- Ishawna came to the fore in a cloud of controversy in 2014 and ever since has been shrouded in rows; just this year alone the restraining order singer has been embroiled in all of 3 major controversies; the "Equal Rights" saga, the 'Miss Lou/Bandana' issue and one of the biggest ever female on female lyrical confrontations in Dancehall's history with Danielle DI but what is most striking about Ishawna's controversies is that they are arguably the key driving force behind her ascension from virtually unknown just over 3 years ago to now. Not really a big Ishawna fan but I must commend her on a very intelligent and well modulated interview, demonstrating confidences, self awareness and purpose. She was very cool, collective and composed. She answered very specifically, honestly and on point. I always wonder where her cognitive level was and she has gain my positive approval with this commanding demonstration and am sure she would have gain some support after this. I also agree and accept her position about the Ms Lou saga. I also grew up seeing the Bandana fabric/material being used for different things in my household...curtain, table cloth, sheet sets, etc. She didn't riducle Ms Lou's work, personality, character or legacy. She merely referenced her performance attire using a figured of speech suggesting that it wasn't suited for her style or today's dancehall environment. People gave it there own interpretation and blew it up to give themselves highlights. Great job Ishawna.

Everybody should have the right to live how they like it, that is true Ishawna. YES she may not sing ideal lyrics that you would want your daughter to hear. Furthermore you should raise your daughters to respect themselves, mine are young now and one day they will choose a path of their own, hopefully one I will be very proud of. However, unu stop gwan like dancehall fi raise unu pitney. Frankly, I choose to not listen dancehall too tough in my home because I have children. I prefer to select songs from Dennis Brown, Garnet Silk dem mon deh or even Sister Nancy, Marcia Griffiths, etc. That doesn't mean I bash Lady Saw tune, now Spice, now Ishawna It.just means there is a time and place for everything. For example mi just.see di Equal Rights video last week. On another note I enjoyed the interview, atleast she know when to put the slackness aside and address her audience on this spectrum.
