It's a Philips head screwdriver and they are actually tiny Philips head screws.

how to change the battery
Sorry I missed your question before. Good question, though! I can't believe I forgot to cover that in the video. You actually have to remove the motor housing from the door (there are 4 screws that hold it in place) and the battery door is accessed from behind the unit. In that regard it's similar to the Run-Chicken model.
