollows are my backups.
I've got a pair of Tensors, they're alright, no complaints except the stock Bushings were kinda whack... Replaced em with Bones Hardcore Mediums, so good bye unpredictable squirrellyness and speed wobbles 😂 Other than that, they've got less meat than either my Ace AF1's or Thunder Medium, but I'm still working up to grind tricks so I'm not stressing it 👌
@@sasquatchhillbilly I always thought of Tensor as a B level truck, but it seems like they've worked their way up in the last couple of years. One of my favorites, TJ Rogers, has been with them for years. The Mag Light Alloys have caught my eye. I've never been interested in Krux before, but Alex Decunha skates for them and he's become one of my favorite skaters to watch lately. If he can skate the way he does on them, they must not be that bad.
That park must be somewhere in the lower mainland, which one? Thoughts on the quantum bearings vs others for speed and durability? Cheers, love the vids, as a 90’s skater from vancouver, its amazing to see how the landscape has changed!
Cool! I likey! How much is shipping cost from Canada to Baltimore Maryland? Is it worth the shipping compared to closer shops? Probably not I am guessing.
Honestly, the exchange rate isn't working out in favour for US purchases right now. If you're on a budget just buy local. If you're flush and can afford it, it helps support the channel. No pressure either way. Do what's best for you.
I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of your audience is here because of what you say. I would rather hear you talk for 15 minutes and watch you skate for 5 than the other way around. Skate content containing thoughtful opinions is sorely lacking. You are really good at dissecting the little differences that make or break skateboarding and skate products. Lean into it. 🙏🏻
I doing know both you but the last few pairs of INDYS under 149 that I bought the turning and stability has to been the same as sone older INDYS I have had especially the 144’s. Is there some kind of math in missing. Ive been riding baker or Polar boards lately. Aces for transition I’m really diggin’!!! I get if no one has time to add a commment to what I’m saying .
Yo I just started skateboarding again at 43 im busting tricks finally. Third week in so far. Im still on my old 7.75 real deck from 2012 lol. Boards are bigger these days

5:38 < Wouldn't be a day at the neighborhood skate park without a little scooter rider obliviously driving straight into your path. Nice dodge, btw. Lol
Will my titanium hollows 144s work with 8.125? Cuz I moved from 8 to 8.25 and it’s kinda heavy for me but I love the trucks. And where can I buy one of those decks?
Ben !!!! We need the ACE AF1 honest review from you
4 real
I got them. They're serving me well!
I copped em and I love them. I've had truck madness and now I feel like I'm home.

You helped me want to start skating! Currently a month in! Much love from Vegas
ayoo same also from vegas
Currently in my 6th month of skating, your videos and wisdom have been beyond helpful. Planning on grabbing a few of these decks after our trip to BC.

Yeah! Exactly what I thougt haha. And the place itself is so calming

i was surprised how much the sound carried every time he hit that pool coping haha such a beautiful sound!

Keep a scrape in your bag/car. Some skaters in my town scrape wax off and rewax sometimes. Also helps for overwaxed ledges
Yeah, that thing that is used in kitchen to clean you oven or a burner. Thats the best for the job!
Skateboarders are like a strange kind of Bee's, they spread wax from one spot to another

I just recently started riding a 8.125 and its the dream setup in my books.....anyone else noticed that Ben is still killin it on the board👍🏽
I am 1.70cm and skate a 8,375 had 8 and 8.125 before and it feels the best for my skate style which is transition, vert and street
@Tendo Pain I have indy standarts too and I hate them maybe get me some thunder in general way lighter trucks
@Tendo Pain I also dislike their height I was coming from 330g 52mm Trucks
Could you please review the new Ace trucks?

The grind sound on that concrete coping is so satisfying
Like the shape of the board.. especially the nose and tail.. look perfect 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
