'Cellist Moser is quite a showman! I don't know if he's indicating how hard he's working here, or how much fun he's having; in any case he gave a gorgeous performance of this great concerto, bringing out all the energy, drama, wit and pathos in the score. Even though he might have gotten a little "messy" in the finale, I've never enjoyed the concerto more than I did here. And conductor Skrowaczewski and the FRSO are of course great also!
People probably usually look at the soloist and say like "wow they are really good!" But probably don't look at the orchestra parts, such as the horn or the oboe...People have to look at the people who are in the background...The wind and horn section is probably shredding just for the soloist to get probably all the recognition. The solo is probably the top hardest but just realize that there are others who are playing too. The orchestra is a body in which all parts function and do things. Nice cello solo by the way! I don't want to come across being rude.
Too many individuals are criticizing either the cellist or the orchestral members. It’s not their fault. The conductor was clearly not prepared and had his eyes buried into the score, thereby not communicating properly with the orchestra and the soloist. The orchestra is clearly annoyed with how the performance went especially at the very end, but you could tell nobody was too pleased with the conductor.
4:50 poor french horn 😉😅 and what is he doing at 27:27? 😅 I normally love the hr orchestra but poor soloist, he is giving his best and the orchestra is lacking a lot.
If the conductor would lead them well and show them if theyre dragging or anything it would work better. Ist hard to hear the soloist from so far away anf facing the other direction. But the conductor is just in his score and doesnt even try to have contact with the musicians
Bad conductor. At 27:40 the conductor is doing absolutely no communication with the musicians, his eyes are just buried into the score. His cues are also not in time with the soloist. The conductor clearly did not prepare himself properly and I believe that’s why I haven’t seen him again with this orchestra.
Orquesta y solista, virtuosos.La obra es espantosa, imposible escucharla.Aspera, disonante, discordante dislocada.El violonchelo es inadecuado para este tipo de "catástrofes acústicas"....
What's all the headshaking bullshit Moser? Your performance was excellent - those flourishes are superfluous and bloody irritating- like Lang Lang who has become a parody of himself. And someone tell the 1st French Horn that I heard his wrong note and other fumbles. Fricken French Horn players.
the way none of the other people in the orchestra are looking at him and also the way hes "acting" ... lmao u can just tell he's probably an insufferable person
Культура людей actually, he studied with a student of Rostropovich and follows nearly everything that he played since it was commissioned for and interpreted by Rostropovich, and I believe the interpreting of it was partially guided by Shostakovich himself.
I highly disagree with you. He completely encapsulates the feeling of sheer utter anxiety. Its agitated and it aint pretty. Yes it can be massive and heavy but it needs to be nagging and overall a shitty feeling.
2:05 my man out here playing the cello so hard it caused a magnitude 7.0 earthquake

The second wave
Moser's a fucking beast I love him so much
Mateo Ronderos I love him too lol
right he is so cool, my youth orchestra got the privilege to play with him a few years ago
One of the most astute bits of music criticism since Shaw.
29:28 moser's final form
Magnaficent! This is the Shostakovich style.
Great facial expression and high level of technique.
True

What is this, an MTV videoclip? Don't people understand that music is the art of sound?
@@nandoflorestan not really

Marathon Concerto
Wow. Incredible. This is definitely now my favourite performance of the Shostakovich cello concerto
Same!
After listening to probably all of performances available on youtube I still prefer Maisky's one
@@Kapsek1 me too
The orchestra seems a bit underrehearsed here, but Moser is fantastic.
Interesting way he played. Good Performance. I am surprised that he hadnt sawn his cello in half by the end!.

I think in that case, it's a bit of both, more leaning to him enjoying himself. I saw him do the same when I worked with him.
GREAT!! ARE WE SURE THE CELLO IS STILL IN ONE PIECE? Thanks Shosto! Thx Moser!
What a great performance!! 🎶❣️🎶 Bravissimo!! 👏 Absolutely beautiful! 👏👏
His technique is sublime.. he is a prodigy!!
29:38 oh my 😂😂😂
he is having fun hahahah
HEADBANGING HARD 29:30

What a great orchestra and what an amazing cellist!
Cellooboy the orchestra played very poorly. The French horn and winds clearly didn’t practice
I loved this concert, and Moser is a great chelist.
Cellist*
Damn how did I never think of left-hand pluck?
I got to play contrabassoon on this concerto for a youth orchestra, holy cow that first movement is SO MUCH FUN.
man, that is some intense playing
Moser plays with such passion!! Really amazing to listen to!!!
I saw Johannes over the summer. Amazing concert, and I have been obsessed with his playing ever since
29:13 bow hand. just wow
maybe his thumb gets too fatigued?
No it's a kind of "tradition". Rostropovitch did that too at this end of the concerto with the octaves and then all cellists started to do this too.
obviously it was intentional, in fact Rostropovich also did it in that same excerpt :)
Matteo hi
Oh look, Shostakovich is playing second violin!
lol
If he changed his specs for black Communist issue he'd be a "dead ringer" for a young Shos!! lol
OMG is true my friend
Yey, he's alive 😄

Une interprétation vraiment *brillante* ! Un superbe virtuose.

29:15 his bow technique though!
His bow-hold at the end -- is he just holding it in his closed fist? Surely not!
engloutie yes, he is holding it in his closed fist, many people do it like that at the end of this concerto!
Overall this is a brilliant performance, but personally I like a slower and stronger cadenza rather then such a fast, staccato one.

Der Ton des Solocellos klingt so spannend und erregend, daß die Töne des üblich ausgezeichneten Orchesters zweitklassig klingen.
Es klang zweitklassig offensichtlich nur wegen der unzureichenden Probenzeit.
