- Alright, I think I might've found the hardest combo trials I've played so far...Under Night In-Birth, for how well they teach about combos, still won't hold back on giving me some insanely hard ones! Here is my run doing Merkava's trials!

First day I played unib I played merkava and with literally only 5C and 6C I was able to shut out another player and win every match.

In case anyone cares, they make you dash in that first round of "expert" combos because 4b at the very end doesn't connect without dashing.
I can't wait till Kizzie gets into the Vatista trials. The first Veteran trial legit took me two days on and off to beat. She has sick trials tho

@@silverhairedelf09 Uni characters are very simple to use once you get the hang of it. Some are incredibly hard to master though. That's just kind of how this game is. At least they aren't majorly ass or bonkers like the first version of the game anymore XD.

To give credit to French Bread, doing no dash after the 66C will make the 4B whiff in the 2C > 5C > 4B chain unless in the corner.
Exactly there aren't any "mistakes" in these trials things are deliberate and methodical in UNI.

Three characters I wanna see the most: Enkidu, Chaos, and Phonon. Three cheesy characters but I still love them anyway.
Hahahaha merkava's trials seem pretty tame still (none of the combos even went as long as 3 rows). All the characters I tried I had to give up pretty much upon reaching section 4. For my main anyway I had to give up and lab her for about 20 hours and watch youtube guides and tips to really understand why her combos work the way they do etc, so that I was finally able to reattempt the trials and finish it quickly with one go. Even then a specific CVO combo took me super long because I had to figure out how to do 623C to interupt a Force Function move (This was more difficult on pad, having to hold B, release the Force Function macro and use the A+B+C macro on my right trigger which prioritises the C input).
Wp Kizzy I hope you keep your sanity for future trials to come lol
More rows doesn't really mean harder in the grand scheme of things. Take Byakuya for example. Even his most complex looking combos aren't hard to do and he has combos that are 3 rows long.
@@BoostedBonobo101 that's true actually, I was moreso giving a lazy example. But I would still argue that having more hits or whatever increases the odds of frustration/drops since there are more places you can make mistakes. Even if the first 2.5rows are easy/consistent, if the part you are stuck on for example is near the end, it takes ages to get to be able to practice that segment. You might say "Oh just practice that bit in isolation" which is what I did, but it turns out once you get to that part for real the proration/strictness/height of the opponent is usually a bit different which makes it harder/tighter. If I use my Phonon CVO combo example I struggled greatly originally with the 66C 623B 66B link post jump OTG (as part of the standard BnB), then after like 20 hours of playing the game and just commiting that to muscle memory it was a great pain to practice CVO TK j236C FF(9hits) 623C since in isolation you could do the j236C special very lazily and I mentioned the struggle of force function into C input, but with proration it was super tight and j236C into FF dropped often.
Anyway personal ranting aside what I am saying is that I expect Kizzie to have alot more headaches in the future hahahaha
i don't play merkava or do his combo trials but I'm glad im not alone fighting these combos lol

I like the amount of options in UNI. And the dash is the only way to land the 4b. I like to think Not all heros wear capes when I see little things like that in the combo trials.

My first experience with Under Night was in BBTag I played Hyde and Mitsuru, And I was thinking I would play Hyde in Under Night but he felt so different from BBTag Hyde and I now play Eltnum
BBtag rots the brain when it comes to fighting games. I put 400+ hours into it and regret ever second. There is nothing you can take from BBtag and apply to other fighting games. I am so glad I have completely wiped the habits I had in tag and replaced them with solid fundamentals from games like Guilty Gear and UNI.

Kizzie probably already knows, but if you’re struggling trying to get proper hit counts on a multi hit in a combo, watch the demo and see at what hit count the relevant moves come out.

if you want to skip that dash you can just do 2CC,4B or 2C,236B,ENDER (236C or 22C) thats the option cause when i play this character i was thinking the same why the hell you need dash if 2C hits without dashing

This game has too many combo challenges, how many combos have the exact same start, same finish, same links, one version has a light jab, another has 2 jabs, another has a extra dash. This is light hearted combos.
The worst things about these combo trials is that Merkava's optimal combos are easy magic ABC combos and the rest of his game is outranging the opponent like classic dhalsim while shifting in close using his long range grab to juke around, constantly switching between offence and defence using his good movement options and flight.
In other words you don't have to be good at these specific combos to be good with Merkava.
I ran through them and they specifically made these trials to be hard, not optimal lol. Most of his combos you can naturally learn by playing but the trials do teach you some links, though. Most of the combos in this game are freeform most of the time anyway, this does teach you his quirks pretty well.
So... its a good way to learn merkava play but not to he used in context
@@ananshasheta926 Yep. Specifically you want to learn what links with what and from there you can create your own combos. Combo trials are challenges you can learn from, so yeah, they're shortcuts that teach you intended pathways. Overly complex combos like this are actively discouraged in this game because of the huge combo damage drop-off, but feel free to do them for fun and style.
Another example is Waldstein, his combo trials are grounded but his BEST combos are all about multi wall-bouncing from his Dash C and Jump BC into throws and other moves which the combo trial barely goes over. His combo trials, however, show you the links you can abuse to GET to the wall bouncing moves. They also don't show you his main play, which is classic grappler shenanigans on top of his normals.

OH GOD, just the first few seconds of the video made me annoyed just watching kizzie try to complete trial 4-12. I remember completing all of Merkava's trials, and while most of them weren't too big of a deal... that one trial is a HUGE pain in the ass
(to note: it's actually harder to do it in the corner due to the wall bounce sending them further out there than if you did it mid screen... and the trial makes you do it there)
