Both sides have since committed attrocities. Palestinians need to have their human and property rights restored. The subjugation of peoples in the historic past might have been accepted but since 1945 we all know this is wrong so why have we allowed it to happen in Palestine? The West is to blame either by direct action or complicity. The only solution is for a peace process to address this once and for all and if the West were kept out of that process, it might succeed.

It would not have happened if the Palesininas would have been willing to accept the original Israel within the 48 boders and since that time. Israel did continue to ofer the 2 state solution for decades but the Palestinians rejected it . Admittedly under Bibi Israel turned it's back on the 2 state solution and greatly increased the settlments . However, after this War he will be gone and I hope that we will see Israel return to pursuing the 2 State solution .... and hopefully the Palestinians will realize it is also time for them to pursue it . NOTE- it almost was reached in the late 80s but at the last minute the then Palestinian leadership decided against it.

The idea that governments no longer represent people deeply resonates with me. In America, I have this feeling that the administration has no intention to listen or even consider people's opinions. So many protests and demonstrations are held and even not shown in the mass media, let alone had response from politicians. Biden was given Americans as less evil choice against Trump. Now, in the coming presidential elections, we possibly will have the same dilemma. And for many Americans, including myself neither of these "choices" is really a choice.

Like most people I only had a basic understanding of the Palestinian issue but have spent the last few weeks absorbing the history. History really matters. Palestine was being populated by Jews in the early 1900s, the Balfour Declaration whilst nuanced set the seeds for the current dilemma but what happened in 1948 with the systematic ethnic cleansing and this continuing policy since is the real problem and the West's refusal to address this crime brings us to where we are today. Both sides have since committed attrocities. Palestinians need to have their human and property rights restored. The subjugation of peoples in the historic past might have been accepted but since 1945 we all know this is wrong so why have we allowed it to happen in Palestine? The West is to blame either by direct action or complicity. The only solution is for a peace process to address this once and for all and if the West were kept out of that process, it might succeed.

I don’t think many or anyone here understands much about the Jewish psyche. I’m an Orthodox Christian but put my three kids through Jewish school and am close to the Jewish community and know Israel pretty well. It was immediately obvious to me that October 7 ripped off a collective wound and reanimated a very old trauma. I also knew that the Israeli response would be ferocious.
This just is how it is and all the talking heads and protesters in the world isn’t going to stop it.
I’m on the side of Palestinian rights and would love to see a peace process leading to a Palestinian state. However, it never ceases to amaze me that millions of people will go to the streets outraged by Israeli crimes but those very same people will shrug when a million Rwandans are slaughtered, 30-50,000 Chechens are slaughtered by the Russians, or even 120,000 Armenians are ethnically cleansed just weeks ago.
The selective outrage is rooted in antisemitism, whether you want to admit it or not.

He had three dozen operations over three and half years and then he had to wear a cast from his hip to his ankle for another year and a half and walk around on c rutches which left his leg o k even though it was a quarter of an inch shorter.
He died of cancer at age forty -six.
