We got Starlink

- We have been using an AT&T mifi. I qualify for the First Responder Net program and it worked great.....at first. Cellular in spring and summer is always an issue, due to trees and leaves causing signal reflections.
Truly the ultimate choice for internet
I am a believer, now that I have had it for a bit!
Is that the mini or full size? We have been thinking about getting Starlink as well.
It is the full size. The mini from my understanding has a data cap, something like 50 GB. With TV and my work, I'd blow thru that in a day. Take this next part with a grain of salt....I bought it at best buy. They offer a deal for $50 a year....that gives you a discount for items you buy. They claim over a 1000 items a day are on sale...seems high. But....They will also discount Starlink if the price goes down for the next 90 days. (west coast of USA is getting hardware for $299.00 currently) I bought batteries for game cam's... saved $14.00 on that alone. I know you probably won't be going to best buy that often....I assume.
@@1968alaskan I just ordered Starlink Gen 3 from Best Buy online for $299. It arrives Monday. I have horrible internet in rural Virginia with Brightspeed. Max. 15 GB! None of my security cameras record events. On the Starlink site, the Gen 3 is also available for $299 until Oct. 5th, so this sale is not related to Best Buy, but Starlink itself. I am looking for the Starlink Ridgeline Mount but it isn't on the website. I need an easy way to mount it. I pay for Total Tech Support at Best Buy so I'll have 60 days to try it. I'm sure it will be fantastic. Much better than having to mail it back to Starlink should it not work.
@@1968alaskan the mini has unlimited data for $150 a month, the 50gb plan is 50gb then $1 a gig after that, but the mini unlimited doesabout equal to the standard dish, and your on the standard and should be getting way better that 56mbps its wifi 6, im sure theres some tewweking can be done, but better that 56mbps
@@Dashboard_dave Thanks for that Information!! I was under the wrong impression. They must have changed that also, as I thought the mini was a roaming only and only up to 50 gb. Thx for setting it straight.
@@1968alaskan what part of Alaska are you??? According to their site y'all get upto 120mbps up that way(perfectly fine streaming n gaming speeds for avg household), also the Gen 3 standards router has ether ports get ether cable(once you got everything mounted n set up) your speeds should increase
Great video! Hopefully it works as good for you as it does for us!
It will be fun testing this, North of latitude 62! Hopefully this will work, I feel confident. Still have to get that pressure washer, keep the good reviews coming! :-)
Did you use the starlink app to align the dish? Should possibly be getting higher speeds but obviously that is subjective
I did. I've found that the app shows the area as not supported. It is still workable for me. Weather (rain) makes a big difference. I have reached downloads as fast as 300 Mbps and as slow as .08 Mbps... Two locations, makes it subjective.
good luck👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you 👍
The correct speed test is on the Starlink app. Do you have Gen 3? You should have a minimum of 150 GB. Why are you not using the app for the speed test? You were impressed with the app finding the number to activate, yet you're using the non Starlink speed test.
I like multiple results, not the best results. But still very happy.
@@1968alaskan It's not about having the best result, it's the result from the app-device you're using. Which Starlink do you have? Gen 3 or something else?
@@1968alaskan I just found it odd you never used the Starlink speed test.
@@Sappho123 I did, just didn't show it in the video.
