The leg extension is a great exercise. However, it is not going play a major factor in you jumping higher. The squat, deadlift, power clean, and other olympic lifts will. This exercise is not used by explosive athletes (track, football, basketball). It does a great job helping increase the size/appearance of the muscle
Keep it up! Don't forget to breath 😜 You can exhale when doing the main effort, and don't lock your knees at the end of the mouvement to avoid unnecessary stress! Hope I was understandable english is not my main language, keep up the good work it will pay 💪
This machine just never feels right.. its like im lifting purely with my knees lol. Surely that is not a good thing (as a disclaimer I have tried playing around with the adjustments. I havent tried pulling on the handlebars to hold myself down though.. hopefully it helps)
This is exactly ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS what I needed to get some exercise while I'm stuck at my desk all day. It's just the right size. Only downsides are that the right oeddale unscrews itself while I use it and increasing the tension causes it to squeak while in use. Both are minor issues that aren't that important to me. So I give it 5 stars.
@@GabeXboxSeriesX That would be a hamstring extension where the bar is higher up and you're essentially squeezing it with your legs as opposed to pushing against it
No, just make sure it's properly adjusted for you. For example if the back rest is too far forward it will put a lot of unnecessary pressure on your knees.
i tried out a leg extension machine at the gym days ago. all it did was make my right knee sore for a whole week where i was limping around at my apartment which i didnt like at all. I aint doing leg extension exercises anymore. Its not for everyone
@@Goodswoodss the leg extension machine's weight scale thingy i had it set to 45 pounds. Even at 45 pounds it made my leg and knee sore for a whole week. i aint frikkin using a leg workout machine ever again
@@urrutiap I've played soccer for over 15 years, am 22 years old, and have decently strong legs. I usually do 30-40lbs for 12-15 reps 3 times. Try lowering the weight to 20lbs to start man. Be careful, you probably used way too much weight to start out with.
Bro it takes time to build up to a certain ability to lift a certain weight range. If you're new to resistance training i highly recommend you start with small weight like 15 or 20 then work that overtime and once you start feeling the weights are too light for you proceed to a higher number and so on. It's easy to get impatient for the first times you start a routine but not only is it safer to start small but also your overall perfomance will gradually progress but you have to be consistent and pair it with a good diet.. i suggest high protein low carb low fat dat.

Super helpful re: placement at the bottom of shins and why we'd use the handle bars. Thx!

BROO!!! You can be my trainer
Locking the knees is fine.
My leg extension machine isn't adjustable at all and the thing you move is at my shin level and it rolls up my leg when I move it.

How do you breathe while using this? Do you inhale and exhale per up/down motion? Or just hold your breath ?
Exhale with legs going up. Inhale on the way down
@@GC2182 Thank u so much
you want to exhale against gravity....so I would say on the way up
Hold your breathe. Breathing is so overrated.

You sound exactly like my friend and couch😂 like word by word

Am I supposed to start by extending my thigh muscles or am I supposed to push with my shin and ankles?
Use muscle bro 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Don;t squeeze your hands, it casues high presure in your blood throughout the body. remember your body is a hydraulic system.
thanx for the explanation 🤙🏻
My foot thing doesn't lower like yours. Kills my shins. Moved seat back all the way
the machine at my gym doesnt have any adjustments. I've decided to stop using it cuz my shins hurt really bad.

But, what about the back position?
Doesn’t matter
machine leg kick tF?
These bad for your knees ?

Should I arch my back or have it straight?
💀
Straight spine
