Thank you for documenting Joshua’s journey! My daughter is now two years into her recovery with TBI. It is always so reassuring to find others who are living through this. Please know that you and your beautiful son are a blessing and an inspiration to us. Much love and strength to you both! ❤️
I can’t thank you enough for this video.. my son was in a motorcycle accident and has the most severe brain injury as well. They asked me just a few days after to remove him from life support which I declined. 3 days after they asked me my son was breathing over the machine and 2 days after that he was off life support breathing on his own. It has been 6 weeks after his accident and he now opens one eye and follows me. Today I’m filled with love peace and hope for my son and know that god is working on my boy. You just gave me a little bit more hope with your story of your precious boy. I can’t thank you enough for touching this mom’s broken heart. ❤❤
My wife of 32 just had a heart attack 3 weeks ago. She has a global anoxic brain injury and I’ve been researching all i can while sitting with her. She’s been going threw exactly what Joshua has. We have a 10 year old son and when I saw your video I just broke down. I couldn’t imagine this being my son. What I can say is your absolutely right about so much, they said my wife was brain dead and just yesterday she said “I love you”. Recovery truly is live long and one should never give up even when hope is slim. I hope Joshua has a positive life long recovery that never ends until he’s as whole as he can be. Much love guys and stay strong
I hope you can reply to this comment. My partner of 15 years is in a coma in icu. His son is his health proxy and they are pushing him to shut him down. I am being alienated because they call me crazy for having hope. I know he is in there!!!!!!! They say he is brain dead but I can feel him. Now they won't let me visit, because I upset them too much by begging them to hold onto hope. They won't even do any research or let me bring in a second and third opinion which his insurance would cover. How long did your wife takes you wake up if you don't mind my asking
@@jolenecarney7514 I know a woman who’s fiancée had zero responses after his brain injury for three weeks. Day in, day out she sat with him. He began squeezing her fingers, then opening his eyes (blinking for confirmation), he struggles, & they aren’t exactly sure the extent of his injuries yet. Things are one moment at a time, because weeks ago she was told he would die, and had 3% chance of ever waking up and even if he did- they said he’d never communicate. My mom suffered from hypoxia and brain injury, she has been in the ICU for 47d now, she barely responds to commands and barely recognise her surroundings and people around her, she cannot speak and barely controlling body movements. the doctors say her condition will last long (months-years) and unknown when will she recover or even be able to leave the ICU. She barely gives emotional face expressions like happiness sadness and pain, when we are around (her family) she seems to be smiling and happily moving her head, we will never leave her side or give up on her. Yes it is in most cases, but I had a brain injury and an isquemy on my right eye that affected my optical nerve leaving me semi blind from this eye.
You are absolutely right . As long as your loved one is still alive , ask plenty of questions , advocate for them and don't let anyone try to push you into making decisions you are not comfortable with . Do your research , thoroughly . Once someone has been in an ICU , intubated and ventilated with a brain injury , it will take more than a year to start recovery . You're doing your due diligence and that is what it takes to get to recovery. God bless 🙏

YES!! SO happy that you found HBOT. This WILL HELP!! It should be the FIRST treatment offered, but is often not even part of the medical intervention plan.
My daughter was hit by an uninsured drunk driver on the freeway last Nov. AMY has this but also TBI AMY is amazingly brain active. She is paralyzed, can't speak. We communicate by letter board & her eye movements. I just seen this video for 1st time. The pictures of your son in ICU brought back the memories of Amy's months there. Amy's insurance is capped out, something we didn't know could happen! SS said her payments won't come through for a year. We were told the same thing you were - that Physical Therapy must be started immediately for it to have any benefit. My husband has withdrawn his entire 401k & put off retirement for Amy's therapy. Nobody has EVER mentioned oxygen therapy. Am going to watch again & subscribe. I hope you see this & answer back! We so need to know how you were able to get your son moving & speaking again! ❤
I swear I needed to hear and see this video my son was in a dirt bike accident and. He’s coming up on the four month mark and I was panicking because of the six month to 1 year stigma.
My brother too met in bike accident ..what u said in msg all brother gone through.. nearing 4 months.. stil he was not in concious state.. just opening his eyes.. therapy going on.. praying God for his concious and speedy recovery.. don't worry ur son also re cover soon
He has pneumonia again, but he is open his eyes and he follows. They just tried giving him juice and he did sip it, which was great but they are telling me he is having severe seizures now a day at a time Mom I’m praying for you as well.
I’m glad that your story is going the way you want it. But Doctors tell people what happens in the majority of cases they see. They aren’t “wrong”, but crystal clear about possibilities they’ve actually witnessed. Also, would the person themselves want to live and be ok with not speaking or being in a wheelchair for years and years? I personally am a DNR because I wouldn’t want others to be in charge of everything for me. Again, I get he’s a young kid. So I realize as his parents you chose what you felt was best. There’s no right or wrong answer and as his mom, you know what’s best. ❤
My twin brother is on day 18 of his anoxic brain injury still in a vegetative state, he is also having Neuro storms we're trying to stay hopeful I would not pull the plug on him even though doctors told me His chances of recovery are not good, my hope is in Jesus and I'm trying to stay strong.
@@d.aalicia still hanging in there he’s been having a lot of tremors lately not sure what that’s all about? He’s been in his vegetative state since July if anyone out there knows of any break through research that could help my brother we would appreciate it thanks and God bless!

My hands didn’t get amputated but my legs did, due to the lack of oxygen and blood flow. My hands are contracted. They said if I don’t get my legs amputated I would lose my life
Jan 2012 my wife of 22 years had surgery, after she woke up 4 days later we discovered she had suffered anoxic brain injury. Before the surgery she was a softball playing wife an mom. She had to have 24 hour care. As a paramedic I took her home instead of nursing home. Her best friend took care of her while I worked then I did. She lived almost 5 years before passing on Jan 2017. She is missed by our son and myself everyday!!!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing this! I have a 20 year old daughter with profound special needs. She walks with assistance, plays with toys, and interacts. The neurologist that we took her to when she was barely 3 months old, Edward Gratz,MD, Baltimore, told us that she was "retarded" and he used that word. He told us that she wouldn't do anything more than lay there like she was back then. We got a2nd opinion at Kennedy Krieger. We were told to keep pushing her, there are no limits. Never stop fighting for your child to get better, no matter what is being told to you♡♡♡
Good Gracious ! I'am so very sorry that this young man went thru horrible situation, I pray that Joshua go thru a very speedy recovery, May Almighty God heal him in every way possible . Amen
I just said good bye to my little brother from this. I'm the only decision maker. I feel like I I just killed him and I don't think I'm going to be able to live with myself knowing what I have just done to him. I pray that he will forgive me for this and understand that I did not want him to suffer I hate myself for this but I don't know what to do. I don't feel the same way anymore . This is torture.
Honestly, i see some children and adults just laying around for their whole lives and i feel at that point just let them go and don’t be selfish. You eased his pain
Please remember, only God can make to time to live and the time to die. If it wasn’t his time to die, God wouldn’t have let your decision let him die. You did what you believed was right, but in the end only God will end life. Rest easy in your love of your brother and your love of God.
(Hugs) iam sure you did the right thing, i just hope iam not ever faced to to what you did, your very strong and you you know he wouldn’t want to just lay there .
I had to let my son go and it was a very hard decision to make. For me though, I couldn't live with the idea that he would be hooked to machines in a nursing home in a vegetative state for the rest of his life and that's how I live with the decision. I hope you find peace with your decision.
I miss my wife. She had a cardiac arrest. He didn't have oxygen reach the brain. She's in a coma. I'm a mess without her. I feel so alone. I feel so lost. My life is changing for the worst. I feel like I have no hope. It makes me feel like shit because of that. She's been in that state for 13 days. Idk how ill go on..
Hi please let me know how’s your wife ? My Daddy is in the same situation been almost 3 weeks I hope your wife is better Greatly will appreciate your feed back please 😢god bless you kindly
Tragically , the treatment necessary immediately and as long and frequent as necessary , Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy [ HBOT ] . Is not readily available in civilian , Military or VA Hospitals . Rather the twisted " induced coma " .
My son had xardiac arrest and severe brain damage from an anoxic/hypoxic injury he is bedridden only has reflexive movement smiles and laughs occasionally deals with seizures we have tried TMS that did little to no effect we want to try hyper baric but it is expensive his injury was in 2018 i wonder if HBOT is still worth trying om top of stem cell therapy he is considered near vegetative currently
You cannot regenerate brain cells once they have died, HBOT prob won't do much this long after. My question is, why not let him pass once you knew the severity of his injury? Sometimes, being kept alive artificially; having invasive, painful procedures; reoccurring bedsores and infections; and no quality of life is more cruel and selfish than allowing someone to pass peacefully. I've seen so many families keep their loved ones alive because they were too selfish to let them go (not saying this was you). I'm very sorry for your son and your family. 😢
I believe the transplant teams want the organs I watched a video of a person they said was brain dead but the patient woke up months later he said he could hear everything and he was screaming silently I,m here don't. Thankfully the parents held hope out.
My brother has also experienced global hypoxic brain injuury.... Its been a month now Only he can open his eyes but limited look around movement.. He can move his lips a little.. And he also yawns
One thing about brain injury tht never gets out but if your like me having a tbi in 2021 it’s a huge pain in the Ass for life like I want to be 30 with a Job house but they don’t wanna let u do everything a care plan or acronym
People CAN see gains after years IF their improvement in the first 30 days is good. They can tell if that if they get a baseline MRI/EEG, CT EEG TO compare improvement too. We move people to MRI’s all the time with all their equipment and IV lines. We leave the pump outside the MRI room and run the lines thru special hole in the wall and leave someone near them for life saving measures to be given. It’s hard to absorb and understand all that information when you’re upset. And it’s offensive you call dr’s death dealers. Doctors are healers and try to heal people way too long when they should be let go (not speaking of your son)
When I saw dad doing the hyperbaric oxygen tank, I started bawling... If we don't fix these symptoms soon, I can't take it much longer. I'm so depressed.
There is no recovery from severe anoxic brain injuries, In my opinion and medical experience from my profession, it’s best to let loved ones pass peacefully and with dignity. A person maybe have reflexes and twitch once stabilized, but that is not to be mistaken for hope of a recovery. Quality of life is zero and it’s no way to live. It’s best to grieve once and make the decision to let them go, rather than to grieve a second time when their heart finally stops ❤️
I'm a former Critical Care RN, and I agree with you 💯. There are worse things than death, such as being kept alive with invasive procedures that just cause tremendous suffering and pain. Families can be so selfish sometimes.
My middle aged son had no heartbeat for 20 minutes on 5/18 from Fentanyl, he was revived but I was told he has a profound anoxic brain injury and will remain in a vegetative state. I am setting him free, he would hate to be kept alive by machines with no life. In my heart it feels like the best thing for him in addition to the doctor's opinion.
I’m sorry this happened at such a young age but the good news is he is super young he will recover, I’m now 35 I had an anoxic injury when I was 24 things come and go with my memory glad I was younger when it happened but from everything I have read about it is better to have the injury when you are younger
Baselines are incredibly important. How will they be able to tell if they are improving or deteriorating if they have no baseline. What kind of life does this child have to look forward too? All because the parents won’t realize thy doing things too the child isn’t the same as doing things for the child.
Yes I just remembered about the hyperbaric oxygen therapy... I had to have that the first time I was paralyzed in COMBAT COMMANDER C300 AWO AIRFORCE OFFICER MPO USO BECKI L TERRY VALE OF HONOR VALE OF TEARS UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY ALSO COMPLETELY COMPLIANT DEFENSE COMMANDER

How is your boy now??? My son 6 weeks ago was in a motorcycle accident and has severe brain injury
God bless you Joshua and wish you a fast and incredible recovery, big hug.
God bless you and your family, Malachi
Update?
@@d.aalicia still hanging in there he’s been having a lot of tremors lately not sure what that’s all about? He’s been in his vegetative state since July if anyone out there knows of any break through research that could help my brother we would appreciate it thanks and God bless!
@@sirvaant Im sorry for the late reply. My brother actually passed. He had tremors too, usually an indication that he is cold, muscle spasms or running a temperature
@@d.aalicia I’m sorry to hear that my condolences not to get personal but was his passing due to anything respiratory?

Yes! There’s definitely hope. I suffered from a drug overdose when I was 18. And I’m 30 now. I have an anoxic brain injury
i needed to see this comment. my highschool sweetheart/daughters dad/best friend.. has been in the icu for over a week bc xanax od caused aspiration and then anoxic brain injury.
Did you fully recovered? Im in the same boat drug overdose 😭I can't speak, and I need a Walker to walk 😭
@@manuell4968 unfortunately no I didn’t recover. I have an iPad and it talks for me and I have severe muscle spasms and both my legs are amputated but I have a baclofen pump that helps with my muscle spasms and my hands are contracted but every case is different so don’t give up!
@@johnhenshaw318 why did you get your hands amputated?
My hands didn’t get amputated but my legs did, due to the lack of oxygen and blood flow. My hands are contracted. They said if I don’t get my legs amputated I would lose my life
❤you are a great mother , you stood your ground, good good job❤❤
Jan 2012 my wife of 22 years had surgery, after she woke up 4 days later we discovered she had suffered anoxic brain injury. Before the surgery she was a softball playing wife an mom. She had to have 24 hour care. As a paramedic I took her home instead of nursing home. Her best friend took care of her while I worked then I did. She lived almost 5 years before passing on Jan 2017. She is missed by our son and myself everyday!!!!!!!!
I’m so very sorry. 🌷
@@paulabrown6840 Thank you!!!!
So very sorry they screwed up the surgery. God bless you and your family
I am so so sorry. This is heart breaking
God bless this young man. He’s in there. Give him a chance. Go by your gut feeling. It’s usually right
God speed with this precious boy 🙏 & his family ... you've come a long way 👏!!!
I was so happy to see this young man sitting on the edge of his bed. Amazing recovery with much more to go, but he is alive!!!!!!!! 👍🏼💝💖
Amen
This video was inspired by God. It is a meditation for all mothers in the dark hour. Thank you for being a vessel 💕✨
Little fella,l only wish you a great and magnificent abundance of good in your life, now, and for the rest of your life❤❤❤❤
Your an amazing mom
I just said good bye to my little brother from this. I'm the only decision maker. I feel like I I just killed him and I don't think I'm going to be able to live with myself knowing what I have just done to him. I pray that he will forgive me for this and understand that I did not want him to suffer I hate myself for this but I don't know what to do. I don't feel the same way anymore . This is torture.
Honestly, i see some children and adults just laying around for their whole lives and i feel at that point just let them go and don’t be selfish. You eased his pain
You were just making a decision that had to be made. He did not want to live like that. You will be together again. Please don’t blame yourself.
Thank you for a wonderful video I pray yr little boy makes full recovery ❤
Please keep showing him things that were his favorite things to play with❤
my childs would not live like this, they told me. sometimes, its the better option, to let them go!
Thank you for sharing.💜
I miss my wife. She had a cardiac arrest. He didn't have oxygen reach the brain. She's in a coma.
I'm a mess without her. I feel so alone. I feel so lost. My life is changing for the worst. I feel like I have no hope. It makes me feel like shit because of that.
She's been in that state for 13 days. Idk how ill go on..

Hi, I was hoping I'd see an update here about your wife. If you don't mind me asking, how is she?
Come on Joshua. You are going to live very long! I send you a great embrace!
He's still there ♥️🙏🏻
My brother has an anoxic brain injury, as of last year, due to a heroin overdose. He's lost his vision, due to frontal lobe damage.
Wow
Hi, I was wondering if you have any updates on your brother's condition. Does he by chance have cortical blindness?
Thank you 💯 hope 🙏 will not fail us, I pray for his continued recovery 🙏 he's a fighter 💪 ❤️ thank you Jesus 💯 🙏
There's ALWAYS HOPE WHERE THERE IS LIFE!! WORDS TO LIVE BY . There's ALWAYS HOPE WHERE THERE IS LIFE!! WORDS TO LIVE BY .
Tragically , the treatment necessary immediately and as long and frequent as necessary , Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy [ HBOT ] . Is not readily available in civilian , Military or VA Hospitals . Rather the twisted " induced coma " .
God is with you and your son. I pray for him for healing in Jesus name!
but what about quality of life? the answer is different for everyone
His quality of life sounds non existent. Let him go.
God bless, please send healing angels. Never give up ❤
I believe the transplant teams want the organs I watched a video of a person they said was brain dead but the patient woke up months later he said he could hear everything and he was screaming silently I,m here don't. Thankfully the parents held hope out.
I'm sooo glad he made it. Don't listen to doctors. They are negative and give up on survivable people
Praying for a healing for her amen
My brother has also experienced global hypoxic brain injuury....
Its been a month now
Only he can open his eyes but limited look around movement..
He can move his lips a little..
And he also yawns
how is he now? my brother is in the same situation
PICU team was 100% correct. Because you are limited on how much monitoring and intervention you can do with a humongous magnet right there.
Hope is good but sometimes letting go is the best gift you can give to your loved one
Thank you for this.
i have never heard of an anoxic brain injury

Crying so hard. May The Lord Heal You in Jesus Name
One thing about brain injury tht never gets out but if your like me having a tbi in 2021 it’s a huge pain in the Ass for life like I want to be 30 with a Job house but they don’t wanna let u do everything a care plan or acronym
Hope it gets well with the boy I suffer with him 💕
how. What treatments have you used? Can you please let me know my toodle daughter has gotten the same injury. please let me know
Let him get back to the same level of life that he had before his injury. May God heal you trust in him he is our greatest healer. 💙✨✝️
My mum diedof an anoxic brain injury. I miss her so much
Lovely Family !!!! Always !!!! ❤❤❤❤
Did she really call them death dealers?? 😠
I believe in you!!! Keep up with the physical therapist buddy!! You can do it!!!!
My nephew was in a car accident and had traumatic brain injury. He ended up passing away from pneumonia.
Yes. I wish I would have insisted on another month of "brain-dead" condition to make sure he actually was.
How did this happen to your beautiful baby?
God bless him!
When I saw dad doing the hyperbaric oxygen tank, I started bawling... If we don't fix these symptoms soon, I can't take it much longer. I'm so depressed.
He deserves to walk, drink beer, chase girls, find someone he loves, probably go to burning man and take a bunch of acid
How is Joshua now? This child is truly God's miracle! ❤❤
Thank u for this video!
Can I ask what caused this with Joshua ?
Kayaking accident in 2020. He was submerged underwater for over 5 minutes. You can Google his name and accident for details.
Hi
My middle aged son had no heartbeat for 20 minutes on 5/18 from Fentanyl, he was revived but I was told he has a profound anoxic brain injury and will remain in a vegetative state. I am setting him free, he would hate to be kept alive by machines with no life. In my heart it feels like the best thing for him in addition to the doctor's opinion.
@@justmyopinion2I’m sorry 😞
@@DarthKater311, thank you.
Are you a health care professional?
I’m sorry this happened at such a young age but the good news is he is super young he will recover, I’m now 35 I had an anoxic injury when I was 24 things come and go with my memory glad I was younger when it happened but from everything I have read about it is better to have the injury when you are younger
Hey, I also had an anaroxic injury at 23, ıt's been a month since my injury. How are you doing? Hope you are fine 😊
Baselines are incredibly important. How will they be able to tell if they are improving or deteriorating if they have no baseline. What kind of life does this child have to look forward too? All because the parents won’t realize thy doing things too the child isn’t the same as doing things for the child.
Glad I don't know anyone named Brian
Why didn't you say what happened or what this is??
None of your business
Try ambien ... it completes the broken gaba receptors or something like that. Restores some abilities
