My 77 yr old mother has been going to Bucco's games since she was 4 years old... Watches every game... records the game if she can't watch it live... and still goes to games in the 'Burgh to this day.
As someone who is not a baseball fan, this was one of my favorite episodes. Great conversations, interesting stories. I loved the sport to sport comparison. Neil also seems like such a genuine nice guy. I also liked how he wasn’t just talking to Ben the whole time but seemed to really include Spence in the conversations. I’ve really enjoyed every episode, but this was a top one for me.
Played against Neil in high school multiple times. He truly was otherworldly. He would throw guys out from his knees with ease and hit HRs against us from both sides of the plate in the same game!! He beat us basically single-handedly 10-0 the year my team won AA WPIAL and State titles.. humbled us at the exact moment we needed it. Those are memories ill carry with me forever. Thanks for being great the right way Walker!
Thank you for the story of Clemente and your dad, Neil. I’m sure I watched it on that day because Pirate ball is prime time here at my home during the season!
Great show. Loved the Clemente stories. Roberto is my favorite player of all time. I was 12 when he died and cried for weeks. He was my hero. What a great man in every way!!!
WHAT AN AWESOME VIDEO LOVED THE STORY ABOUT ROBERTO CLEMENTE HE WAS MY FAVORITE PIRATES PLAYER AND IVE BEEN A STEELERS AND PIRATES FAN FOR55 YEARS SO LOVED THE STORY THIS SHOW WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR BIG BEN AND SPENCE ALSO NEIL GOD BLESS STAY HEALTHY AND SAFE MISS YA BEN
Love the show, Ben and Spence! Love Neil Walker since we are huge Pirate Baseball fans at our house! We never miss a game! So great hearing Neil talk about his rise to the Pirates organization and watching him play those years with the Buccos. The Clemente story he told was amazing! Thanks for a wonderfully fun and informative guest! I rate it a 10!
This is the first time I've watched this podcast and all I can say is FANTASTIC. We Steelers fans miss you Big Ben can't wait to watch the next one GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can`t believe i watched this for over 2 hours straight, but i loved the conversation and the lighthearted manner of all concerned. Neil Walker was great. Ben had a very poignant message at the end about Jesus being the reason for the Season, and i thank him for remembering. Merry Christmas to all of you! I am an ex-Pittsburgher now living in Tampa Bay. Believe me when i say if i wear one of my many Steeler shirts to go shopping, it stimulates conversation every time. 99% being positive. Looking forward to more episodes. Merry Christmas!
One of the things I always loved was setting around in a BS secession with my friends. Now that I'm older I don't get that chance much anymore. This show is as close as I get these days, even if I don't get to talk. Just want to say how much I enjoy it. Merry Chrismas.
I honestly love you guys(yinz) so much 💕 I feel like I’m sitting in my living room hanging out with with you laughing having the best time! I’m from Indiana Pa living in Rhode Island now 😊 keep on keeping on😎
Great show. Special story about Neil Walker’s dad and Roberto. What a lot of people don’t link-up is that Roberto was lost one week after the Immaculate Reception. It was the fourth relief flight Roberto had arranged. He was told that the supplies were not getting to the people in need. Roberto decided to go personally since he thought that the government officials would be responsive to him if he showed up in person. The earthquake in Managua occurred the day the Steelers played the Raiders.
Spence is spot on about beer in Germany. I went to Munich for Oktoberfest in 2015 and the only beer I've had in the US that comes close is the slow pour pils at Bierstadt in Denver, CO
Another great episode. Neil was awesome. Your first guest who, I believe, truly appreciates beer. As always, love the inside stories. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. God bless.
Thanks Ben for voicing the constant Pirates frustration that I also feel. A team that competes is all I’m asking for. Some winning seasons, playoffs wins or or there and I’m fine. Anything but this!
Very Cool Crossover!!! Loved the RC story and Neil's 21st Homerun story. The Sid Bream reference brought back my high school days. Sid used to work out occasionally at our high school in the summers... so it killed me when he was the winning run in that fateful series... especially knowning how slow he was. So painful... Much prefferred when he was a Pirate.
More excellent guests...Neil Walker is awesome...and thanks Ben for speaking facts about the pirates organization! It's exactly what the pirates fans want...geez! 😆 🤣
Yo that high octane beer Neil brought really brought the energy. Spence and Ben getting goofy. Love it. Everything is getting so loose, and I’m here for it. Always a pleasure
Long time steeler fan here, Huge Big Ben Fan and also Spence fan! Just wanted to say love the podcast and watching yall inspired me to start my own! BUT i just wanted to share some advice from what i learned from youtube. One small tip is that it is suggested to put some hashtags in the description so you can maximize your audience and views! (not that yall need it LOL) but figured its one small tip to help yall out! Here are some hashtags that would help boost it #footbahlinwithben #podcast #podcasts #steelers #pittsburghsteelers #bigben #ifoundmybeeronfootbahlin stay blessed fam! HERE WE GO STEELERS!
Shout out to Seven Springs!!! Been going there for over a decade now and I am happy to call it my home mountain. Fun fact, they only allow you to wear Seven Springs or Pittsburgh Pirates gear when you work there. Go Pirates!
Met Roberto Clemente, his sons and Manny Sanguillen in Kenny Wood Park when I was only a few years old. Never forgot that day, my uncle filmed it on super 8 so it was easy to remember.
Never realized that Neil Walker played for the Altoona Curve. When I was younger I used to go to Curve games all the time when I would go visit my grandparents in Altoona.
The Alchemist is often credited with being the inventors of the "New England Style Hazy" IPA. This famous beer and brewery is considered one of the best amongst most beer snobs. I did not know that the founder was from Pittsburgh, that is really cool!
As a kid from the 412 I grew up with Slash at qb 90’s were awesome for Steelers those linebackers and Rod Woodson I always said if only we had a Descent qb then Kordell came along and finally drafted Ben in 04! So glad Ben is doing this podcast keep up the great work fellas love these guests! Shoutout Neil!
Side not Deion was pretty freaking good at baseball for anyone let alone someone that plays football first lol MJ did pretty well in double A for that year too
Fellas, one suggestion I have is to give the listeners info on where they can pick up some of these beers! To add a bit of color to what I’m saying, I’m from Houston, TX. I’m trying to get some of these beers, but it sounds to me like they’re distributed more regionally than nationally.
Mike Piazza was drafted in the 62(!!!!) round. That was before they lowered it to 40 rounds. Piazza is probably the best guy taken after the 40th round but every year there were a few post-40 guys that made the big leagues. Some examples: Keith Hernandez (42nd round); Orlando Hudson (43d round); Jeff Conine (58th round); Brad Ausmus (48th round); Jarrod Dyson (50th round).
47:50 The breaking point & giving up question. Beyond sports... UPS employees may work as PT employees for up to a decade until a FT position opens up. Not unique to sports.

Big Ben 🤟🏿🤟🏿🐐🐐 & next guest y’all should have Sidney Crosby or mike Wallace really wanna know lol about the good days throwing 45-50 times a game 🐐💪🏾
any pens player would be sick
Agree Mike Wallace
Mike Wallace
Ayo Wallace is mad underrated bro crazy we had #17 #88 #86 and #84 all around the same time. Can’t forgot the consistency of #83 too
Definitely sad when Mike Wallace and Emanuel sanders left
Always loved watching Walker play for Pittsburgh, the hometown kid! 🤟🏼
I wonder if there’s any chance to get guys like Crosby or Cutch on this show.
I’m sure it’s more than possible
I think Crosby lives close to him like same neighborhood close.
All three doing an episode together once 87 and 22 retire would be the dream tbh
@@Orion_Is_Sleepy lol retire cutch is back baby
@@jacksonshelly2887 did not think in a million years that it would happen tbh

I wish my parents were alive to hear Neil's Roberto Clemente story. He was a hero in our house for years. ⚾️ #21
They might be passed but they're never gone. They were just as excited about this episode as you were I promise you that

I thought we weren't gonna get a episode this week, good stuff 👍🏿👍🏿🤟🏿
Living in the Present moments is our Present of Life...live in Joy Always
So happy to see this podcast come out. Neil was my favorite player when I was a kid so this is AWESOME.
Great episode again, Neil is a class act! Glad he played in the Burgh most of his career. Merry Christmas Ben, Spence, and Neil!
I appreciate Ben having the same outlook if it’s cold it better be snowing
Honestly, they could have Neil every week, he fits right in
Dude Neal walker that’s awesome..what a throwback
I'm digging the food segment! If you get Pat and Gentry on here, you MUST do grilled hot dogs. "Grillin' and chillin' with Ben, Pat, and Zach" 😂
I was thinking the same thing dude

WPIAL strong
Lol I swear Ben reminds me of Yukon Cornelius when he’s sipping and tasting his beer! No disrespect of course just makes me chuckle!

Ben THANK YOU for your comments on the pirates.
The baseball conversation was interesting...man, baseball is a tough gig...Neil's baseball program for high school baseball players is awesome

I looked forward to this episode all day and it did not disappoint!! Another good one!! 👍😊
How can you not get emotional listening to the Clemente story from Neil. He is the 1 player I wish I was born to see play.
I honestly love you guys(yinz) so much 💕 I feel like I’m sitting in my living room hanging out with with you laughing having the best time! I’m from Indiana Pa living in Rhode Island now 😊 keep on keeping on😎
I’m so glad Neil and his family has stayed in Pittsburgh.
Awesome show and guest
Another great show!…Cheers to Ben for telling it like it is with the Pirates.

I'm subbed big Ben. You were always my fave. Watching you scramble an break tackles it was amazing
Yo that high octane beer Neil brought really brought the energy. Spence and Ben getting goofy. Love it. Everything is getting so loose, and I’m here for it. Always a pleasure
Best show yet. Loved the crossover!
Big Ben, Maybe you could have Bart form Mercy Me on your show sometime. I'd love to hear how you became friends. Merry Christmas!
Great podcast but one of the most iconic and legendary dudes to ever sling the rock, thanks for the good years and awesome teams
Had the chance to watch Neil play football at pine Richland. He was a baller. I just remember how quick he was and could nutmeg anybody on defense.
Football Cook book...you boys know how to SHOW UP the ladies. Loving ❤ 😍 the show every week and watching my FAVORITE football Q. B. of all time.
Merry Christmas Footballin crew great episode 👏 👍
LOVE the Andy Van Slyke callout! I was #18 for all of my youth sports because of that man.

Neil it was fun to watch you in Altoona! Altoona Curve is still right up there for baseball fun!
This was a great episode. Thanks Neil!
Here for #17! Let’s go!! FOOTBAULIN’
Yea new joint !!!! Let’s go Ben!!!
Another great show, keep them coming, learned something about the tieres of baseball before the pros. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
Post regular season guest - PITTSBURGH DAD!!!! You all can sample Iron City beer 😂
I already said it, but I love Spence when he’s feeling it. On point this episode.
Never realized that Neil Walker played for the Altoona Curve. When I was younger I used to go to Curve games all the time when I would go visit my grandparents in Altoona.

Great episode, I throughly enjoyed it. Let's go Bucco's!
I had the chance to sit next to and help Neil at an autograph signing, he's easily one of the nicest athletes I've ever met.
Can you ask Ben next episode what he thinks about the whole Mason Rudolph situation?
That would be interesting since he called the Mason Rudolph pick a wasted draft pick.
Mason is gone. He is a backup, he never seized that job. He was the worst in preseason and he was the only QB there the years before.
Mason is average. Backup. Bye
I'm surprised Ben hasn't really Said anything about Mason at all
I literally got goose bumps listening to Neil 21st homer Roberto Clemente story. Ahhhhmazing.
As a kid from the 412 I grew up with Slash at qb 90’s were awesome for Steelers those linebackers and Rod Woodson I always said if only we had a Descent qb then Kordell came along and finally drafted Ben in 04! this is the best podcast on the internet
Neil is always is a great guest interview

Love that jersey ben

That food had me drooling!
NEIL WALKER?! Dude this is awesome!
Yinz gotta get Cutch & Sidney on together sometime next year
Cutch definitely should come on the show. We need catch back in the burgh. Cutch doin Tim kurchin impersonation is the best.
Dudes be getting tuned by the end of the show...Luv it
Yo get Coach Cower on!!!!!!!
Neil should be a regular guest every now and then
If there’s any chance to get Sid on here that would be amazing! Love the show guys!
Dude Neil Walker kicks ass! Headdy Topper!
Please, please, please, let's get a penguin on the show. Letang, Crosby, Rust, or Guentzel would be AWESOME. Great podcast as always.
Great Episode with the Pittsburgh Kid!!!
Cutch and Sidney all talking about Pittsburgh would be an all time podcast .
You have to get Crosby on here!
Love the Pittsburgh sports mashup! Would love to see Cutch too!
When are having a Shazier special?👀👀
Hey Ben, if the transfer portal were available while you were at Miami, would you have transferred?
Ignore Neil. I’ve seen him make Larry Fitzgerald style catches in high school. He was a stud on the gridiron 🤣
Retire 21 across MLB - we should make this a thing coming out Pittsburgh ❤
Neil was a beast at wide receiver, the right coaching staff could've developed him.
Love Neil
live show with the bus I'm calling it now
Neil should be a co host, he fits right in with y’all!

Love the food idea! Since the guests tend to be less than excited about the beer tasting lol

I want to try these Pulled pork/beer cheese Pierogi!
