This is very helpful tbh, a lot of people complain about the work and dislike it, but it's so concise, and spares us from watching some 17 minute video repeating everything 30 times. Every educational video should be like this
I love that you use the Coronado Bridge as your example of a place to locate, I live in San Diego and used to drive across that bridge every day for a job I had on Coronado Island. Great video!
Great video. I've used it for my Ped1 college course. I'm in school studying to become an social studies/geography/history teacher. This video was very interesting and helpful
Hi Andy, My class is learning about latitude and longitude at the moment, I think it'll really help them when I show them this tomorrow. Very clear explanation, it's great!
Hi Andy, I am using your video to teach latitude and longitude in my Global Geography course. After viewing the video, students practice finding the coordinates of different cities. Cheers, Charlene
Watching this as I just set my longitude/latitude coordinates on my Casio Pro-Trek watch and needed a refresher on what all those numbers mean. Thank you.
Me:... Social Studies teacher: okay since we are doing online school you have to watch 4 videos about geography, latitude and Longitude, coordinates, sun, and direction. Me:... why? * watches it anyways* Teacher: now do 5 questions about the videos and do 6 questions about latitude and longitude.. Me:. Why so much homework?... School: Because I said so >:D Me:... okay...
I wanted my students to watch this through their Edmodo accounts, but the district blocks UA-cam. I have copied it to a site they don't block called Schooltube. Now they can see it with Edmodo on the school's computers. Thank you.
I was wondering about the physical significance of latitudes. Then I realized that since the earth is roughly spherical, its cross section would be circular. And in a circle, the angle inscribed by two adjacent points of perpendicular diameters is 90 degrees. we did the same thing for the earth. And hence the starting point i.e. 0 degrees refers to the equator and the topmost point of the circle i.e. 90 degrees refers to the poles. As for how the distances between latitudes are measured, we're dividing the earth into 360 degrees. So take the circumference of the earth and divide it by 360 to get the distance of each degree of latitude.

This is by far the best video explaining the imaginary lines of the earth.

Extremely well done. Very logical. Each statement follows seamlessly from the preceding statement. This makes it super easy to follow.
