Street Fighter 1. The secret to use the special moves in that game is to Negative Edge.
Many combos that don’t break your hands use negative edge too,

I play Eddie and Carl... on pad. Without clawing it. Takes a lot of time to learn negative edge combos
@@meddlingmage23 whenever I have to use negative edge on pad (usually playing zato) I map my attack buttons to the bumpers and triggers

So what I’m hearing is both bloody boys, Naoto Kurogane and Carmine, are pain to do combos with and hurt your hands? Makes sense to me. They both use their blood and your own.

this game's combos are insane. I love it. A casual player can still have fun with the auto combos and simpler ones but these hard ones are such a wild beast. Fun stuff!

How so? I can't do these kind of commands but can do Yuzu 's trials, you don't need to hold a button unless you want the stance to change which button is taken.
@@Grim_Bud Tbf, there's a lot of places on Yuzu trials where you don't need to hold buttons, but if you aspire to be a Yuzu player, you need to pretty much every time. Because if you don't, it'll lower your damage.
@@Grim_Bud Yuzu’s whole game plan is her stance, almost all of her move set puts her in stance and to play an optimal Yuzu you definitely want to hold and shift the piano tech, and yes you can do some trials without the holding and shifting but the damage is significantly decreased
Sorry my point was that the trial won't really be an issue for him because you don't need to deal with her holding stance much.
Also I may be wrong but doesn't the damage fall off only if you cancel too early with D to gain frames in order to continue the combo/make it harder to punish?
Because I can use her stance without holding any button and still getting the same amount of dmg the demo got, I agree that if you need to delay your inputs then you have to hold but its not as annoying as holding releasing like Hilda, Vatista or Carmine (or maybe i'm just more familiar with Yuzu idk).
I have always played Unist casually without researching too much, just labing cool stuff I see on YT videos or tournaments, doing trials for fun, so please I would appreciate telling me if I am wrong and why =).
Carmine's the only character that has to shift buttons for negative edge tho, imo Yuzu's easier

4-9 is scary, but 4-10 literally had me stuck for a month. I abhor that combo with every fiber of my being.
This is EXACTLY why I run with zoning carmine so I don't have to worry about a solid 70% of these combos and i can let my puddles do all the hard work.

This was the first character I tried when I bought this and I was struggling until I played matches and realized *why* he drains his health with special moves. Hard combos but easy wins spamming projectiles. And I understand the nuance of zoning, I am not using "spamming" loosely here lol
Carmine is a zoner who doesn't have to zone you. He can rush you down with all sorts of stupid oki options. Honestly it's why fighting Carmine is as simple as don't get grabbed and just block. Eventually he'll kill himself before he kills you.
Ironically enough i still find Vatista and Yuzu's combos are harder than Carmine, maybe I'm just used to play the character since UNIEL

I'm rather new to fighting games. What is a Negative Edge Combo? I picked up Carmine in BBXT, but the characters there are dumbed down.
It's basically a mechanic used for certain characters like zato in gg, carl and carmine it's basically a move that can be held with the button and delayed until you release the button an example being I hold x and release when I want to after activating it and it stays until I release it
A move is performed by releasing a button instead of pressing it
Kinda hard to explain unless you see a negative edge move for yourself
The proper answer:
You know the Hadoken input for Ryu from Street Fighter, quarter-circle forward + X (236X)? Normally, to do 2 consecutive Hadoken, you would have to input 236X and another 236X, right? But with Negative Edge, during the first Hadoken, you can input 236X and keep holding X, input another 236 and simply release the X you were holding. This would count as inputs for two Hadoken. Since with Negative Edge, a press of a button AND it's release are both considered separate inputs.
This makes some hard to do combos where you have to input multiple commands quickly easier, since instead of having to input them separately, you can simply hold during one part of the combo and release during the next.
So, Negative Edge isn't really a "combo", it's an input mechanic built into games. Mortal Kombat X also gives you the option to turn off NE in controller settings.
Because if you're not paying attention to whether you start pressing an attack button before or after a motion-input (like 236), it can trigger unintended moves and mess up your combos.
