100 days sober. I wasted 15 years of my life under the influence of substances, and I got really bad with alcohol. Drinking liters at a time, driving drunk like an idiot. This song hits home for what it feels like to be free of the demon. I have no urges and even when life is down, I don't think twice about drinking. It feels gorgeous! I think the point of this song isn't, as many believe, about someone gorgeous, but about the experience of "waking up" from a time of difficulty into freedom, and recognizing how gorgeous the feeling of freedom can be after overcoming bad or meaningless times.
I love how Blanke becomes the dark part of the song and Illenium become the lights! Very good contrast
Ironically enough, they both put equal time and sound design in the second drop, it's a perfect blend of both styles

This is as close to perfect as a piece of art can get. Quite possibly my favorite song of all time.
Best non-single from the album. The rock influence on these tracks really elevates them to a new level, and I love the pre-choruses in this song ("all the days that pass me by") as much as the drops since the transition from that 2000s-rock style to the powerful synths works so well. First drop hits hard as fuck courtesy of Blanke and the second one is so triumphant and full of life. The vocals are also excellent, I didn't expect Bipolar Sunshine to go so well with this kind of song but it really works.
Those Blanke section killed it for me, unfortunately. It's that "standard midtempo drop" section.

@@BatmanHQYT What I wanted: a story driven version of Gorgeous, like Dabin's take on of Afterlife, where it's an actual journey, than this midtempo section only and nothing else. If you wanna go there, at least be like the Sam Lamar remix of Pray or for Midtempo style, be like Hunter Sigel's remix of One By One, where it's mature and fits this song for me. Point is, I'm a fan of shit like this because it's not overdone and unique.
Blanke offside midtempo stuff has been interesting with that said.

I shared the same thoughts! I thought this song was about coming out of a state of depression. Saying that it feels like freedom and it's gorgeous. And the lyrics "they say you need the dark to shine" kinda points it out a little bit. And then "I can't believe I'm still alive" is a statement of overcoming depression and suicidal ideations. Just my thoughts :) glad you've recovered and are still with us! 💕

Dunno how this one of the less popular tracks off the album. It's so lovely, prob my favorite. Then the transition into the Angel Prelude, into Lonely is just so... gorgeous. 🔥 Some of the best closing tracks ever to an album. Illenium is an absolute master at his craft.
